How do I setup my default homescreen on touchwiz? I have removed several screens but now my homescreen is all the way to the right. I feel like this is a simple answer but I checked 4 pages of threads and couldn't find anything.

Is there a way to set up touchwiz to work in landscape mode? I saw on the epic it does but can't figure out how to do it on the captivate.

(I got it from bais on MoDaCo). It is an apk and it has been tested and proven to work on FroYo and �clair (not sure about Cupcake/Donut). Install through adb or a file explorer. I tried it out, not too bad. Still prefer LauncherPro but I can show this off if an iPhone fanboy talks about how great iPhone UI is. Couple of notes: -To edit bottom dock, go into menu, press edit, this allows you to move icons around between dock and menu. -To edit order of homescreens or # of homescreens, go home, press menu and then edit. Couple of flaws: -Cannot set your own icons for bottom dock (you can change which apps are there but cannot use custom icons). Cannot set a default homescreen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI originally rooted so I could remove the verizon bloat / crap. Then I realized I couldn't get OTA updates (and I'm not the type that wants to keep manually updating the ROM on my phone). So I did the "back to stock" flash that unroots the phone and grabbed the OTA update. Since then I've been using Launcher Pro just to hide the programs I don't like. Now, somewhere in this process, the touchwiz homescreen got killed. If I kill Launcher Pro, all I'm left with is a black screen with nothing on it. No TwLauncher dock, nothing. When the phone boots up initially, I'll have that black screen, then launcher pro and my wallpaper will appear over it as well. Any ideas how this happened? And could this hurt the operation of my phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust want to know what exactly TouchWiz is, since it seems to be the only thing that keeps me from buying this phone over the iPhone 4 at the moment. Everyone keeps saying that it slows the phone down, and each person has something different to say about the possibility of removing it and the phone running faster. Would be nice to clarify on that, since it seems like some people just got lucky with their phones, they're just used to a slower speed, or that the other people just don't know how to remove all the bloatware properly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've spent the last week or so retooling my launch screens with different launchers (LauncherPro Plus, Open Home, ADW) and I liked features of them all, but no one launcher had all the features I wanted and no one launcher looked completely ready for prime time. So yesterday I went back to TW, just to see what I was missing and found that I like it better than I did before. It's not on par with Sense (I had an Aria before I went to the Cap), but it's a well-executed UI with enough polish to make it look slick enough. The third party stuff was always a little janky and I had to futz with the phone to get it right. I come from a graphics background and, while I don't really dig the cartoony icons and I wish I had the option to select my own, it's a nice looking interface.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI long press on my homescreen widget, the resize "handle" appears, I resize the widget, I can do absolutely nothing else. Stuck in resizing hell. Have to re-boot to stop the insane amount of resizing going on.
After re-boot the f'n widget is back to the same undesirable old size.
Can someone help out a android nob here? Is there a way to set up a separate (hopefully repeating) audible notification for voicemail? Though to me this would seem like a no brainer item, I can't seem to find it.
Also, while I'm at it. Is there a way to set up signatures in the default mail app?
I'm getting the "your settings will prevent you ffrom being able to restore" message in Ti Backup. I've set the "mock locations" option. I've attempted the sideloading enable commands on the Ti Back website and the ones on the xda site ([How To] Enable Non-Market apps on Captivate (consolidated) - xda-developers) which was linked from this forum.
I am rooted. I am using adb shell from sdk tools. I usually get "not found" when trying all the commands. From what I can tell, the commands are using sqlite3, which I can't really find (mainly just don't know how). I think I also have two versions of busybox installed, one from installing the root.zip and one from the market.
I am not very savvy with the unix commands so i'm sure most (or all) of this is just me. My main goal here is to at least get to the point where i can reinstall my Ti backups if I really goof stuff up. I really want to upgrade to 2.2, but trying to work through step by step.
My Captivate is a pre-launch HW prototype but the software and kernel appears to be the same as everyone else.

View 4 Replies View RelatedUp until today I've had my phone syncing with Google (Contacts and Calendar). Through a bit of searching and work, I've now finally got Kies installed and I want to have my Captivate sync only with Outlook. The problem I see at this point is that if I sync now, I'm basically going to have everything duplicated in my phone. I simply want to remove the Gmail account and all my existing contacts, calendar entries, etc.
When I go into Accounts & Sync, if I attempt to remove gmail, it states that some programs are using this and I'll have to do a factory restore to remove it. This would apparently remove all my downloaded software which I definitely don't want to do. The phone is rooted and enabled for side loading along with all of AT&T's bloatware blown out. Is there another option that I might be missing to remove this? I really want to use Kies and stop using gmail to sync.
How do I set the calendar alerts to vibrate? I don't want it to ring or make sounds, I want it to vibrate. Also the same for gmail. How do I make it vibrate when I receive an email?

One thing I can't figure out is how to disable the default email viewer? I am getting 2 notifications every time a email comes in. I get one in my gmail launcher and another in the notification bar. The one in the notification bar takes me to the email viewer that is blue and black and is the one I want to turn off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a huge issue with email. I successfully added my Google Apps email account using POP. The client does indeed download the emails, though very slowly, but the main issue I have is that as soon as I manually check for new emails or the Captivate automatically does it (I set it to 15 minutes intervals), all the emails in the inbox on the phone disappears. After much investigating, it turns out that all emails that was already downloaded prior to a reload, were sent to Trash in Gmail. So when I log in online, every message that was originally downloaded to the phone, was now found in Trash. The only workaround I have found in order to keep the emails on the phone, is to delete them instantly. That way they remain in the Deleted Messages until I manually remove them.
So my question is: does the default email client work like it should at all or should I replace it with something. And if so, with what? It's a shame that a new phone such like this have issues with such a basic task.
Before I knew better I looked at the default voicemail number and said "well that's not my number." and promptly changed it. Does anyone know what the default number should be? Is it the same for all phones or should I take it to the ATT store and have them fix it? Will a factory reset solve my problems?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm afraid to root my phone and I understand that's the only way to get rid of the default music app on my captivate. If I can't get rid of it, is there a way to make it a lame duck and set another player as my default player.
Here's why:
I recently installed Playerpro which has all the features I need in a music player but when I press the headset buttons (which I need for my daily walks) it automatically starts my default music player, which I never use. Granted this may be in an issue with the app as Mixzing and others don't have this issue but is there anyway to set defaults on my droid.
Is there a way to set the default calendar as the Google calender? Right now, every time I add something to the calender, the default option is "My Calendar" but I want to switch it to the Google one. Is that possible? I'm using a Captivate if it matters.

The only problem is that I have to force quit my default homescreen (in this case it's called "LG Homescreen")--task-killers won't work and I have to go into the application settings to force it. Fine. But every time I reboot my phone it runs along side of adw and I want only adw when the phone boots. I already set adw as my default homscreen, no change.

Currently, the stock application is launched, and since this application is short to worthless, I want the Gmail client to open instead of it so that I don't need to add a short cut to it and at the same time end up with a static button that I will never use.
