Samsung Captivate :: Security Lock Application / Protector Settings
Aug 8, 2010I am looking for an application that will allow me to lock out certain applications and features. For example, its common that someone wants to tinker with my phone because they have never seen it. I don't want the messing around in my messaging center, gmail, etc. But the general phone lock is not enough. I want to specify certain apps and functions that will require password or gesture. I found "ES Security manager - application protector" in the market. It worked okay for a day, now its buggy. When I go to a locked app and put in my password. Now it goes to the protector settings instead of the application. Also, it can easily be killed from a task manager app. I need a good solid app that will do this for me.

Jul 25, 2010Is anyone else having problems with setting MP3's as ringtones? I sure am! When I navigate to the MP3 that I want as my ringtone, I tap the menu button to find the "Set as" option, but that option seems to have been removed altogether! Am I missing something here, or have AT&T and/or Samsung decided that we're not allowed to set our personal MP3's as ringtones and therefore are forced to either do without, or buy them from wherever? Has anyone figured out a workaround and/or fix to this problem?

I am Using 02, and before on my old ericson, you could do setup a template with *0# at the begining of every message to do a Delivery Report (lets you know that the recipient got the text by texting you back automatically) so everytime you wrote a new msg you could use that template with one click... Is this possible to tag every outgoing SMS with *0# automatically or setup templates? Otherwise how using 02 can I get a delivery report (normal setting for delivery report dont work for 02)

Sep 2, 2010My work email works great on my Captivate for incoming, but because of some weird settings at work, I cannot use the outgoing server. As a workaround, I want to set up my incoming as my work address, and then make my outgoing account on that email as a totally separate gmail account. This does not seem to work, so I created a separate account for my outgoing and that worked, but the problem with that is, when I try to "reply" to my incoming mail it does not work because the outgoing is set up on a separate email account rather than on the same one. Is there a way I can make my outgoing a completely separate SMTP than my incoming on the same account?

Oct 16, 2010I did a search on this and found some posts on it but the wording was a bit different and there didn't seem to be any solutions.On my Captivate, I have all my contacts synced from my pc's google account. So when I click on Phone, Contacts, all my contacts have the google logo next to the phone number. When I click on Groups, it shows Family, Friends, Google, etc. It has zero contacts in all groups except for 30 contacts in my Google groups. (which is all the contacts I have in my phone.)On my friends Captivate, he doesn't have his contacts synced from Google. He goes into his Contacts, Groups and can click on Family or Friends and can add people from his contacts to the Family or Friends group. I can't do this cause all my contacts are synced from Google.Is there a work around for this? Hope I made sense to someone.

On my BB I could start typing any info associated with a contact ie. company, first name, last name, phone number and it would automatically start showing any contacts that matched as I typed. On my Captivate I can only search phone number and name. My problem is that I have so many business contacts that I often forget the people's names associated with the business' I work with. Is there a setting that I can change that would allow me to search any info I have in a contact, or is this just how the Captivate searches.

Nov 23, 2010I'm sorry if there have been numerous posts about this but i couldnt find one with my specific problem.I tried connecting my galaxy s to Kies for the first time ever. I just installed Kies but whenever i connect my phone Kies tells me "This Device Is Not Supported By Kies" I've restarted my Phone and Computer. I was connected to 9-10 satellites, each with the number 30 next to it, yet I wasn't locking in for some reason. May 23, 2014I have a brand new windows 7 computer, I have installed the latest android SDK, I want to connect to my Nexus 10 using adb.
(device has windows drivers from SDK; "Android Composite ADB Interface". adb version 1.0.31)
when I do adb devices, it does see my device but it says my device is unauthorised.
It has never displayed the security popup.
I am convinced that the security pop up would make this work, but i cannot get it to show, so that it does whatever magic it does.
I have tried plugging and unplugging the usb cable,
I have tried turning USB debugging on and off.
I have changed the USB connection from Camera, to Media, back to Camera.
I can see the adbkey file under $HOME/.android in windows
The android directory /data/misc/adb/ is empty
I have root.
How can I force the security popup to display? Or how can I frig this so I can get it working?
What does the secuirty popup do anyway? probably just copy the adbkey file from windows into the android /misc/adb/ directory right? Can I do it by hand?
Slightly unrelated question, is it true that everything works first time, everytime on IOS?
Samsung Captivate :: No Mac Connectivity / Mass Storage Device
Jul 18, 2010Can't seem to get my Captivate to mount on my Mac 10.6 machine. Doesn't make for a great first impression when trying to transfer over some music from iTunes via DoubleTwist. Anyone else able to get their Captivate to mount on their mac? I've had a little more success on my Win7 x64 rig, but I'm still having issues getting this thing to mount as a mass storage device or otherwise.

Jul 29, 2010I've seen different posts about this, but none for the captivate, and none in the past month, so.Last night I rooted my captivate using the stickied thread in this forum. Worked great! Simple, and not much to it. I have the Superuser Permissions app in my app list.This morning I installed the android sdk and the drivers from the samsung website, enabled usb debugging on my phone, connected the phone, and did the following in my cmd prompt:.C:android-sdk-windows yes, that is the correct location of the android sdk folder) but all i'm getting is 'error: device not found'. I tried uninstalling my drivers and doing it again, this time connected to a different USB port, and still the same thing. Anyone have any insights? I'm able to successfully connect my phone to my machine and view it like a storage device (drag folders around, etc)
