Anyone else noticed their phone making peculiar playlists for their MP3's? I made 3 playlists using doubleTwist and put them on my phone and when I rebooted my phone yesterday my phone had created several other playlists on it's own each with no more than 3 or 4 songs in it. Anyone else noticed anything similar to this at any point?

I am having an issue with my M3U playlists.
I use the default Samsung media player, Isyncr and Itunes. Although I have also used the Doubletwist Player (not the desktop software) and had the same issue, I just prefer the Samsung default player mainly because of the lock screen app.
Here is the issue.
First, I sync my playlists with Itunes using Isyncr, all of the songs come over great, art and tags, everything is perfect. It also creates M3U playlists on my phone. I double checked that everything is there.
Then when I unmount, media scanner scans my SD card (which takes way longer than it should) and it deletes all of my playlists. Now a little research on XDA forums tells me that this is because anytime the media scanner scans a playlist and can't find all of the songs from that playlist, it assumes it is an old playlist and deletes it. The problem is that when I look through the M3U files, every song referenced in the list is on the card...they are all there, yet it keeps deleting them.
Does anyone know of a solution to make it stop deleting my playlists?
common question this one, but i have had a search but no luck i;m afraid. Using Media Monkey to sync to my SGS, but the stock player doesn;t seem to recognise playlists, or the difference between podcasts and otehr tracks. View 3 Replies View RelatedI use Windows Media Player to manage all my mp3s and playlists. I want my Samsung Galaxy S to be synchronized with my PC. I can connect my Galaxy S using "Media Player" mode and use the built-in sync with WMP, but there are issues:
1) Some mp3s get "corrupted" - how do I force WMP to "re-sync" them without losing my playlist association (if I manually add it as a file to sync, it is no longer associated with the playlist)
2) If I delete an mp3 from the device, WMP doesn't realize and won't re-sync the file again... is there a way to re-sync?
3) Sometimes WMP will re-sync playlists and each song shows up 3-4+ times when I load up a playlist on my device. I then have to wipe the Music and Playlist folder and re-sync from scratch any way around this?
4) Where are android playlists stored? The Playlists folder on the sd card can be wiped, but the playlists still show up in the music player?
5) If I make a change to a playlist on my PC, WMP will freeze and start skipping random files the playlists get corrupt and I see problem #3 occur. Essentially, if I change a playlist, I have to wipe the Music and Playlist folder and re-sync from scratch.
I have a list of items that are displayed using a ListView from a SQLCursor. The SQL table includes(as well as other things) a _id field and an order field. I use the order field to sort the list before it gets to the ListView. What I need is a widget like the MediaPlayer has in its playlist view. It allows you to click the icon and drag the item in the playlist around and put it into a new order. With that ability I can then retrieve the new order and update the SQL table with the new order. However, I am not having any luck finding any clues to help me add that functionality into my program. The question is whether I can use existing functions to help me, or do I need to manually program motion events and such until I get nearly the same functionality.

