My browser shuts off and returns to the home screen when I'm browsing the net. I have only had my phone for three days and other than the battery life, I have had no other problems.

Is there something I am not finding, I like to have Google as my home page and at times I want to bounce back to the home Google page to start a new search, I have to go back to my favorites and pull the google page back from there. Is there a trick to make the browser go back to the established home page from within the standard browser interface so that it is not a multiple click task?
View 5 Replies View RelatedEncountered a wierd issue with my Samsung Moment this weekend. I would click on my browser icon (Google is bookmarked as my home page) the google page would load, start "acquiring my location" and then automatically shut down my browser. So I went through the Sprint help desk for several hours with no answer and no fix. I changed my home page to something other than Google and now my browser seems to work just fine. But everytime I go to the google webpage, like I'm doing a google search it shuts down the browser. Flipping weird! Another heads up. if I use my Google searchwidget, it seems to work just fine.

Now I was wondering if it is possible to get stock Android on it because I can't stand all the extra stuff carriers bloat the phones with like custom UIs and Bing in this case. If it is possible to get stock Android on a Fascinate what is the procedure for that? If you now of some good tutorials I would appreciate you linking them.

I haven't found any direct answers to this question. I found lots of posts recommending the Dolphin HD browser, but that was compared to older android phones stock browsers.
I've had my fascinate for about two weeks now, and don't have a problem with the browser, but was wondering what other people's opinions are of the fascinate's vs other browsers. Always looking to make the phone better/faster.
I'm currently having an issue where my browser shuts down when I open certain websites. In particular. androidforums.com. The strange thing is it doesn't force close. The screen just goes black momentarily, then I'm back at my home screen. It's happening on all browsers, so it's not an application issue. I've never had this issue before, and I recently installed Hydra Kernel #3 (UV/OV 1.15 w/ N). Is this something other people are experiencing in conjunction with a hydra kernel? If not, do any of you guys know what could be causing this?

View 5 Replies View Relatedit sounds like most of my concerns have been covered. able to download Google Navigation, add Google Voice Search button to home screen, trash Bing widget. But my questions are in regards to the text entry boxes and the browser. In the browser where you go to type the URL, there is a MIC button, right? If I press that, what voice search does it use? Does the stock browser use Bing Voice Search? Would I need a different browser to be able to utilize Google Voice Search within my browser? Same with sending text messages, emails... anywhere there is a text entry box. Do these boxes that pop up the keyboard and present you with a MIC button use Bing Voice or Google Voice to enter the text?

So, i was looking for Firmware for Returning to Stock. and i found one, and used Odin3 to force update with the firmware,then i turned on my phone... and the screen said AT&T WORLD i accidental downloaded AT&T Galaxy S Captivates firmware... and now i cant go to 'Reset Factory Mode' or 'Downloading Mode'. can anyone help me? if i just can go to downloading mode, i can fix this. is there anyway to auto-goto downloading mode when you insert USB? like un-screwing the phone and doing something? i can take any-risk to fix this.

View 11 Replies View RelatedComing from an iPhone to the Fascinate, I've noticed that the pinch to zoom feature in the browser auto-fits the text after the zoom in. On my iPhone that didn't happen. I can see where auto-fit would come in handy, but there are times I don't want the layout of the site to change. I just want to zoom it a little - I'll happily finger scroll to the left, right, up, or down to read something.
Is there a way to disable the auto-fit on the zoom-in for the stock browser? I know there are other browsers out there, but I'm asking about the stock browser.
Perhaps this is a feature coming in 2.2?
Don't you hate it when you view a website and it's the Mobile version, but you want the full Desktop page? Just follow this. You will have to do it once in a while when it goes back to Mobile view.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt seems that rooting the Fascinate and fixing the Google Search issue on the soft key and removing some bloatware is pretty easy, and I'm actually contemplating it once I get a Fascinate. Here are my questions: If I root the phone, I would not get OTA updates, when 2.2 came out? I would have to remove the root in order to get that OTA update to 2.2? To remove the root, I would enter the following into a command prompt on the phone or on my PC?

I'm sure I'm missing something stupid. I've turned off notifications in the stock Messaging app (I'm pretty sure). And those look different (they have the green text bubble as the icon). Can anyone clue me in as to what that 2nd notification is below the blue Handcent icon? And can I get rid of it? I'd like to keep the text messages private is why I ask - I have Handcent and the stock Messages under App Protector. And I have Handcent's option checked to not show messages in the bar, just the notification.

My stock internet browser has stopped working I've installed Opera to see if that works and it does but the stock browser wont work anymore, I just get the "web page unavailable" page. I'm using firmware 2.2 and all other apps can connect to the internet ok.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since I flashed a stock 2.2 rooted ROM from ROM Manager, I have been having some big time browsing issues.
Both my stock browser and Dolphin Browser HD are now terribly slow most of the time, despite being OC'ed to 1gHz and having plenty of signal. Both also have a hell of a time with scroll and pinch zoom gestures, often clicking links instead. Dolphin seems more troublesome in that regard though. Text entry is also terribly slow, again seemingly worse in Dolphin. And anytime I attempt to select text from a webpage to be copied to the clipboard, the stock browser crashes.
I've checked all my other apps, and none of them seem to have these problems. Text entry and scrolling are quick and responsive, and I've even FC'ed my other running programs to try to weed out a conflict.
I have a Motorola droid (orig) that when you are web browsing there is a bar that comes up on the bottom right with +/- to adjust zoom level. Does this still exist on the Droid 2 Stock Browser?

Once a call is placed the phone will go black and I am unable to access the onscreen functions (Speaker, Dialpad, etc). I've tried tapping the screen, hitting the back button and hitting the menu button, but the screen remains black. At some point it MAY come on or just briefly flash on. This has been very annoying - especially with calls that require multiple prompts.
