Has anyone noticed the following after the update?YouTube has a new stock home page widget which shows most popular videos ( that seems to mean that it is constantly checking now)The screen brightness is darker. I always have the screen set as low as it can go (I use quick settings) but now it appears darker then before.

From within the program you can see how easy it is to switch between them and/or make one the default.Once you have set your preferred launcher, go back to the home screen and you should see that your dock has changed to something similar to the next screen shot.To change the settings hit the MENU soft key (beneath the screen) and you should see this:Click on Preferences and that gives you access to all of the settings to customize the look & feel of Launcher Pro.To change the items in the dock, press and hold on the item you want to change. The nature of the forums will determine if this is a good idea or not by whether it gets stickied or buried. I'm new to Android and we're all new to the Captivate (sans Galaxy S owners). I suggest that we keep to 4 simple posting guidelines to make this thread as useful as possible. You can add material, but give us these as a minimum guideline. If you can, update your post if your experience changes after you post. 1. 1 app per post. The idea is to give a single post that gives at least a basic review of a given app. Not a 10 thread "discussion". just a single post. Please dont repeat app reviews. We can start a thread for individual apps. 2. Please only review apps you have personally installed and used a bit. Not "some guy you know", not "this friend of mine", not even "I knew this alien once who...". Personal experience, with the app, on this phone only. 3. Please avoid commenting on other posts. By definition, this isnt a "right or wrong" thread and if the posting rules are followed, at least 1 person had those actual, literal results. 4. If you can give a very brief description of what type of user you are (heavy, lite, etc) and what kind of environment you're in most of the time (Inside office, driving, etc), this will help others adjust your experiences based on their environment and usage.

I have a separate thread running to get data from the internet. After that, I would like to update the ListView in the main thread by calling adapter.notifyDataSetChanged(). But it does not work. Any workaround for that?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf your download fully cancels in the middle, do not resume the download. When you try to resume - the phone will think you want to resume installation [it thinks the download is complete] and will update the phone with the partial firmware download. For those phones that were bricked, that is what was said happened to them - myself included. Now, why would the update not realize the firmware isn't complete and just abort the update is beyond me. Many of us ended up with paperweights from that. Had to go to AT&T to replace the phone last night.

I read that ODIN3 would restore factory settings; but, several people that used ODIN3 warned against using it unless there was no other option.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI picked up my phone about two weeks ago and there was an update right away. I had no problen downloading it through the phone and it turned out to be 2.1.1. So a week later I wanted to check again, when I do it says connection failed or something similar. Now each time it does this I have to wait 24hrs befor I can retry. Tonight was the 4th try. I've attempted this from different locations both with good 3G signal.

What bothers me the most is, if the Epic has the GPS fix, why not the rest of us? Goes to prove that the GPS issue might still be being worked on and Samsung/Sprint are just trying to calm fears.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently got my Samsung Captivate and it works pretty well (even the GPS) however, when I try to update is (manually) it takes forever trying to connect to the server and in the end it never does (and thus I cannot connect for another twenty-four hours).So I said ok, i'll use Kies to update the phone, so I download Kies and try - however, the when I connect Kies says "The Device is not supported by Kies" and as such I cannot interact with my phone in this manner.

The OTA update for the Samsung Captivate (that was supposed to fix the GPS and a couple other bugs) isn't working on my [rooted] phone. I am able to download it, but it says that the process failed after my phone restarts. Luckily, it doesn't brick my phone like it has done to some other people's phones. From what I can gather, it doesn't fail because the phone is rooted but because some of the stock AT&T apps have been removed. Is this the problem? If so, is there any place I can download those stock apps (AT&T Navigator, Where, Mobile Banking, etc.) and reload them onto my phone?

So I did that and it said it found one, it downloaded it, and said the phone would reboot in 5 sec. After that, I get nothing. I had like 80% battery via the meter. Currently my icon is an exclamation point and when i clicked on it it said something along the lines of "dm not available check sim card or network". I rebooted now i click on software update and can choose resume update but when i click on that is says no firmware. Does that mean there is not an update currently available for my phone or not? Im a bit confused.
