What's up with Facebook and Sense? | Android Central
Apparently there's an issue with the way facebook sync's right now? I've been having the issue on the Captivate, but I guess it's not just us.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone notice that facebook notifications, just flat out doesnt work on this phone. i've tested an Aria, Incredible, and Evo, and it works on all of those. i've got notifications turned on and everything, and facebook is excluded from ATK but i never get any updates.

It will be back shortly." I was wondering if anyone else had this problem but was finally able to get a sync to occur by doing some tricky steps or something?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've had the Captivate for about 2 months now and during that time, I've never once got the contacts to sync up with my Facebook contacts. I've been to AT&T and they've told me that the phone is so new that they don't even know how to fix it.
What it's doing is taking at least two minutes to try and "sync" and them I'm getting a notification telling me that the sync is down at this current time and should be up shortly. I'm thinking two months is a little longer than shortly.
I cannot seem to get my facebook contacts to sync. When i setup the account it sucessfully syncs the calendar but has an error while trying to sync contacts. It says "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." It has been saying this for 3 days. I have reinstalled Facebook, Reset the phone, everything.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo its been about a month and a half that I've had my captivate. I've had a few problems with the phone and have searched them, I have found most have the same problems but no one gives any answers to what you can do to fix it.
Problems:
.phone restarts at random times until the battery is taken out and put back in
.text messages delete at random times
.phone does not sync with Facebook
.it does not retrieve e-mails
.gets a bit laggy at times for a 1gHz processor
.seems like the side buttons seems a smashed in and do not "click" properly
Does anyone have any answers to these problems?
Also I wanted to do a factory restore so how can I save my files/ contacts/ etc before I do this to see if it fixes any of the problems.
How to backup my phone would be great..
ALright, so I just went from the original samsung galaxy to the htc desire and one of the first things I tried was to sync contacts with facebook. I only want existing contacts to be synced so I chose not to use the facebook for htc sense app as it will sync all facebook users and add them to my contact list (correct me if I'm wrong). So I tried to sync with facebook for android but nothing happens when I chose the account. I get prompted to sign into the app, which I do, I get into the app like normal, but no contacts are synced. Returning to the accounts settings page I cant even select the facebook. It is there to add but when I hit it nothing happens. I did sync with the official twitter app with no problem which I noticed with the samsung galaxy (running froyo) should be the same procedure. Kinda strange issue if you ask me... anyone else encountering this problem?

After going through the screenshots thread I really like the HTC like clock widgets, but most of the ones posted I cannot find, or my captivate wont let me install them since they are not from the market. Are there any good ones in the market? and if not, what's an easy way to sideload? (I'm currently using retro clock in the meantime)

View 13 Replies View RelatedLike everyone who's updated to 2.1, I'm experiencin the same bugs with Facebook (i.e. all my FB contacts show up in my dialer and my txt msgs). Anyways, I was toolin around in Accounts & Sync under Settings. Right now, the accounts I have set up are Google, Weather, and Facebook for HTC Sense. When I click Add an Account, there's something called just "Facebook," in addition to the "Facebook for HTC Sense."I've always known there were two Facebook apps (or whatever you wanna call them) on my phone, cause when I want to share a pic I take, I can do it using either "Facebook" or "Facebook for HTC Sense." I always share the picture using "Facebook" because it allows me to post a comment as well.Anyways, getting back to Accounts & Sync, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how these two apps differ. Maybe if I choose to sync the "Facebook" account as opposed to "Facebook for HTC Sense," that could solve some of these issues we're all having? I have no idea, but I'm hesitant to do anything for fear of clogging up my phone's contact list with Facebook friends.
View 16 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Desire's Facebook directory lists 205 friends for my Facebook, while in reality I have 207 (and Facebook for Android app of course shows them all, too)I'm not quite sure why or how 2 of them have gone missing, but I think one went when I messed a bit up, merged 2 contacts on my phone and started removing information from that contact, so it in the end had only 1 number and 1 facebook friend linked to it. Ever since I haven't been able to see the friend whose contact/link I removed in Facebook directory.I've tried uninstalling Facebook for Android to access Facebook for HTC Sense, but apparently it can't be completely uninstalled - only the update(s) for it, and the cache/data can be uninstalled for what I can tell.
So I've uninstalled it's updates, I've cleared it data/cache - and I've cleared all the cache/data from Facebook for HTC Sense too.I've removed my phone-linked Facebook account, too, with no luck.No matter how many times I try re-syncing or refreshing, the 2 contacts are still missing.One new contact that I added as my friend today appeared normally, though.Any ideas how to fix this? It's annoying when I can't link 1 contact to her Facebook, when I have pretty much everyone else linked to theirs.
Well, I seem to either A) have a problem or B) it's a problem just in general.I have Facebook installed, and there's obviously Facebook for HTC Sense. I want to sync my Facebook account and only that. I don't personally care to use the Sense inspired widgets because I like my streams separate.Anyway, I go into the Accounts menu in settings and removed the Facebook for Sense account and tried to add a new account, but whenever I click Facebook, it does absolutely nothing.I don't understand what's going on. If anyone has any clue, I'd love to hear it!

- Enabled Wifi
- Went to Settings-Account and Sync.
- Added facebook account again with SNS settings (syns interval) set to once a day.
- Made sure I saw the two arrows in the white cirkel spinning around indicating sync.
- Held my finger down to the home screen for 2 seconds to add a Android widget - Power control.
- Enabled Sync (the two arrows in the white cirkel spinning around indicating sync)
- Went to Contacts.
- Pressed Menu - Get Friends
- Next screen showed me my facebook account- Pressed it
- NOW I saw ALL my facebook contacts on my screen!
- Clicked CHOOSE ALL and then syn/save
- Checked in Contacts - Menu - Display Options,. that my Facebook account was checkmarked!
I decided to try out launcher pro but I miss the feeds and updates widget.is there a good facebook widget in the market or anywhere?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI do not have sync birthdays checked under my accounts. The Facebook birthday events have been added to "my calendar" events. I have even done a hard reset.
Seems like a syncing issue. I want to be able to use LPP agenda widget, but I can not customize which calendars to view. This has not happened on my Droid X or Incredible.
I saw previous post about the facebook syncing not working. Whats the issue? I had the same problem.When i first got my phone I had no problem everything synced into my contacts fine and for some stupid reason i deleted my accounts and when i tried to put them back in it didnt work again. I can get the updates but i cant get the actual contacts in my contact phonebook.SECONDLY NOW my twitter account for some reason has disappeared on its own and when i try to add the account it keeps saying that the login failed. I know for a fact im putting in the right information. It also was having a problem sync my twitter contacts in before this incident happened as well. WHAT IS GOING ON?
