Jul 16, 2010I got my college email account today, and I want to sync it to my phone. My college uses Gmail for the email accounts, but instead of it being @gmail.com, it is @[college name].edu ... so how would I go about adding this to my phone since it is gmail without a @gmail.com?

Jul 19, 2010I just got my Captivate today and everything seems to be working except emails. I've sent emails to myself and refreshed my inbox to test it out and haven't received any on my phone. I love this phone but my iPhone 3G was able to receive emails instantly. If somebody could help me I would really appreciate it.

Aug 16, 2010I've had my Captivate since the 19th of July and have been pretty happy with it but today my email accounts disappeared from my phone.I've been using the email app that came with the phone without issues but today my personal gmail and my work exchange accounts vanished. I noticed I hadn't received a new email notification in several hours so I went to check my email it prompted me to setup an email account. Anyone else have this happen? I only have 2 days to return my Captivate, it's been a good phone so far but I cant afford to lose my email accounts for no apparent reason again. I haven't installed any new apps or made any changes to the phone.Coming from the Blackberry world I took it for granted that email just worked flawlessly.

What would be the best for yahoo & hotmail? I'd like to have it push the emails instantly, but I'm okay with it being like a 5-10 minute delay. I noticed that when I set my yahoo address up on their given email program, it doesn't always show the HTML pictures in the message so I don't always get the email the way I'd like it to. Some come up, others don't, its weird.
So I was just wondering what the best email program would be to use to get what I want?
Samsung Captivate :: Titanium BU Setup?
Oct 6, 2010I'm getting the "your settings will prevent you ffrom being able to restore" message in Ti Backup. I've set the "mock locations" option. I've attempted the sideloading enable commands on the Ti Back website and the ones on the xda site ([How To] Enable Non-Market apps on Captivate (consolidated) - xda-developers) which was linked from this forum.
I am rooted. I am using adb shell from sdk tools. I usually get "not found" when trying all the commands. From what I can tell, the commands are using sqlite3, which I can't really find (mainly just don't know how). I think I also have two versions of busybox installed, one from installing the root.zip and one from the market.
I am not very savvy with the unix commands so i'm sure most (or all) of this is just me. My main goal here is to at least get to the point where i can reinstall my Ti backups if I really goof stuff up. I really want to upgrade to 2.2, but trying to work through step by step.
My Captivate is a pre-launch HW prototype but the software and kernel appears to be the same as everyone else.
Samsung Captivate :: Email Error Redundant Repetitions Of Email Address On To Line
Sep 6, 2010I'm a newbie to this forum, and hope someone can help. Have had the Captivate for almost a month now and am plagued by an annoying problem. I have set up email accounts connecting to a google-hosted email account via IMAP. I am finding that when replying to a received email, my reply goes out with redundant repetitions of the email address on the "to" line. Example: Email from soandso@gmail.com arrives. I click "reply" on the phone and the reply goes out to soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com etc etc *10 times*, instead of just once. It also copies me about 10 times! Is anybody else seeing this? I use this for work emails, so it looks very unprofessional like I am trying to spam my clients! I have another couple of days before my 30-day return period is up, so hopefully someone else know how to fix this. Is there some setting I am overlooking?

Sep 18, 2010So I just got the Samsung Fascinate last night and am having a problem setting up my email. I set up the gmail which they said I had to in order to access the marketplace - however when I go to the email app to set up my charter email account - I enter my email address and password - it says it's checking incoming network and then gives me an error saying it is unable to open connection to server. I've tried the automatic set up and manual - and I have no luck with either one. I have Verizon as my carrier - and looked on their site and Charter is a server that I should be able to set up email with on this phone.
Obviously I"m not that "saavy" with this stuff - and am not sure what to do to solve this problem. Wanted to check here first before calling them.

Now, I have been trying to set up my Yahoo email on the phone. If I go to "Email"; I get an option to only download emails from Inbox, Drafts and Sent Items.
I have created a lot of folders in the email account so I'd like to have those on the phone as well. How do I do that.
I would rather prefer not using the Yahoo Mail App as that is very slow.

Jul 25, 2010Does anyone else have the same problem? When I use the default email client from captivate, even when I set the checking period as every 10mins, I won't get new emails unless I open the app and manually refresh, well, except the one of gmail. This happens on my yahoo email, hotmail and my school email, which all worked fine on my old iphone. People have talked about yahoo mails won't be accessible through wifi from Android, which happens on mine too. But even when I was at 3G, the email client won't auto check it either. I have tried K9 email client, it doesn't work either. The only thing I find work is the MailDriod, but the function of this app is very limited, it won't even open attachments by default. Does anyone else here have the same problem, or maybe an idea to fix the default email client?Also, I find when I use the ear set make calls, when I try to click the button on the ear set, it won't hang up the call as my iphone would. Is this a bug or just something Andriod can't do? The button on the ear set seems quite useless with Captivate, it can only control to play or pause by single click when play music, won't do song change when doule click it.

Jan 17, 2010My Gmail account works great, and I have my aol and yahoo acounts set up no problem (well the yahoo was a little problem but got it to work so thats all that matters). I have 2 other email accounts that no matter what I do I can not get them to work. One is my works email which is handled by a company called network solutions. I can get the incoming server setup fine but I can not get the outgoing to work. The other is my school email which is some sort of msn email account variation (username@email.itt-tech.edu which i log into through msn.com). I cant get anything to work for this accuont.

I can receive and send emails without problems, but I can't find a feature to automatically bcc messages back to myself. I do this so that I can synchronize Sent messages with my PC.
