Has anyone been able to get the camera to focus on small items? I was trying to take a picture of a praying mantis on a flower today and could not get it to focus on the insect. I tried different settings including macro and portrait etc. Anyone have any tips on how to get this camera to focus on an object this small?

Had no problem getting my phone to play nice with our exchange server at work and emails are coming/going fine.
However, there are some configuration items I have a big issue with as it relates to the 'look' of the email (coming from a BlackBerry).
1. Is there any way to have a single folder show my received items and sent items combined? My BB had this and it was very useful.
2. How can I edit the way my folders are displayed at the top horizontal bar? The sidescrolling folder display is awkward, it puts my inbox first (good) but then all subsequent folders are listed alphabetically; it pays no attention to their order on my desktop and also shows sub-folders of other files. Any way to change this?
3. Is there a way to change the way emails show as unread? The difference b/n read and unread is only a shade of grey, and difficult to see outside.
I using launcher pro and trying to go with a minimalistic looking setup. I have battstat and digital clock running on my front page and I would like a nice weather widget. I have seen some on other peoples screens but can't seem to find the right one. I tried beautiful Widgets but had too much going on. Basically what I want is a small weather widget that fits in the corner of the screen with a transparent background? Any suggestions?
View 13 Replies View RelatedStarted lastnight and AT&T doesn't seem to know what's up. I was fooling around with the AT&T Nav and the Google Nav when it happned. Not that I haven't mess with them before but I found it strange. Also got a small screen that popped up once when I went into applications saying Sim on/off with the choices to click ok or cancel. I'm baffled. Any help would be appreciated. Might just walk into AT&T for a replacement...
View 1 Replies View RelatedVertically between the at&t logo and the handset speaker and to the left, there are 2 cutouts of the black trim behind the screen plastic/surface. They almost look like LEDs (although I realize they aren't, or shouldnt be). You can see them in the owners manual pics but they arent labeled on their diagram, and I can't figure out what they are.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was looking at the Captivate and the iphone4 in store today and when comparing the same web pages in full page view the text on the Captivate was much smaller than the iphone4, even though the iphone screen is smaller. Zoom just made everything bigger so it wasn't in full page anymore. Is there a way to make the text bigger while in full page view? On a side note, that iphone4 screen is super sharp for text and the whites were much whiter vs the blueish tint on the Captivate.

Ugly colors, minimal layout, contact picture too small, etc... So many other features on the phone are so polished, it just seems odd that the call screen would look so unfinished - it's almost looks like a development placeholder that they never got around to updating.

I use Gmail instead of the Mail app, so I would like to remove the Mail app and put Gmail there instead. View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got a ListView that works just great, except for this minor annoyance. I can use the trackball/dpad to move up and down my list, and the background changes according to which row has focus. But when I touch the row (click or long click), there's no background change letting me know what's been focused. I've tried setting 'focusable' and 'focusable in touch mode' to true on the rows, but it still doesn't work.
Just in case it matters somehow:
I am setting onClickListeners for each row. The row is comprised of LinearLayouts, TextViews, and a single ImageView. Focusable/clickable is 'true' for each row. Have not specified values for these on the ListView.
Trackable does act funny. I can only move between rows after touching inside the ListView. If I scroll trackball above the first item, it's impossible for me to scroll back into the list.

My goal is to be able to change the text color and the backgorund of these child views whenever the parent is selected or pressed.
I rooted my Captivate tonight and I know how the superuser icon with android skull and crossbones. However neither Super Manager or ASTRO will allow me to uninstall the crap ware on my phone. Is there something I'm missing? I followed all the steps at XDA. So far I've tried to remove YPMobile, ATT Navigator, and ATT Maps. Any suggestions? I tried searching this on google and this forum but didn't come up with anything.

I'm shooting in high quality and in 1280x960 resolution but when I download the pics to my laptop they are coming out 424x320. I bumped up the resolution and same thing, small pics. The stock camera is working fine shooting at 1280x768 resolution
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I'm taking pictures with the EVO to post here and while I'm holding the phone watching the autofocus do its thing, and when it finally takes the pic, its settles on a focus that is not as sharp as it could be. While it is focusing, there are moments when the autofocus will have focused perfectly but it keeps focusing past that point.. I looked through ALL the settings and couldn't figure it out... Is there a way to manually focus the camera other than physically moving the camera forward or backwards?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just don't get it: when I use the camera with an intent and also specify an output file, the returned image is always very small on many devices (e.g. Motorola Milestone 2.1, HTC Desire 2.1, Emulator 2.1, Emulator 2.0.1) but not on all (e.g. Nexus One). Here's what I do to bring up the camera app:

As title - having tried everything I could find already suggested, I've completely run out of options. I'm unable to set the picture size taken by the camera on the Samsung Galaxy.
I don't set preview size anywhere and I've tried the ShutterCallback trick. On checking the camera parameters before and after attempting to change the size, I get the correct results - the camera *reports* that its size has now been changed... however, the size of the byte array I'm receiving in the onPictureTaken() callback is only consistent with the camera's default (enormous) image - and forces an OutOfMemoryError when I attempt to decode it into a bitmap!

My app is struggling to take focused shots. Is there a built in facility that sets an auto-focus property on the camera, so it automatically takes clear and focused images. I've noticed that feature in numerous well-known apps such as ShopSavvy, CompareEverywhere, etc. Could you advise on how to achieve that?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThinking of sending it back to Orange as an insurance job but before I go through the hassle I wondered if anyone had these symptoms and what they did to fix it. The camera doesn't seem to focus which results in blurry images all the time. I have removed the battery cover and cleaned the lens and the inside of the lens protector but it still doesn't work. I use my camera quite a bit so it has become a source of frustration. I am using the stock camera app and the fault has only developed over the past week.

View 7 Replies View RelatedBasically, something happened, my phone's battery died, and as usual,I just switched in a new battery, turned it on, it went to the splash screen, the glowing S.and then turned off.I tried to charge the phone, that didn't work.I thought the battery might just be dead, so I charged it over night, but nope.After I put a battery in, it does it's usual swoooshhh noise, turns on, S glows, then turns off.Then it won't turn on again until I take out the battery, put it back in, after which I turn on and the same thing again. Just for more information, the screen sticks on the glowing S for a reallllyyy long time, and it doesn't go through the "Turning off" animation anymore either. What's weird is I didn't even do anything at all with it this past week, other than play Angry Birds, call/text some people, and use the alarm on it.No idea what went wrong at all.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFrom reading some reviews, it looks like the camera on the Captivate kinda sucks in anything but great lighting. And, even in great lighting, the camcorder picks up way too much noise and has wind noise even when there is no wind. For you guys who got yours early, is that really the case? Did some of the early reviewers get bad units?
I'm really disappointed that the camera isn't top-of-the-line. It seems that Apple is the only company on the planet willing to not skip any corners with their hardware. Can't one, single Android maker just make a phone without the compromises? I love Android, but no one seems willing to step up and make some hardware worthy of it. Arg.. I'm so sick of that boring-ass, restrictive iOS, but I may have to get it anyway just because I'm not willing to carry around and Android phone and a Flip video camera at the same time.
