Jul 23, 2010First I recommend installing Home Switcher which will allow you to more easily switch between launchers if you choose to do so. From within the program you can see how easy it is to switch between them and/or make one the default.Once you have set your preferred launcher, go back to the home screen and you should see that your dock has changed to something similar to the next screen shot.To change the settings hit the MENU soft key (beneath the screen) and you should see this:Click on Preferences and that gives you access to all of the settings to customize the look & feel of Launcher Pro.To change the items in the dock, press and hold on the item you want to change. You will see a pop up that looks like the following:To change the item, choose one of the selections in that list and then follow the on screen directions.

Sep 22, 2010Has anyone noticed the following after the update?YouTube has a new stock home page widget which shows most popular videos ( that seems to mean that it is constantly checking now)The screen brightness is darker. I always have the screen set as low as it can go (I use quick settings) but now it appears darker then before.

Jul 21, 2010I thought it might be useful to create a thread to suggest apps in. The nature of the forums will determine if this is a good idea or not by whether it gets stickied or buried. I'm new to Android and we're all new to the Captivate (sans Galaxy S owners). I suggest that we keep to 4 simple posting guidelines to make this thread as useful as possible. You can add material, but give us these as a minimum guideline. If you can, update your post if your experience changes after you post. 1. 1 app per post. The idea is to give a single post that gives at least a basic review of a given app. Not a 10 thread "discussion". just a single post. Please dont repeat app reviews. We can start a thread for individual apps. 2. Please only review apps you have personally installed and used a bit. Not "some guy you know", not "this friend of mine", not even "I knew this alien once who...". Personal experience, with the app, on this phone only. 3. Please avoid commenting on other posts. By definition, this isnt a "right or wrong" thread and if the posting rules are followed, at least 1 person had those actual, literal results. 4. If you can give a very brief description of what type of user you are (heavy, lite, etc) and what kind of environment you're in most of the time (Inside office, driving, etc), this will help others adjust your experiences based on their environment and usage.

Samsung Captivate :: Set Wallpaper From Own Gallery?
Jul 20, 2010When I try to set a wallpaper from my own gallery, it only allows me to select a specific part of the picture. For example on the iphone I could resize the selection to fit the screen as much as I wanted. But the captivate sets a box and i cant make it bigger or smaller to select the entire wallpaper. and also doesn't matter how high res the picture is, it always looks blurry. Unlike the stock wallpapers, they look super sharp and clear. Anyone know what im doing wrong or how to fix it so i can choose to display an entire picture as my wallpaper rather than just a small portion?

Aug 8, 2010i bought two samsung galaxy s and both have their own individual issues mine has the issue of turning off by itself which i found previous post about but the other one which im posting about consistently changes the background back to the default bubble blue live wallpaper, would anyone know if this is a app issue or a hardware issue with the phone becuase i wanna make sure i go back and exchange it, if thats the issue, if its something that can be fixed then please give me the solution because i really dont wanna exchange it and setup the phone all over again for my girlfriend.

Sep 10, 2010i have been trying to figure out how to use an image for my wallpaper, but the crop box comes up over it everytime, and it forces me to crop the picture , which makes it fuzzy and incomplete. this also happens when adding an image to a contact. HELP? I have tried stretching the crop box as far as it will go, but that is only 50%at best. i also have tried NOT tapping anything on the screen other than save but it still crops it.

Jul 24, 2010My captivate seems to keep freezing when doing things, most notably when I goto my downloads on the market, using Zedge to download a new wallpaper or using juiceplotter and just opening it, I get a black screen and it sits for a period of time approx a min or two...anyone else having these types of issues. I did do a factor reset this morning and also installed adw.launcher, but it still does it when using those programs and some others just can't remember which ones right off hand. thanks!!

Jul 22, 2010Im using launcher pro. I only have one dock. When I set a wallpaper to my home screen it always stretches it out past the screen. Even if I use a wallpaper with the correct screen resolution(800 x 480), it still never displays correct on the screen. It seems to always "zoom in".Any idea?

Jul 16, 2010There's an update.zip for a port of the Galaxy-S live wallpapers here. That contains all the live wallpapers included on the international Galaxy-S. The only one missing from the Captivate is "Ocean Wave". Can someone more familiar with this sort of thing modify that zip to only include "Ocean Wave" as I don't want to risk my other Live Wallpapers. Or does anybody know a different way to get it on the Captivate? (I tried using ADB to just install the .apk for Ocean Wave, and got a force close when I ran it, so that was no good.)

There are so many cool looking home screens and wallpapers that I can't make up my mind. May 15, 2010Since we have a small wait ahead of us for the EVO to hit shelves. I thought it would be a good idea to share some wallpapers with each other. We know the phone's specs, resolution and know what to expect for the most part so why not get ready for the big launch day with some potential wallpapers to use. I'll start it off in my following post with some that I borrowed from the Incredible forum. Just a note: It seems the best resolution to use for the EVO would be 960x800. Please post that size. If you find something that would make a great wallpaper and you'd like to share it, maybe crop the selection to that size or resize it. There is a way to post the pictures as thumbs but I really don't know it. If anyone is willing to share that, I'd resize it even small. Let's try and keep it as easy for people to share as possible. Now to the selection!

I just picked up my EVO the other day and would like to share some of my wallpapers I've made.I'm work as an Art Director/Graphic Designer for an Advertising company in SoCal, as well as own my own design company, R-KIVE Studios. I design in multiple software applications including; Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Maya, 3DStudio, and many more.All uploaded wallpapers will be 960x800 and saved in an optimized format to keep file sizes low, but also keep the best looking image possible.I will also be taking requests. One warning, they could take a while, as I am quite busy between my day job and my own company. I will do my best to fulfill them in a timely manner though.I have made a Photoshop Template (960x800 PSD) with layers and grid layout, including all launch bars for every page. I have made a folder called YOUR ART HERE that you should put all of your wallpapers in. Be sure to turn off all layers above so that it only saves the wallpaper and not the template.
