Samsung EPIC 4G :: When Browser Opened - Screen Brightness Dims Down?
Aug 31, 2010I have the brightness turned all the way up but when I open a web page it dims down? Then when I exit it goes back to normal bright. Is this normal?

Motorola Droid :: Minimize Brightness Button That Dims Screen Further?
Jun 3, 2010So I'm using NexBeast v1.1 on my Droid and noticed in the clock app there is a brightness button that dims the screen even further (similar to the bedside app I'm guessing). Unfortunately the screen dimness only lasts while in that app. I was wondering: is there a way to set the overall phone brightness itself that low or keep the screen that dim outside of the app? The lowest brightness in the Droid settings is still a bit too bright for me.

Oct 9, 2010I have two constant issues on my Epic-I've been ignoring them for a month but there must be a fix & I could really use your help! Also it would be good to hear from others who are seeing the same things so I know I am not completely insane...
1 - My screen brightness seems to adjust up on its own... To increase battery life I have it set all the way down...but, for example, as I was typing this post the brightness increased on its own... Any ideas?
2 - My voice recognition stops working all the time...not with one app either... Resetting my profile seems to fix it for about 5 minutes but it doesn't take long for it to go TU again

I've noticed that after closing the web browser (well hitting the home key as there is no obvious exit option) and then re-opening it, the browser shows the page I was last at which makes me wonder if it's still running in the background and consuming battery (same with the PDF viewer). Am I right in thinking this and if so how do I close it?

Apr 7, 2010I've had the hero for about a month now, great phone but today some issues arose. When I launch the browser, my home page is google. However it google now loads in Spanish and none of the links will work (thee get highlighted but doesn't take me any where). The same is true for any of my bookmarks, the site loads but is missing images etc., seems to be all text etc., and none of the links work. I've already cleared everything, cache, history passwords etc., and even tried inputting new sites and tried loading them, same scenario, site loads but no images, format is different and links don't work. All other apps work, gmail, calendar etc.

When clicked, it uses the GPS/Cell phone towers to figure out the location. I tried the google.loader.clientLocation but that only works using the IP address. Is there a method to tap into the Android OS and access GPS data from a regular web application (and not an Android application) similar to the way Google does? [Perhaps Google uses the Google Gears app on Android to access this data.]

Nov 6, 2012I'm running CM7.2 nightlies on an LG P999 (Canadian version of the G2x). Over the past few weeks, I've had issues where the screen will dim as it approaches the display timeout, but never turn off completely. This is intermittent, and I have yet to notice a consistent pattern. I've been searching to try to find a cause but with no luck so far. I am familiar with using BetterBatteryStats and thelike to track down issues with wakelocks and not going to sleep, but i don't know what to use/look for in this instance (ie how to identify apps that might block the screen from shutting down).

Aug 3, 2010Ok so I'm about a week and a half maybe more in with the froyo rom the newst one and while I love it especially the battery life. I'm experiencing some new problems that I don't recall having before. The screen will randomly turn off even though I have the screen delay set to 2 minutes. Other times it will just get dim to about 30 percent regardless of the brightness setting. I'm wondering if this is strict lg a hardware issue or something to do with the rom? I'm just afraid one time its not going to turn back on lol. Also I'm having data lockups where I have to restart the phone at least once a day. I don't recall experiencing this before. A little help and or understanding would be much appreciated on these 2 topics....also does anyone know of any better roms? Like one where wireless tethering app actually works? I have yet to have it work since installing this rom.

Oct 21, 2010Sometimes when I shut the slider quickly the phone shuts down. Then today it did it when I set it down on a table, and when I turned it back on the battery went from 42 to 12 percent. I then reset the phone and it was at 24 percent. Is anyone else having this problem? Could the battery just be losing contact?

Aug 8, 2010Loving the phone, the auto-dim works great when I pull the phone closer or away from my face. My issue is when I'm playing a ROM on my phone for an extended period of time (maybe 15 minutes), I notice that the screen either gets brighter for a few moments, or will get dimmer. The seems to happen without any warning or prompting maybe it occurs because I accidentally hit the home button, then return to the ROM and once the phone knows I'm just playing the ROM it dims to conserve battery? And when I say dim, I mean ever-so-slightly. It doesn't turn black or anything.

Sep 1, 2010Also the softkey buttons stay lit up above the trackpad. Running Frankenrom right now but also had it on the new deodexed leak. Reboot cures it for quite awhile, but it seems to return eventually. I think it's possible it might be due to creating a custom profile in SetCPU for "Screen Off" mode. Just wanted to verify if anybody has pinned it down yet. Happens both when charging and during normal use.

May 29, 2010I have noticed this issue a handful of times and thought I would assk here ot see what others have seen.
At times - while I am typing on the keyboard in some app (email, web or other) the screen will noticeably dim a bit for a few seconds and then will brighten back to what it was before. It may do it again before I am done typing.
This does not happen every single time I type on it, but probably at least once a day. any ideas on what is going on? Has anyone else seen this?
