Does anyone else have this problem where you can sync your Facebook account to the Captivate, but when syncing with Facebook contacts it doesn't work? I've tried everything and I have had signal the entire time.

I have a Samsung Captivate, but I think this issue is only dealing with the Android Operating System and Gmail. I have a Gmail Account, Facebook Account, and a University Email Account that I pull my contacts from. All three of them are synced with my phone. The University Email uses Gmail and Google apps. I am trying to figure out a way to sync all my contacts in one place, preferably my normal Gmail account. I understand that you can't auto-sync Facebook contacts to Gmail, but I would like to sync the contacts that I've added to the phone to my Gmail Account.

I have roughly 1000 Facebook "friends" but only 300 are really friends and family and the rest are mainly gaming friends for games like Mafia Wars, etc. and I don't want to sync those. I want the Facebook contacts who I personally know to show up when I use the contacts icon on the home screen. I would like to sync them but I'm afraid it will import the list and I would have to manually delete them.

I have gone into the settings and to account and sync, It shows the correct account in the "manage accounts" section. When I click on the manage accounts it shows that it is syncing contacts, gmail, and calendar.why it is not syncing. It is not syncing my calendar either.

I don't like that, when the names are different, it defaults to listing the contact under Facebook name. That means that it is no longer possible to search by Google contact name from within the phone application.
Anyone know if there is some way to override this?
Instead of manually getting all these pics for people...can I just sync individual contacts to their facebook?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI had to get a new EVO because my charging port failed on my first one. When I got the new EVO, I entered my gmail account & all my contacts came back down to the phone. I have re-installed all my programs and Facebook is working. I CAN NOT get my facebook to sync up with my contacts. I go into people, select the link icon, click Link to Facebook and it does nothing. I also went into Menu-Settings-Accounts & Sync and clicked Sync All (my facebook and gmail address are in there)--it runs the sync and I still get nothing. I pulled the battery, I updated my PRL & profile but it won't work. I even uninstalled Facebook, reinstalled it and it still won't work. Does anyone here have any ideas on how I get my FB contacts to sync up with my contacts?
View 5 Replies View Related in my account settings I have FB synced to include in my contacts. A few weeks ago though I looked in my contacts and just my original added contacts showed up, no FB contacts. I can't even sync my existing contacts to their FB account.
I think I read somewhere that there is some sort of dispute maybe with Google and FB but I could be completely wrong!
Does the phone lag while trying to make a call? Does the standard alarm work (I used Alarmed & my regular alarm when I'm really tired and I stagger the alarms so that at least 1 will wake me up with stock alarm, i can't turn it off without shutting off the phone). Is Facebook contacts synced with contacts again, or is like the 1.5 Hero. Does it sync ALL your google contacts (2.1 Hero) or does it allow you to choose which group to sync (1.5 Hero). Those are my issues with the Hero since the upgrade, if these problems are not on the EVO, then to the EVO I go.

I have a problem with selected contacts in People not syncing with facebook. The profile picture does not appear. Under Updates and events it either says "No updates or events" or "Updating". For the person's Albums tab it also says "No albums" under Facebook.
It is always the same contacts - I think just 4 out of about 30. It's been the same for a few days now. Obviously these are people I know have profile pictures and photo albums!
I have tried:
Turning the phone off and on.
Disconnecting and reconnecting to facebook in the settings.
De-linking and then re-linking the contact to their facebook profile.
Deleting and then re-adding the contact and then linking the new contact entry with the facebook profile.
I've read the constant threads where people say, just find the friend on facebook, hold press their icon and it will do whatever. doesnt work at all, the only thing happens is if i quick press i get the chooser to email them, or view their facebook profile. what im trying to do is manually sync a contact on my phone with a facebook contact. on my friends droid eris he can open up a phone contact, hit edit and actually has a field for him to type my facebook name in and it will sync. there anyway to do this? im tired of only having like 10 peoples profiles actually syncing with my phone contacts and another 100 not synced..
View 13 Replies View RelatedI can't stand the fact that the Facebook app automatically adds my Facebook friends to my contact list, but they don't show up when I open the People icon, only when I'm choosing the contacts to send or forward a text to.I want to be able to sync the contacts I have with their Facebook profile, but I don't want Facebook automatically adding contacts to my phone.And I can't just diasble auto-sync because there are programs that apparently need it running. The only other option I can think of is to completely remove Facebook from my phone and that's bullsh*t.I know it sounds confusing, but does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this? After Syncing, there DP is up, aswell as email address etc. It also changed the number to

I've found a solution. Go to a contact with the 44xxxxxxxxxx number. Ensure the contact is still linked to facebook
Menu > Edit
This brings up the Edit screen
Scroll down, Then add.
On the Drop down, select Phone > Work
Now, providing you only had one number for that person, you should have two fields. One called Mobile with their number this format 07xxxxxxxxx. (If its in the +44xxxxxxxxx format, then change it to the 07xxxxxxxxx format)
Press on the top field (the original one), then copy all.
Select the field called work, then press on the field, hold, and paste.
Now press Menu > Save.
Now press and HOLD the field called Call work, and set this as your primary number.
Once primary number is on the field called call work, you can now go to Menu > Edit.
Now delete the Field labeled Mobile
Go to the field called work, then change the label to Mobile.
Menu > Save.
This will now stay as your contacts primary number.
E.g.
Georgia Bowman
Call mobile.
07xxxxxxxxx
Send message.
07xxxxxxxxx
Instead of having 44xxxxxxxxx
Is there anyway to sync my facebook contacts to my gmail contacts to display email and pictures and all that good stuff. Can it be done through my phone or do I have to do it manually> Has anyone done this?

I removed some bloatware using TB and removed the apk responsible for updating my facebook contacts profile pics. I notice this yesterday as my wife had changed her profile pic and status they have not updated in my contacts. This has been going on since the night I 2.2 it and rooted and removed the bloatware. Does any body know the apk (system app) that needs to be re-installed. I have downloaded the system apps.rar file and have all of them, I just don't know which one it is.
So i just got the fascinate about 6 hours ago. I tried syncing with facebook, adding my account, i can log in yet it does not sync saying its down and will be back up shortly? Say what, anyone else having this problem?

I'm not running any lagfixes (at least nothing enabled via rom-manager for now) and I have a jawbone headset. I had problems with my PC (Vista) recognizing the phone but now it seems to be working but I don't know if I should just drag and drop my music files to the droid or if I need to use a program to sync it. I have media money but it doesn't seem to be syncing up with my phone. I also would like to know if there is an app that would work better then the AT&T music player which I have read sucks.

yes i do get my new emails..but after i try to clear it all out it just pops back up again and again...i even went online and cleared everything out...still does it...
I want to keep itunes for now since I have my podcasts subscribed as I like them. I keep seeing that I should use isyncr if I want to continue to use itunes but do I need an SD card before I starting syncing my podcasts/music to my captivate? Or can't I just use the on board memory to store the podcasts/music?
