Android :: How To Use My Samsung Captivate As Device For Debugging?
Nov 20, 2010
I'm using eclipse 3.6 (It was the only download i could find couldn't find 3.5).When i run SDK Manager.exe I see that I have USB Driver Packer, Revision 3 installed.I Set my phone to enable USB Debugging and I plug in my phone to my computer's USB jack.At this point, I do not see the device in eclipse debug configuration. Should I? Am I missing something?

Alright, I've searched for a while and tried to find the reason why this is happening.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times. On the first connect after the install, it seems like the computer sees the phone but then it disappears. My phone connects just fine without USB Debugging enabled, but it simply won't work when it is enabled.

I installed Windows USB Android SDK driver for the Android Dev Phone 1 I enabled all the debugging modes and stuff on the phone. It even says.USB debugging connected. When I type adb devices , it shows me only my emulator, and not my phone. It doesn't seem to recognize my Android Phone as an adb device. Why is that?

I have gotten to to the point where I need to test my application on a real Android device. I have obtained an Motorola Droid phone and attached it to my computer (Windows).I have installed the USB driver, and I believe that my computer can see the phone. When I start up the DDMS it shows my device as 'Online'. I cannot, however, figure out how to get the debugger to use the device instead of the emulator. The Android documentation states that when I run my program from within Eclipse that I should be presented with a 'Device Chooser', but that does not happen. I read somewhere else that pressing F11 will bring up the Device Chooser, but it only runs the application on the emulator. I know there is probably something obvious that I am missing here, but I cannot figure out what it is.

I have an app that runs fine on my local emulator, but is crashing on my personal device. I would like some advice on the best way to debug this. Are there log files (stack traces) saved somewhere on a non-dev phone, can it be enabled?

I'd like to connect a HTC Desire to the PC only as debugging device. Every time I plug the cable in it searches for the HTC Sync software on the PC, and it takes a long time until finally a message appears on the phone like "no HTC Sync found, please install". After that, the phone is available to eclipse for debugging. But how can I avoid that everlasting searching process?

I have a Android phone connected with host computer with USB cable. ADB runs well and I can debug application on phone. The only problem is that the App requires special network setup which I can reach on host but not mobile. Is there a way to let the device send all network operations through ADB and Host network?

I just bought my captivate a few hours ago, and have been trying to figure out how I get my music on my device... I don't have an external microSD only the internal one, and I just can't figure out how to get anyone on it. Kies mode doesn't work, and mass storage doesn't see the internal. How can I put my music on? I'm sure it can't be that big of a problem...

Can't seem to get my Captivate to mount on my Mac 10.6 machine. Doesn't make for a great first impression when trying to transfer over some music from iTunes via DoubleTwist. Anyone else able to get their Captivate to mount on their mac? I've had a little more success on my Win7 x64 rig, but I'm still having issues getting this thing to mount as a mass storage device or otherwise.

I've seen different posts about this, but none for the captivate, and none in the past month, so.Last night I rooted my captivate using the stickied thread in this forum. Worked great! Simple, and not much to it. I have the Superuser Permissions app in my app list. This morning I installed the android sdk and the drivers from the samsung website, enabled usb debugging on my phone, connected the phone, and did the following in my cmd prompt:.C:android-sdk-windows yes, that is the correct location of the android sdk folder) but all i'm getting is 'error: device not found'. I tried uninstalling my drivers and doing it again, this time connected to a different USB port, and still the same thing. Anyone have any insights? I'm able to successfully connect my phone to my machine and view it like a storage device (drag folders around, etc)

I know the Dell Streak is noted to have the ability to use a Bluetooth keyboard with it. And a mouse, I think? Will you be able to use a bluetooth keyboard with the Captivate? mouse? It runs the 3.0 bluetooth, would that be an issue? Can 2.0 bluetooth devices work with 3.0?

I am thinking about getting a new captivate from wirefly.com.
But it seems that many people exchange their captivate from ATT because of GPS or Shutting off problems.
Do you think it is possible to exchange my device from ATT even though I bought it from wirefly.com?

Does anyone know if we can automatically link to a Bluetooth device once you enable Bluetooth? It's lame to turn Bluetooth "on" with the power widget but have to go to the bluetooth settings to actually link to a device.

I'm trying to tether my Samsung Fascinate using PDANet. The problem is that the "USB Debugging" mode must be on for PDANet to work and Windows XP and Windows 7 cannot load the proper USB driver to connect with the phone. If I turn off "USB Debugging" and the phone is set for "USB Storage" then I have no problem connecting to the phone. What must I do to get my computers to recognize my phone so I can use PDANet?

I've got a Galaxy S Vibrant. I've got the USB in debugging mode, I've got super-user rights. When I mount the Vibrant to my Desktop while it's booted in Ubuntu, it detects it off the bat and works fine. When I mount the Vibrant to my Dekstop while it's booted in Windows, it doesn't detect it.
Vibrant won't connect to a windows 7 x32 desktop via usb, but connects to Ubuntu just fine. The desktop has no network connection. I need to move some files, but I don't have a USB drive and it doesn't have a CD drive. It's rather barebones. So, I was hoping to use my phone.

I have PDANet app on my phone, and I have PDANet installed on the laptop also. My PDAnet on my laptop keeps telling me to make sure USB debugging is enabled on my vibrant, which it is. It keeps telling me that over and over, it won't connect. I think the problem is drivers, not USB debugging. The strange thing is, since I got my vibrant, I just plugged it into my 2 laptops, and it recognized fine, the SD cards on the phone were easy accessible.
Now I plug in vibrant into my computer, it finds the phone, shows the sd cards as f drive and g drive, but when I try to go to the SD card via USB connection, it is ghosted out, as if nothing is there. Something strange is going on. Maybe I need drivers, according to some sites, but it worked fine before without any drivers, it acted as universal plug and play. Got my laptop to mount and recognize the phone, but PDANet still doesn't seem to recognize the phone/drivers.
