Samsung Captivate :: Speaker Randomly Stopped Working
Sep 6, 2010No sound from the speaker, just randomly happened. Rebooting doesn't work. I have not rooted the phone.

General :: Samsung Galaxy - Speaker Stopped Working?
Sep 26, 2013im having a problem with my samsung galaxy s advance. Few weeks ago i spilled some pepsi over my phone. I dried it and everything was working fine. 3 days ago, my speaker stopped working. I reflashed my firmware and it worked for about 5 seconds and then it made cracking sound and would not work. I noticed that, if i suck air from the speaker with my mouth(sometimes i can just put my mouth over it) it would work for 5-30 seconds. But as soon as i remove my mouth it stops working.

Aug 17, 2010Got some weird problem:
The ear speaker in my Evo stopped working, presumably after 2.2 upgrade. I cannot hear anything during phone call or when I listen to voice mail. When I turn on speaker or insert headphones - I hear fine.
I got this problem with one Evo and thought it was a hardware problem. Sprint exchanged it. Got the new Evo, upgraded to 2.2 and now the same issue. I did checked the ear speaker before upgrade and it was working.
Hard reset did not help. I checked all the settings I could.
I found on another forum that someone had similar issue. Anyone else? Any suggestions?
Samsung Captivate :: Texting Stopped Working
Jul 29, 2010I followed the directions for turning off 3g (to get better battery life) and now I cannot send text messages. I can receive but not send any messages. I have tried soft resetting, and putting things back to how they were before, but to no avail.

Oct 24, 2010Didn't do anything different. All of a sudden it stopped working. It sees it and connects to it, but can't browse the web or update from other apps, etc. Rebooted phone and told it to "forget" my connection and reset it. Nothing helped. Other computers in the house connect fine.

Jul 31, 2010My search button on my Dinc randomly stopped working today. It lights up and when I press it, I do in fact receive the haptic feedback. It just doesn't do anything. Is there a setting somewhere I might have screwed up somehow? I haven't changed anything and I did try rebooting a few times.

May 16, 2014My Google play store randomly stopped working earlier today. It isn't closing or crashing. It is just endlessly loading. No time out message or error message. Tried with both 4g and wifi. I am using a Galaxy s3 on Verizon, jelly bean 4.3. The only thing I noticed is that Clash of Clans updated this morning but I was able to get on and download the update and then get back on play store but like not long after that it won't open.

Aug 15, 2010How exactly is the speaker on the Samsung Captivate? I'm with an iPhone 2G and I think things sound louder with headsphones+max volume than the iPhone's speaker. Like, the only way I can hear a song outloud with a few others is if we're not near anyone or anywhere outside or making any noise. I mean, it's the most fail I've probably seen on phone in terms of a speaker. That being said, I'm hoping the Captivate has a decent speaker?
Also, durability? I've dropped my iPhone 2G at least, with no exaggeration, 30 times, and yeah, it's holding up. Backs filled with more scratches than anything, the bottom plastic is starting to tear up a little, but other than that, it's working and not broken. Will I survive with the Captivate?
I'm going to be trialing the iPhone 4 for a month or so via my dad and his workplace's offer, and yeah, within the next month, I'm going Captivate or i4...Hopefully, works well, since I've only stayed a year with almost all of my phones (except the iPhone 2G, which was three years =0...gotta love that app store). I'm really hoping Samsung comes out with some GPS fix, too, because my directions fail and I'm hoping to substitute my phone for a GPS...I've managed to work with it on the iPhone 2G via cell tower positioning/wi-fi+google maps for now, but yeah, I don't think I'd like a phone that shows me on the wrong street.
Samsung Captivate :: Hsupa - Speaker Volume VERY Low?
Jul 20, 2010I'm really not crazy about this phone after playing with it the other day at the at&t store. The earpiece speaker volume is VERY low. Reception drops like a cinder block, from holding it pretty much anywhere. Its pretty chuggy, and i'm not very confident about support from the community. that being said, there are a lot of nice things about the phone. Howerver, one thing it HAS to have, is HSUPA. I tried to do an upload test, but i couldnt find any sites that worked. And i didnt know if here was an app i could get, plus the market wasnt set up.

Aug 7, 2010A few minutes ago my signal just showed no service for the second time. It was totally random, just like the last time and I don't think it's an AT&T problem because I was stationary in my house, where I've never seen this happen on my past devices. (Happened a few times on the iphone, but it only showed searching for about a second, then it came right back). On the Captivate it will show no service and won't come back until I reboot the phone. I'm not in a fringe service area (usually have 3 bars of 3g). Has anyone seen this happen on theirs? I'm trying really hard not to return it, but some of the bugs are getting pretty annoying.
I'm going to install CT Scheduler and run a reboot every morning. If it happens again, it may be going back...
Samsung Captivate :: Phone Randomly Shut Down Itself
Aug 5, 2010Bought the Captivate on launch day. I had problems with the battery, phone restarting by itself, buttons at the bottom would not register when pushed. Took that Captivate back yesterday and exchanged it for a new one. The new one I got works much better. Little to no lag, buttons are working properly, and the battery is much better. Used it until about 3% of battery was left then put the charger in. Fully charged by midnight, unplugged it and went to sleep. Woke up this morning to find out the phone shut itself off last night. I woke up and tried to check my emails but the screen would not turn on. Held the power button and the phone turned on as if it was just starting it up. I bought my phone from a authorized AT&T reseller so I'm hoping they'll let me exchange it for another one again.
I called Samsung tech support but they weren't much of a help. They said I can send it in for repair or take it back to where I got it for another exchange. My phone is not rooted and not tampered with in anyway. I downloaded all the same apps for it which were only about 6 so far. The only new one I did download was one of those Sense Digital Clock ones and put the widget on my home screen. Other than that the phone is set up just like my previous one. I deleted the Sense Digital Clock app so maybe that was the culprit? I really do not want to take this one back again as the one shut down is the only problem. I'm going to wait a couple days to see what happens. My 30 days are up on the 17th so if it keeps on shutting down I'm taking this one back.
Samsung Captivate :: Gps Icon Running Randomly / Why Is So?
Aug 10, 2010Does anyone know why my GPS icon on the top toolbar of my phone would be running randomly? I have no apps running that would require it to come on and the only way to get it to turn off is to power the phone down and then turn it back on. It doesn't bother me.but I do believe it is running my battery down faster then normal.

Sep 25, 2010Ever since I've updated my phone shuts down randomly. Maybe once every other day, sometimes less. It would be a huge issue but my phone is also my alarm clock for getting up for work at 4am. I don't have any app killers, or battery savers installed. One thing I did notice POST update was, when you go into the running applications menu. The uptimes on the system apps seem to indicate the phone shuts them down to sleep or something. Several times Ive noticed, that even though my phone has been on for several days, the system apps have been running for 5/ 8 hours.

Nov 30, 2010My phone shut off randomly for the first time this morning luckily it didn't shut off early in the morning as I use my captivate as an alarm clock for my 8 am class. Anyway, I was just wondering if I should be worried? I've only had it for two weeks so I can still get a replacement phone but up until today I had no severe problems. Gps worked fine, battery life was good. I do experience some lag at times. For example, I'll click on messages and I'll have a black screen for ten seconds until my messages come up. Just wondering if I should be worried since it shut down for the first time if I end up having to get a replacement phone I feel like I'll only have the same problems since this is a common problem. I don't want to have to get an iphone, to be honest, I played around with it at the apple store the other day and I wasn't impressed. The captivate has so much more features and the home screen on the iphone just bores me. But the iphone works straight out of the box.
