If I want to call "Work," which I have 3 #s programmed for, and I press 9675, the # that pops up is the the first # that shows up for in the contact details, but it is not the one that I have programmed as the default. Are we stuck with this, there a way to change it and I'm overlooking it?

On my blackberry storm I use to be able to make it so that when I press the phone button my call log would show first then I could switch to the dialer if I want. Just trying to save the extra key stroke, is there a way to make it so when I press phone the call log will show first not the dialer?

I got the SF but am wondering if there is a way to delete some of the apps that came with the phone, that are always running in the background. some of the apps are; voice comands, city id, blockbuster, allshare, kindle, skype. I don't use any of these apps, and have no idea how to get them off my phone, or if I even can.

Until yesterday if I had an app like Pandora or ESPN Radio playing/running when the screen kicked off the app would keep playing. However, now when the phone goes to sleep everything else gets shut off. I have not altered anything myself per se. Even uninstalled a few apps like AutoKiller [which I had installed for weeks and everything worked fine with it on and installed] but the problem persists and remains. This really perplexes me as I want/need these apps to play with the screen off like they did before. For the life of me I don't know why this is; nor can I find anything in settings to change.

Is there any settings or apps that will allow SF to return to the home screen when you turn on the phone again? It would be nice not to have to hit the home button each time I turn the phone back on?

Is this possible to do? Landscape mode distorts the background image, and therefore I would like to lock orientation to vertical on phones with accelerometers.

I am using google apps email for several of my websites. the settings are the same as gmail. I am using IMAP.
I setup my @gmail account and one of my @myprivatedomain.com emails in the gmail app and regular email app on my phone. I like using the gmail app as my email app since it auto syncs and you dont have to open and wait for sync like you do w/ the regular email app.Now I can't setup my @myprivatedomain.com emails in the gmail app. I don't understand on the Adroid phones why email setup is so hard. I had one hell of a time on the X and Inc setting up email. Very buggy and intermittent does anyone know what "your phone may not be provisioned for data services" means?

I am trying to customize my dock so I removed all the stock dock icons by choosing the "blank" shortcut. Now when I add a custom icon it won't perform the function because I designated it blank. How do I add the actual function along with the custom icon?

Apparently, since Froyo it's possible to display app in clockwise landscape orientation (e.g. as demoed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4YazuITS1o). However, I can't find anything related in the SDK. How can I display my app this way?

I'm new to android and i was wondering if there's anyway to force landscape mode at all times. Another way of saying it, i never want to see portrait orientation on my device. Is there any settings or apps that will force landscape mode at all times (unless an app requires portrait)?

I just got my eris yesterday (posting with it now), and I am finding typing in landscape quite uncomfortable while headphones are plugged in (i listen to a lot of music). The plug is vertical and doesn't allow me to grip the phone naturally. So, I was wondering if there was a simple way to get the reverse of landscape view. As in the eris's physical buttons would be to the left while typing instead of the right.

I am trying to figure out if landscape orientation should be available all the time, or only for certain programs and apps. My home screen does not rotate, for example. Neither does People (contacts) or my call screen when I'm using the phone. Any clarification would be appreciated.

Is there a trick to getting the Hierarchy Viewer to work in landscape orientation, or is it completely broken? In Pixel Perfect View it shows my screen sideways (i.e. in portrait aspect ratio), but when I click on the views in the explorer area it outlines the wrong areas of the screen. It looks like the outlining assumes the display is in landscape orientation, so it outlines where the views would be if it were oriented correctly. Obviously fixing the display would be the best solution, but barring that I'm OK tilting my head if only the outlining would agree with the display. Anyone know a way around this?

I just got my Droid Eris. It was working fine to go back and forth between landscape and upright, until I calibrated the G-sensor. Now I'm not sure what's going on. I'm not sure if I've done the calibration correctly (I assume you just sit it upright on a flat surface?) or what. It will randomly go into landscape mode, but then I can't get it back upright unless I go to the home screen.

I manually installed the Froyo update this morning. According to features' reports this should give me a 270 rotation. However, after choosing Automatic Rotation in settings, I found that anything with primarily text input defaults to and locks in landscape orientation. This includes google search, email, gtalk and text messaging. I prefer reading my email in portrait, so I can see more than 3 of the emails at a time. And since my text input is calibrated in portrait, landscape is just annoying me.

I'm trying to detect landscape vs portrait orientation with the following:
public void onSensorChanged(SensorEvent event) { float pitch = event.values[2];
if (pitch <= 45 && pitch >= -45) { // portrait }
else if (pitch < -45) { // landscape }
else if (pitch > 45) { // landscape } }
Anyone have something more robust? It works pretty well, except if the phone is in a landscape orientation and the user starts to 'flatten' it out, starts thinking it's in the portrait orientation again.

Here are a few tips with the Fascinate camera:
1. You can access Panorama mode from the Scene menu in the top left. With Panorama mode... you will be guided by a green box, when you get close to take the next snapshot, move very slowly... especially when the green box is almost centered on your screen. This will produce better pictures with less blur.
2. Turn on Anti-shake and Auto-contrast in the settings menu. Turn on Grid if you'd like extra help with taking better photos.
3. Long press the shutter button to auto focus before taking the photo. It's a two-stage button that will take a little bit to auto focus, but it's better than not doing it before taking a photo.
