Another thing (beside LED notification) I cannot find on the body of my Cappy: the button to start camera instantly. I came from Motorola Milestone (left to my wife) where button dedicated to camera was obvious.Anyone knows if any of outside buttons can be used as bringing camera in?

well a couple of questions actually. So first is it possible to only view pictures taken by the camera when I press the review button in the camera app? for example, not only do the pictures I take come up but also pictures of wallpapers and other saved images located in different folders show up. I also wanted to know if it was possible to have the take picture button be moved to the hold button.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed while trying to put my phone into download mode that my camera button appears to be remapped or buggered in some way. The phone would simply never go into download mode (vol down/camera/end) and would, instead, just boot up like normal. I thought that the battery was too low or something of that sort, so I let the phone boot up and just tried to use each button to see how they would go. Volume down and end worked fine, but when I push camera, instead of actually taking a picture, the camera button seems to:
1) Adjust the volume up and down
2) Go to my contacts list
3) Dial the contact at the top of the list
While I'm sure I could talk to my local Mazda dealer about _something_, I can actually call them on my own just fine without the help of my camera button. But, what's worse is that I'm sure the camera button's remapping (or whatever) is what's causing me difficulties getting this thing into download mode.
Is there a way to disable that stupid button? I hate the location of it. Also, is there some kind of slide-to-unlock feature for these phones? I know we have the slide security pad thing, but I was wondering more along the lines of the iPhone and Droid... slide a button across the screen to unlock.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't have ChompSMS, never have, I do however have Handcent SMS downloaded but this isn't the app that opens when I press the camera button. It's the default messaging application. There is no setting for "shortcuts" or whatever has been created with my camera button.

Strange thing happened.When I try to disable the cammera button ( Galaxo+ settings ) it doesn't work.In fact all it will do is force close on me. Everything else in 1.6.3.3 seems to be behaving quite well for me, even taking pictures.Haven't had the pixelated or no image thing at all.Is there something I am missing that I could try ?

View 14 Replies View RelatedFrom reading some reviews, it looks like the camera on the Captivate kinda sucks in anything but great lighting. And, even in great lighting, the camcorder picks up way too much noise and has wind noise even when there is no wind. For you guys who got yours early, is that really the case? Did some of the early reviewers get bad units?
I'm really disappointed that the camera isn't top-of-the-line. It seems that Apple is the only company on the planet willing to not skip any corners with their hardware. Can't one, single Android maker just make a phone without the compromises? I love Android, but no one seems willing to step up and make some hardware worthy of it. Arg.. I'm so sick of that boring-ass, restrictive iOS, but I may have to get it anyway just because I'm not willing to carry around and Android phone and a Flip video camera at the same time.
I bought phone holder for car, and there is two problems bugging me:
1 since holder is pressing camera button is there any way to disable its functionality temporarily (same question for volume buttons too)?
2 Is there any app that can take phone to speakerphone mode when I answer it during car drive?
I took a picture with my camera then when I went back to take another picture. I pressed the dedicated camera button and it takes me to a message compose screen. I deleted a lot of apps thatt I had on my phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOne thing that has been bugging me is the 4 buttons at the bottom and the lack of sensitivity. I find myself pushing them 2, 3 times to get the expected response. Sometimes I know it's OS lag, but other times i really think/thought it was an issue with the buttons.I changed my default keyboard from Samsung to Android and I think the buttons work great now. Can anyone else confirm? Maybe it's just in my head.

If not: I strongly suggest we get a huge number of people to say they would be interested in buying a flashlight/camera flash add-on for the phone were someone to develop one. My camera stopped working at the worst time just when I needed to take some pics at a dinner today. Has anyone encountered a "Camera Failed" message after opening the Camera application? I tried rebooting many times (at least 5-6 times) hoping it was a software glitch, but would not go away. I was testing the GPS navigation (using Google Maps) and my battery drained from 60% to 30% in 20 mins!! Does using navigation or low battery charge screw up the camera?I was sure it was a HW defect thinking I had to return the unit, but when I got home, and plugged into wall charger for a few minutes, I found that camera started working again.

When I click that button to take a picture it's NEVER lined up like it was before. It's even more obvious if I use the crop feature.I can point at a logo and crop it perfectly and hold the phone absolutely still and press the button. When it shows the processing screen it looks like the camera shot is a couple inches below where it showed on the previous camera screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my Captivate for a few weeks now. I've noticed since day one that the search button 'hard button' on the lower right of the phone, mysteriously 'pressed itself'. The first few times I figured I pushed it on accident with my pinky or something. That Is Not The Case. I know I'm not going crazy but every once in awhile, the hard button lights will go on and the vibrate (I have vibrate set to on) will go on and the search will pop up. All on it's own. This happens at least 5 times a day. If not more. It doesn't do it on any one specific page, it does it no matter what I'm doing on my phone. Sometimes I'll literally watch it just laying in my hand when my phone is on and the search will pop up.

With android, it is huge step backward, where you have to first click the home screen to get to the call button. Please tell me I am overlooking something very simple because I cannot imagine Android missing out such a big part. So I never upgraded to the new version of launcher pro and just about ten minutes ago I hit my home button and it automatically takes me to launcherpro.com and says that my current version is expired and to download the new one. Problem is I can't get to the market because my home button doesn't work. So all that works is my browser, 4 physical buttons, and I can pull down my notification bar. So I really need to figure out a way to get to the market or switch to touch wiz.

It hasn't moved elsewhere because I also noticed 2GB more space freed up on the internal SD card. Luckily I backed up 1.7GB+ of it recently. Just a warning for you guys to keep constant backup!
