Oct 11, 2010Anyone know how to delete the ringtones that already come with the phone? I heard you need to be rooted? I hope not since I don't know how to root my phone.

Nov 17, 2010I fought for quite a while trying to add custom ringtones to the epic, don't know why they make it so difficult. Anyway, create a two folders on you phone called "notifications" and "ringtones" these can either be in the root dir of your sd card or nested in another folder. Apperantly it for these it searches for folder names instead of file type. I have my nested in another folder called media. I use this for all external media I add to phone.
Also remember that the phone will find pictures by file type. So any pictures you put anywhere on your sdcard will show up in gallery. This makes it real easy to create folders for sorting pics. If you don't want a certain folder to show up in the gallery just put a "." in the beginning of the name. Then when you want it to show up in the gallery go to the folder, delete the period at the beginning of the name and there it is in gallery. So folder name "confidential pics" will show in gallery but folder name ".confidential pics" wont show up in gallery. I use Astro for changing the folder names on the phone and it works pretty good.

Sep 5, 2010I want to move an ogg notification to the Epic's internal memory so it will play when the SD card is mounted, but I can't move it to the /system/media/audio/notifications folder. I think it's due to NAND not being unlocked? I have root access. tried creating a /media/audio/notifications folder in internal memory and I could move the file to that folder, but neither rings extended nor ringdroid will see it in that location. Is there someway that this is possible, or do we have to wait for NAND unlock? Surely this is an issue that lots of other people have had.

Sep 16, 2010It doesn't seem that you can totally delete browsing history on the Epic. On the browser I pressed Menu, More, and deleted all browsing history, data, cache etc. So when I checked in history there wasn't any websites listed. BUT when in the browser you click on the back button, you still can get to the previously seen sites. So how can you totally delete your browsing history?

Sep 21, 2010Last Friday an OTA update became available for my Epic.I now have Media Hub, which I did not have on my phone when I purchased it last week.Ever since the update while in an application I press the "Home" key to return to my main screen and a window pop-ups that shows 3 options: Home, TWLauncher or LaunchPro. When I click on the check mark "Use by default for this action" and then LaunchPro.I select the LaunchPro by default and you would think that would be the last time i have to do that.It doesn't set it by default and that window keeps popping up every time I try to go back to the touchscreen while inside in an app.I went into the manage applications screen to clear the defaults for the "Home" and "TWLauncher" instead of clearing the defaults for the "LaunchPro". Doing that still doesn't make the LaunchPro the default. When I go back into an application and choose to view my main screen by pressing the "Home" key the pop-up windows comes up for me to make a selection between "Home", "TWLauncher" or "LaunchPro".
I also did download a Home launcher program called "Home Switcher". That still does not lock in the default for me to use LaunchPro.It seems to me that I'm going to have to go to the Sprint store for them to fix the problem, unless you have any more ideas.I did try to troubleshoot this the best I could before posting my problem on here. I'm at a loss as to what to do. Other than this bug I love my Epic.Can anyone help me? I really don't want to go to the Sprint store about this. Is this a permanent bug or is there a solution out there for this? Maybe this is a bug that the 2.2 Froyo update could fix.

I have a terminal emulator installed, so I think that would be the place to start, but am unsure if I can delete anything that's not on the SD card. I'm more worried what may happen if I do this. My reasoning for doing this is that I hate the built in ringtones, and have placed mp3's on the sdcard under /Ringtones and they show up in my Ring tones (no need to use the media player to do so). Or do I need to install alternate ringtones? If so, what are some good ringtone apps to handle this? I have thought about Foxyring, but after reading some of the comments about it, I'm not too sure it's the best for what I'm trying to do.
