I recently put avi videos on my captivate and they play properly except that there is no sound. the audio codec is Lame mp3. I have tried using Vplayer but it is too laggy. any other solutions besides converting the videos? I try to avoid conversions as I do not want to have quality..

Is it possible to watch videos on xfinity or espn3.com on the captivate? Im able to access the comcast and espn3 websites but when i click on the episode or video it doesnt load. do i need another media player?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my Samsung Captivate at my local AT&T store on November 20th. Everything has been pretty good with it except trying to watch videos. It doesn't matter what site I'm trying to watch videos from, youtube or any other, my Captivate doesn't seem to be able to download the video fast enough. It will play for 15 seconds or so until it reaches the end of what it has downloaded at the time, then freezes and will wait until it downloads the full video before starting up again. It's done this even when I had a 3G signal. It can take several minutes for it to download a 2 minute video. I've had it right beside my friend's iPhone, downloading at the same time, same video and he has no problem. A Samsung tech told me to try and watch the video in Wi-fi. That's great and all, but I shouldn't have to. Everything else has been good on the fun but trying to watch videos (which I like doing). Are their any settings I could change that may fix this problem? I deleted all my apps and it still does the same.

View 12 Replies View RelatedWell, I am sure that at some point in time you all have sent a video but I am trying to figure out why I can't send videos. Last night, I was performing at a night club and I wanted to send the videos to friends and what not so they can hear our singing. However, the video clips are anywhere from 8-20 seconds long and they are not in HD quality but 3gp. Yet it tells me the message can't be attached because it's too large.
Today I had a show, and my brother recorded me and I wanted to send the video out and it still says the same thing. Is there anything I can do? I love At & T but I am wondering does this have anything to do with their Data cap because when I had my Droid X and Incredible on Verizon. I was able to send videos up to 30 seconds long to phones via MMS but I can't send videos on my Captivate. I couldn't send videos either on the Xperia X10, I had, the aria I had, and now the backflip. (I am just using it because I love motoblur for the social networking, not the phone).
Reason why I ask is because I have a 25 second video that I recorded with my phone and when I try to send it to my buddy through text message it says that the file is too big? So I said give me your email address and I'll send there and lo and behold the file is too big even for email. smh? It's only 25 seconds!

When my jawbone is connected, it works fine for phone calls, but the sound for turn by turn comes out of the phone speaker...on the music player it also doesn't "see" my jawbone when asking to use BT..but it will see my Moto S9 headset...seems a little strange..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am so frustrated with Double Twist. I downloaded the samsung drivers and double twist immediately fount my captivate. I downloaded some of my itunes music. While I was trying to download some of my video, Double Twist went blank and could no longer find my captivate. I have redownloaded the drivers, but the captivate is not being found.
Any suggestions?
Also, any idea how I can get some of my songs OFF of the Captivate?
On my Captivate, sometimes when I boot up (turn on phone) it does not make any sound. I prefer it that way, but must have turned it "off" inadvertently. Not sure what I did - is it an app I downloaded maybe, or perhaps a certain keystroke?

I'm not sure if it's a bug or missing feature but I can't seem to play movies that are encoded in 5.1 sound. The Captivate will play high bitrate video fine and that is awesome, but it would be silly to expect someone to encode a movie in a high bitrate and only use a stereo track.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know some of you have been wanting to get rid of that annoying startup sound on your phone. Here's what you'll need....(some instructions copied from Maerlim to save time)
You'll need the Android SDK (guide to download and install is here)
You'll need the USB drivers (Stickied post in this forum)
You'll need root access (look for the Captivate Root thread by chaoscentral)
You'll need Busybox (available on the market after you root the phone)
Connect USB to phone with USB Debugging ON
Open a Windows Command prompt in the SDK install directory
cd tools
adb shell
su
cd etc
*******************
I suggest backing up the file before deleting
cp PowerOn.wav /sdcard/
*******************
rm PowerOn.wav
exit
exit
THAT'S IT! I renamed the Windows 7 logon .wav file to PowerOn.wav and copied it to the /etc directory on the phone played it on startup, so you should be able to put whatever you like in there!
If you want to copy a file there.....
Open a Windows Command prompt in the SDK install directory
cd tools
adb push "the location and name of the file on your pc" /sdcard (example adb push %userprofile%DesktopPowerOn.wav /sdcard)
adb shell
su
cp /sdcard/PowerOn.wav /etc
exit

My phone will not make any sound at all. I have all the volumes turned up and nothing. Phones calls, movies, songs, text messages, no noise. I have even factory reset the phone much to my dismay. Anything I can do to fix this? I have had the phone 2 months and loved it, now I am thinking maybe I should have just went Iphone4.
