Went to sleep with approximately 25 text threads. When I woke up and looked at my phone there were no message to be found. Everything was erased. Very strange. For the record I have the "delete old messages" unchecked.

I am on my 2nd captivate and the first had its own series of issues but in a week i never had it shut it self down(though it did randomly restart). This new one after a couple days shut it self off twice today.i noticed it was not untill i turned on the automatic wifi off in Juicedefender. i turned off the Wifi auto shut off and did not have the issue return(I have not tried turing it back on to reproduce the issue). Now i have no proof this is connected. and could simply be luck. what i am asking is for those with this issue are you using juicedefender(ultimate)? and is your Auto wifi on or off?
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy Captivate's browser will crash / shut down, upon attempting to launch a web page.
This occurs with random pages, it happens about once out 20 times I go to load any web page.
It does not happen on the all pages, just certain pages. (I've failed to note which pages so far) When it does happen, if I try to open that same web page again again, it crashes. If I immediately try another web page it's fine.
My Captivate is original, w/ver 2.1 Eclair, not rooted (yet) and otherwise operates very well. So far it's the only bug I've had.
I've had my Incredible since 4/28, and everything has been working smoothly up until about last Thursday night when it just restarted out of the blue while I was listening to music. Then right after it booted up, it restarted again, then again about seven more times. I got fed up and took out the SD card and it seemed to stop after that, so I haven't put the SD card back in since then.
Just now, Wednesday, about a week later, I was browsing around on the internet and all of a sudden, it restarted, and then again, and again, and again. I've read that it is because of poor signal strength or something like that so I had just enough time to put it in airplane mode before it restarted again.
Side note, that theory about it being caused by poor signal seems to make sense because the first time it happened to me I was out of town in a city that gets very bad coverage with Verizon, and now today when it started happening again was at my house where for some reason I get very bad service with the incredible, my old phone worked perfectly fine in my house but the incredible gets terrible service, and so does my brother's Droid. In fact, about two weeks ago I got my first dropped call on Verizon in about three years, and it was in my house.
So anyways, I decided to put it in airplane mode, and just after I put it in airplane mode it restarted again. Then when it booted back up my Helix Launcher 2 home screen went back to the standard Helix Launcher 2 icons, I go into my messages and everything is gone, my contacts are all gone, everything is gone. I go to the app menu and all my apps are still there, but when I start up an app, all the custom settings are default now. I went into the settings and my accounts are all still there. I click on internet and I get a terms of service agreement, it's as if I am booting it up for the first time, but for some reason my apps and accounts are all still there.
I turn airplane mode off thinking it might have something to do with it not being connected to my google account, and I restart it again and everything is still gone. I don't know what to do, has this happened to anyone before? I feel like there should be a way for me to get this stuff back since my apps are still there and my accounts are still synced, but random things are missing like my contacts and messages etc. This is really starting to get annoying, I have insurance and everything, but I really don't want to exchange it for another one because I've read that other people who have had there phones replaced have still had the same rebooting problem, even after going through multiple replacements.
When ever my phone freezes and the battery come out when I start it back up. The phone ends up sending 2 to 3 random previous messages to the last person I texted. This has happened several times has this happened to anyone else and is there a fix?

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor 4 of my albums all the songs and the albums names come up as random amounts of ?s. i dont know how to fix it, i tried re-downloading them, and taking out some characters from the names but nothing will fix it. so is there any way to fix this or what is the cause. and is there any way to change name of songs and albums on the phone by just using the phone.

I made 3 playlists using doubleTwist and put them on my phone and when I rebooted my phone yesterday my phone had created several other playlists on it's own each with no more than 3 or 4 songs in it. View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my Captivate to 2.2 two weeks ago and ever since the phone will shut itself off without making a sound (screen just goes black like the battery was pulled out) randomly. I do notice it never does it if the charger is plugged in.
I also am having a problem with txting. Sometimes when I am replying to a txt to one person, it will sent the message to a random person in my contacts instead of the person I intended to send the txt to.
Lastly, when I take a pic with the camera or download a pic from a txt, it takes awhile for it to show up in my gallery...
None of these things were happening when it was still running 2.1.
Ok, I'm quite confused. I've had my Samsung Captivate for about 4 days now, and today when i plugged it in mid-day to charge (om nom nom battery life) it started emitting random, extremely obnoxious high-pitched beeps about 2 times per minute. It does it whether or not it's on A/C power, it even does it when the phone's powered off but the battery's in there, I just don't understand why or how to stop it.
Phone is awesome otherwise! Anyone having this issue/ know where it's coming from?
So its been about a month and a half that I've had my captivate. I've had a few problems with the phone and have searched them, I have found most have the same problems but no one gives any answers to what you can do to fix it.
Problems:
.phone restarts at random times until the battery is taken out and put back in
.text messages delete at random times
.phone does not sync with Facebook
.it does not retrieve e-mails
.gets a bit laggy at times for a 1gHz processor
.seems like the side buttons seems a smashed in and do not "click" properly
Does anyone have any answers to these problems?
Also I wanted to do a factory restore so how can I save my files/ contacts/ etc before I do this to see if it fixes any of the problems.
How to backup my phone would be great..
Has anyone else notices that when using the Android keyboard the predictive text will randomly capitalize words? Its kind of bugging me and I've rooted my phone, so is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?

This is the 2nd phone I've had because the other one was having "seizure like activity" and this is the new one I got yesterday and it STILL WILL NOT send picture messages. View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I just got off a half hour conversation with AT&T and We cant figure out for the life of the phone, why MMS messages cannot be sent. Although, when they did send me a small AT&T logo I did receive it. And When I sent that to myself, it did send and I received it again. I then took out my SIM and put it in my BlackBerry 9700 and MMS sent find and received fine. Any size picture. I then took a picture with the camera on the Captive in Fine, Normal and Super Fine. And each picture I tried to send to myself. Each said Compressing picture and when I go to send it, it stays on sending. That guy got so fed up he told me to Google it lol. So I did, and I see some others are having the same issue.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an issue on my new Captivate where the text messages don't appear in order. It seems it only sorts them by a minute time stamp versus seconds. It's not an issue if they are more than a minute apart, but if I get a text say at 4:30:01 and send a reply at 4:30:15 and get a reply back at 4:30:45, it will put my outgoing text on top followed by the 2 text I received below that. Where it should be received text, reply text, and receive text. Not sure if that made sense or not, but if you were to number them 1,2,3 in order of actual time, it's listing them in 2,1,3 order. It's not a huge deal but it's annoying to me. My iPhone did not do this. Is there a fix for this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIve noticed that when I send a text and the phone is out of signal, it just says, "FAILED" and calls it a day. I miss my blackberry in this respect, it would wait until it DID have signal and then would automatically resend. Is there any way to set this phone up so it automatically resends when I get signal back? I do get it sometimes where it says that its saving the texts until signal is rereached, however, lets say I get one bar back, well the phone "sees" that Im getting signal, tries to send, and then fails, and then calls it a day....

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been having an issue with area codes and text messaging. The contact's number is stored properly xxx-xxx-xxxx in the contacts. But when he sends a text, it only shows up as xxx-xxxx, so when I reply, of course, it won't send because Nebraska is now on mandatory 10 digit dialing. So then I have to compose a new message instead of just replying in the current thread.
I had this issue at first, but only with the numbers entered in as (xxx) xxx-xxxx. So I made sure to change every number to xxx-xxx-xxxx and it seemed to fix it for a while at least.
