Samsung Captivate :: Making Phone Calls Over WiFi Only
Jul 27, 2010Basically I live in the middle of no where, and I don't have cell coverage at home. A friend of mine came over to the house with his BlackBerry and was able to connect to our WiFi, then make and receive calls. Is there an app that can do this? Or a setting on my Captivate?

Nov 21, 2010Is it normal that my Captivate makes this weird buzzing sound while the phone is making a call? Also, while I'm talking to someone on it, you can still hear that buzzing sound as they talk. IDK if it's a speaker issue or an AT&T issue or what.

Jul 26, 2010AT&T decided that it won't allow its users to have any unlimited data plans for smartphones after like june of this year. My unlimited plan is grandfathered in, and I would like to keep it that way. but if i go to the at&t store and buy a captivate like I want, they are going to make me change my contract from the unlimited I have now to either 200mb or 2gb per month when they activate the phone. Would anyone know a way to buy a captivate and get it working with my current service without getting screwed out of my unlimited data by at&t? Is it really as simple as buying one from another source and transferring my sim card to the captivate?

Dec 1, 2010I've had the Captivate for about 2 months now and during that time, I've never once got the contacts to sync up with my Facebook contacts. I've been to AT&T and they've told me that the phone is so new that they don't even know how to fix it.
What it's doing is taking at least two minutes to try and "sync" and them I'm getting a notification telling me that the sync is down at this current time and should be up shortly. I'm thinking two months is a little longer than shortly.

Sep 12, 2010So its been about a month and a half that I've had my captivate. I've had a few problems with the phone and have searched them, I have found most have the same problems but no one gives any answers to what you can do to fix it.
Problems:
.phone restarts at random times until the battery is taken out and put back in
.text messages delete at random times
.phone does not sync with Facebook
.it does not retrieve e-mails
.gets a bit laggy at times for a 1gHz processor
.seems like the side buttons seems a smashed in and do not "click" properly
Does anyone have any answers to these problems?
Also I wanted to do a factory restore so how can I save my files/ contacts/ etc before I do this to see if it fixes any of the problems.
How to backup my phone would be great..
Samsung Captivate :: Making The Notifications Louder - Different
Nov 25, 2010I hope this hasn't been asked a thousand times.. BUT, I'm so frustrated with how low the notification is for text messages. I was able to change it for the voicemail notification (under notification sounds) but it doesn't seem to have any affect on the text one.. it only changed the voicemail one.

I made 3 playlists using doubleTwist and put them on my phone and when I rebooted my phone yesterday my phone had created several other playlists on it's own each with no more than 3 or 4 songs in it. With the iphone when I hung up a call it instantly goes back to whatever screen I was on and I can instantly lock the screen. With the captivate it flashes call ended...wait...then call time...wait...then finally out of the call and I can lock the screen.

Jul 24, 2010I have noticed that if I ever turn my captivate off and then reboot it; it will take anywhere from 3-5 minutes for the Captivate to fully boot and become usable. Prior to then it is unbelievably laggy and if I even try to dial out it freezes.
I moved my 4gb of music from the internal SD card to the external SD card thinking that may make a difference but that did not solve the problem.

Nov 30, 2010I'm a new VZ Samsung Fascinate user. I got the phone 4 days ago.
I have noticed that my bars are never full. I even compared it with my friend's Nexus One w/ her T-Mobile service and she had 3 bars when I only had 1.
I constantly get zero or 1 and occasionally 2 if lucky. I thought I was in a bad service area but I'm sitting at home where I had full bars before getting this one - same Verizon.
What could be the cause? Do I need to take it to VZ store (I got the phone from BestBuy) and have them take a look?
My apps - Facebook/Twitter/Google Finance/Etc are all slow and often fail because of low connectivity. It's really annoying and I'm not getting full 3G impact on my phone for $30 that I'm paying!

Jun 9, 2014I've rooted my Sprint Galaxy S5 and it made the phone work slow. The buttons took a good 3-4 seconds before responding, and sometimes would not respond at all. "HealthService" would always crash, and other slowdowns like when I drag down the notification bar. I installed Xposed and BusyBox. However, the phone was working slow before those were installed. So I unrooted it and flashed the stock ROM, and everything worked fine. Time passed by... I decided to root it again. So I did, same method, same files, and it was working normal. No slowdowns, buttons worked perfectly and were responsive. "HealthService" still force stops but I presume that is an easy fix. Then I installed BusyBox and Xposed again. Once both were installed and after 5-7 minutes, the phone started to work slow as before.

I have set the refresh interval at 30 minutes. and notifications checked (active). i have chosen messages, Pokes, Friend Requests and event invites all checked green under notification settings. For some reason, whenever i receive a friend request, i dont get notified under my notification bar. I always see that when i open the application.