I tried the stock players & they didn't work. will Doubletwist play them? I really don't want to convert them over again.Also, coming from the iPhone, I loved the way it synced my podcasts - I see that people rally like Isyncr. Is that the best app to use? At this point, until I re-think my home media integration solution, I want to stay with iTunes.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have searched high and low with no answer to this. I like the stock music player on the Galaxy S and want to use it but my playlists do not show up in the playlist tab. I do not want to re-create my playlists on the phone. I have used mixzing which is great and shows my playlists imported using salling media sync or ones added to the /playlist directory but I am happy with the stock player, but I can not find where or how it reads playlists or if it is some special format? I guess there is a way around it by viewing the recently added playlist and just create a playlist from there, but any help with this would be great.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am on my 2nd captivate and the first had its own series of issues but in a week i never had it shut it self down(though it did randomly restart). This new one after a couple days shut it self off twice today.i noticed it was not untill i turned on the automatic wifi off in Juicedefender. i turned off the Wifi auto shut off and did not have the issue return(I have not tried turing it back on to reproduce the issue). Now i have no proof this is connected. and could simply be luck. what i am asking is for those with this issue are you using juicedefender(ultimate)? and is your Auto wifi on or off?
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy Captivate's browser will crash / shut down, upon attempting to launch a web page.
This occurs with random pages, it happens about once out 20 times I go to load any web page.
It does not happen on the all pages, just certain pages. (I've failed to note which pages so far) When it does happen, if I try to open that same web page again again, it crashes. If I immediately try another web page it's fine.
My Captivate is original, w/ver 2.1 Eclair, not rooted (yet) and otherwise operates very well. So far it's the only bug I've had.
I'm having trouble transferring songs AND playlists from iTunes to my Samsung Captivate. I've tried a lot of things and every one of them just transfers over the songs from the playlist and not the actual playlist. I really like the Music Player Samsung has and I want to use that one, but nothing seems to transfer playlists to it. I've tried doubletwist (only transfers the music, not the playlists), iTunes agent, (same) dazzboard (doesn't work at all), and songbird (so buggy and slow, impossible to use... gave up) There has to be some way to get that player to work with iTunes or to import everything from iTunes and use it with the Samsung Music Player.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, back in the day, when the first iPod Video came out, I thought it was about high time for me to join the whole "iRevolution" bandwagon. I mean, how cool would it be that I could FINALLY have a slick little device that I could put in my pocket and take with me everywhere which played ALL of my media? When it all first came out, such an idea was incredible, and I wanted to be a part of that. This was to be my first (and last) Apple device, and as such, I had never futzed around with iTunes ever before, because my media library was already well developed and existed even before the iPod's inception.
I have always been an avid Winamp user. It is, and always has been, a powerful, open-ended, lightweight and, for me, a familiar and simple-to-use program. As such, my entire media library consists of many many .m3u playlists and file formats ranging from everything from your typical mp3's, to wma's, too .ogg's and .flac's, all of which the mighty Android has no problems playing back whatsoever (which, in the case of the .flac and .ogg's was quite a pleasant surprise for me!). So, when I plugged in my iPod for the first time, I thought it would be just as easy as taking my root media folder and simply dragging and dropping the whole thing onto the device. Why shouldn't it be that simple? After all, this is Apple, the monarch of simplicity! So, I anxiously wait several hours while all my stuff copies over to the iPod, and finally when it finishes, I check it out, only to discover that NONE of my media is accessible on my iPod. Angry, and frustrated, I do some research which led me to discover that there was in fact nothing wrong with my iPod at all. The problem was that I absolutely needed to use iTunes to put all my media onto the device, AND I had to convert EVERYTHING over to the iTunes format. Really? Seriously!? When I discovered that iTunes estimated it would have taken at LEAST two weeks to perform a complete conversion of everything, assuming it went flawlessly, and without any interruptions or any other unforeseen issues, I decided F### THAT $###!!! I want my $300 back! And from that day forward, as if to avoid the plague, I have steered clear of owning ANYTHING with a lower case "i" in the front of it. Anyway, enough of a rant...
Long story short:
Is there some way to get .m3u playlists to work on the Captivate? I used to have a Nokia E71, and on that phone .m3u playlist importation/creation/recognition was breeze; just copy your files to your sdcard, load them up in Winamp, save a playlist file on the sdcard. 1, 2, 3, done! Now however, I find myself futzing around with tag editors, which although they work (sorta kinda), they're awkward and complicated compared to just creating a play list in Winamp, and clicking "Save Playlist."
There has to be some easier way....I'm using Winamp.
AT&T decided that it won't allow its users to have any unlimited data plans for smartphones after like june of this year. My unlimited plan is grandfathered in, and I would like to keep it that way. but if i go to the at&t store and buy a captivate like I want, they are going to make me change my contract from the unlimited I have now to either 200mb or 2gb per month when they activate the phone. Would anyone know a way to buy a captivate and get it working with my current service without getting screwed out of my unlimited data by at&t? Is it really as simple as buying one from another source and transferring my sim card to the captivate?

I was able to change it for the voicemail notification (under notification sounds) but it doesn't seem to have any affect on the text one.. it only changed the voicemail one.

i have even changed all the notification tones, but the default tone keeps randomly playing.i think it is because when the tone comes a little R comes next to the signal bar? what dose this mean?
I upgraded my Captivate to 2.2 two weeks ago and ever since the phone will shut itself off without making a sound (screen just goes black like the battery was pulled out) randomly. I do notice it never does it if the charger is plugged in.
I also am having a problem with txting. Sometimes when I am replying to a txt to one person, it will sent the message to a random person in my contacts instead of the person I intended to send the txt to.
Lastly, when I take a pic with the camera or download a pic from a txt, it takes awhile for it to show up in my gallery...
None of these things were happening when it was still running 2.1.
Ok, I'm quite confused. I've had my Samsung Captivate for about 4 days now, and today when i plugged it in mid-day to charge (om nom nom battery life) it started emitting random, extremely obnoxious high-pitched beeps about 2 times per minute. It does it whether or not it's on A/C power, it even does it when the phone's powered off but the battery's in there, I just don't understand why or how to stop it.
Phone is awesome otherwise! Anyone having this issue/ know where it's coming from?
Basically I live in the middle of no where, and I don't have cell coverage at home. A friend of mine came over to the house with his BlackBerry and was able to connect to our WiFi, then make and receive calls. Is there an app that can do this? Or a setting on my Captivate?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo its been about a month and a half that I've had my captivate. I've had a few problems with the phone and have searched them, I have found most have the same problems but no one gives any answers to what you can do to fix it.
Problems:
.phone restarts at random times until the battery is taken out and put back in
.text messages delete at random times
.phone does not sync with Facebook
.it does not retrieve e-mails
.gets a bit laggy at times for a 1gHz processor
.seems like the side buttons seems a smashed in and do not "click" properly
Does anyone have any answers to these problems?
Also I wanted to do a factory restore so how can I save my files/ contacts/ etc before I do this to see if it fixes any of the problems.
How to backup my phone would be great..
Is it normal that my Captivate makes this weird buzzing sound while the phone is making a call? Also, while I'm talking to someone on it, you can still hear that buzzing sound as they talk. IDK if it's a speaker issue or an AT&T issue or what.
