May 16, 2010I just bought my first phone ever, so far I'm not overly impressed, it's about as stable as win98. The built in gmail is crap...if I send mail from gmail webpage I have no. problem, but if I send it from the phone I get errors or the mail floats off into space, who knows where it goes. Is there a way to un-install all this junk, there are at least 10-15 applications on this phone I have absolutely no use for and just eat up battery and ram? Update, was reading some other forums and I guess you can't really, or you have to hack the crap out of your phone...to bad I guess, they should make an Android lite version, I don't need Facebook, Twitter, nfl, stocks, nascar, or another half a dozen apps that came with the phone.

Aug 23, 2010So I just installed Easy Root because I was so disappointed with the new OTA update I just had to do something...So a few questions that I have are what are some must have apps to have with having a rooted Droid 1. Not much seems to be different, I am still having lag time from loading up my icons when I go back to home which was originally my main problem with the update. I have so far just downloaded Rom Manager, Wireless Tether, and Set CPU which is set at 600 mhz Max and 125 Mhz, is that alright? My last question is how do I delete the pre installed apps? Custom Roms, and kernels whats that all about? Sorry for the new bs questions I'm just really lost and have no idea what I am doing.

I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.

On the browser I pressed Menu, More, and deleted all browsing history, data, cache etc. So when I checked in history there wasn't any websites listed. Sep 21, 2010Got the Samsung Desk Dock for easy re-charging and using phone on nightstand. If I use the Samsung Desk Home app from the market, that app automatically detects that the phone is in the dock and runs the app. However, no other app is able to detect that the phone is docked, even with the Desk/Home app uninstalled (i.e. not the default). My understanding is that the phone should send a signal to Android if the device is being docked. Then Android sends a broadcast to all apps that the device has been docked. I have tested with two different apps which are designed to run upon the phone being docked and neither detects the phone being docked. Without the Samsung dock app loaded, there is no change when the phone is docked. It seems like only the Samsung app is capable of detecting docking. Am I missing something? How can I get the Epic to send out the "normal" signal to other apps upon being docked?

Oct 11, 2010So I did a hard reset of my Vibrant a few days ago (delete user data). I was able to reinstall most of my apps very easily because the market still had them listed in the downloads section. The only problem is, the preinstalled apps were all reset to their original versions, and I can't update them. The two that I'm concerned with in particular are Google Maps and T-Mobile My Account. If I look at them in the market, the only control available is "Open". "Uninstall" is greyed out and disabled. Basically, the market thinks that I already have the latest version installed, even though I don't, so it doesn't give me the option to update. The My Account app is completely broken. If I try to run it, it just sends me to the market saying that I need to update it. Then of course, the market doesn't give me that option, so I can't use the app at all.
