How do I make groups in my contacts like family, work, friends, etc? Somehow my mom and husband are under these two titles but I dunno how I got them there...

When I create a contact on the phone and assign a group, there are TWO 'friends' and TWO 'family' groups. All the contacts I setup from my GMail account show up in one 'friends' or one 'family' group. The duplicate groups are both empty. I went to an area where I can delete groups but the empty 'friends' and 'family' groups cannot be deleted. However, it looks like the groups I setup at GMail (where all my contacts are in) CAN be deleted. I'd rather not delete those groups because then those contacts will probably no longer be in a group, and the GMail/GContacts distinction will probably be lost. The reason this is annoying is because when I create a new friend contact from the phone I don't know which 'friends' group to add it to. Has anyone else noticed this? Checking my GContacts only shows one 'friends' group and one 'family 'group', but the way.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHas anyone figured out how to do this? When I hold my finger on a text and choose forward, I only get the box where I have to type in each contact individually. Is there a way to show a list of my contacts when forwarding or at least a way to forward to a group? I have groups set up, but there doesnt seem to be a way to access them when forwarding. I have tried every option and every menu and cant find out how to do this on the Epic?

Right now some of them have my GV number but never call it, just my regular cell number. How did some of you make your friends use the GV number instead of your old one? Maybe I should just steal all their phones when they go to the bathroom or something and program it in myself? I'm wondering if it will add any extra charges through their cell plan. I picked a number that doesn't have an area code of where I actually live, it's actually a city about 4 hours away. That's the main thing I'm worried about, I don't want them to have to have any additional fees when they call/text my GV number.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Outlook had 1 set of contacts, I manually put contacts into the Hero. Everything they synced, odd things could sometimes happen. The latest was about 45 minutes ago when Sync ate the picture of my wife. I decided that the problem HAD to be between Outlook and Hero's contacts. I had noticed during all of my other syncs that the Hero would overwrite the bad data in Outlook for me most times, so I made a very bold decision.I deleted all of my contact info from Outlook (I have now realized that "undo" does not work for this) I then plugged in my phone, and told it to sync, knowing that the Hero would put all of my contact info back in. Do you know what happens next? The HTC Sync manager ate all of my friends and family. Because I gave my wife my BB, I deleted all the contacts from it as well, so now, well, looks like i get to start a) attempting to remember everything, and b) entering it all again by hand.

I have a $39.99 package with unlimited data($29.99). So is there a way using google voice and sipdroid or something else to make and recieve free calls or do you have to have the friends and family? On my phone, I know with the Kitkat update it wants to use Google hangouts. I have not set it to use it as it keeps saying I need to add everyone in people to hangouts.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have all of my contacts saved to the phone, deleted all contacts saved on SIM. I now saved everything to google contacts, and even after saving some in various groups, I cannot get the groups to sync over to the vibrant. All of the contacts synced perfectly, but not the groups. I even tried making new groups using different names than the generic google group names. If I display contacts from both the phones memory and google contacts, then it will show me the groups I've selected.

After I switch the display group to "Phone Contacts", it'll stay that way for an hour or so, but later, it'll switch right back to "All contacts". I have my Google contacts in groups, and had hoped that the sync would bring down the group hierarchy. But it did not. However my phone is aware of the Goggle groups, because if I try to create a group in the phone with the same name as a Goggle group, my phone raises an error saying that the group exists. But I have no visibility to my Goggle groups on the phone. I only see a "Google" group. Is it possible to see my Google groups in the phone? If so, how?

Problem is,I have 180+ Google contacts sorted into 11 different groups and I want to assign a specific ringtone for each group. I did this some time ago before the upgrade for each individual contact but I just don't want to do it again. Yeah I'm lazy but what can I say I thought restoring my contacts would have kept the ringtones synced but it did not.I haven't found an app that will do it (a free app anyway).
