Can you change the way the contact list is sorted? I have a lot of companies in my list with no contact name and they currently list by the phone number or email address instead of by company name. Sorting by last name first would be nice too!

View 6 Replies View RelatedEarlier in 1.6 after I look for a contact and view it and press back. It used to come to that position itself but now whenever I press back after viewing a contact, it goes back to the initial position of contacts (i.e. the contacts starting with letter A).
Example in 2.1, if I view a contact (say named "xyz") and press back, it takes me to the starting list of contacts but no such problem was there in 1.6 version. That is after I press back, it took me to the same list of contacts I was viewing earlier (in this case xyz,xy** etc.)
Does anyone else wish that the Android Market had sort options? I know when I browse the Market, I can filter by paid apps vs free apps. That's part-way there... I also want to be able to sort by rating/ranking (# of stars), number of times downloaded, cost, and so on. Also, carry these sort options over to the Search. It's even worse as you have paid and free apps mixed together.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIn my contacts list when I press the contacts button, I see each contact once. I have it set to only show contacts from my phone. When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

It's very easy to enable the contact sorting by Pinyin for zh_CN, but when I take the same method to enable sorting stroke for zh_TW, the sorting result is either sorted by UNICODDE or PinYin. It's very strange. I have investigated the related code located in android_pkgs/external/icu4c/xxx and tried many options but failed to find a wayout. Is there anybody familiar with icu4c or have ever done some work on this topic? Here I'd like to append the steps (mainly on the location android_pkgs/external/icu4c/) I did as reference:
a. append zh_TW into product locales;
b. append the zh_TW support into icu4c/stubdata/Android.mk
c. taking the cfg-us as example, create a folder cfg-us-zh and append zh_xx related 'zh_xxx.res' files;
d. ./helper.sh us-zh will generate a updated icudt38l-us-zh.dat;
e. recompile Android to launch emulator -EOM-

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several contacts that are linked from multiple sources - for example, I have my wife on FB, twitter, Gmail, etc. Currently the contact photo is pulled from Twitter, but it's an old photo and not updated nearly as much as her FB photo. Is there any way to set it so it defaults to Facebook photo for all contacts, or even a way to just change it for specific contacts of my choosing?

I have my Facebook account synced and it shows the pictures under my call log, contacts, dialer, but does not show the contact pictures in my text messages? I've got a situation where someone wants to put their whole paper based client list on their phone, some 200+ contacts, and they don't use Gmail. So I'm going to have to type this thing up, and integrate emails while doing it. The thought of having to type it in on the phone is not encouraging. Anyone run across something like that before? On another side note, any good way of limiting what contacts you receive from Gmail? It updated my phone and I've got maybe 20 I actually talk with and 350 contacts I don't care about now.
I didn't like having my phone numbers showing up in my email contact list, so I turned off contact sync and deleted all the phone numbers from my iGoogle contacts. I do not seem to be able to manage my contact list in my phone, however -- none of the default numbers are the ones that I chose for my previous phone and seem to be in a random order -- and I wondered if putting them into google online would be the way to manage them. I don't send email from my gmail account and don't really need them anyway.
I deleted the emails in my contacts and turned the sync back on. However, I got an error message saying that to sync I had to delete 34 contacts. I assumed this was my phone list, and I didn't want to do that! I thought I told it no and cancelled it, but I just went in to call my child's daycare and my contact list is empty. Is there anyway to get that back? Or am I stuck with repopulating the list all over again? Also, do I have to use the online google to manage the contacts? Or is it in the phone somewhere and I just haven't figured it out yet? After this, I would prefer to not try synching them again.
My contact list got very messed up when the list was transfered over from my old flip phone.There are way too many problems to be able to go through it and make edits. I think the best thing I can do is completely start over clean. What would be the best way to do this?I have a gmail account that was created when I got the phone a month ago but really have never used gmail before. Can I enter a new contact list in gmail on my computer and then somehow copy the list to my phone?Would I be better off using another program that would sync with the phone? I really want to be able to enter the names and numbers on the computer first because obviously it is way easier then typing on the phone.

However, even when this is working correctly, in the contacts section of the text messaging app, it still shows two of everything.
