When I use the Gmail app it loads very quick and reliable. But when I load the Email app which launches Yahoo or the stand alone yahoo email app, it takes forever to load and 50% of the time it crashes. Anyone else have this problem?

Anyone notice that new emails take 2-3 minutes to show up? I thought it was supposed to be instant?Yahoo email doesn't update until you open the email app.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI remembered from my G1 days a way to sync the E-Mail app up to Yahoo's free (not PoP3) servers so I gave it try on my new BH2 and it works just fine:Here are the steps:
1. Enter Yahoo ID and Password (hint, just use your "username", not the whole joeblow@yahoo.com
2. Select Manual Setup
3. Setup IMAP
4. Incoming server is imap.mail.yahoo.com
5. Port is 143
6. Security Type is "TLS (if available)"
7. Leave IMAP path prefix blank
8. Hit next
9. SMTP Server is smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
10. Port is 25
11. Security is again TLS (if available)
12. Check Require sign-in
13. Verify username and password
14. enjoy
To Sync up, you CANNOT be on WiFi (dunno why, maybe Yahoo has a deal with T-Mobile?).One other note: if after rechecking all your settings and it still says "invalid username/password" try going onto your Yahoo Account and change your "Location" to ASIA ! Weird I know, but for some reason, some people can't get this to work with US-English as their Yahoo Locale (not talking about your phone's settings here, all on Yahoo site end!).
My captivate does not sync with my yahoo mail account when I click the email icon.I am not sure if my incoming and outgoing settings are correct..does anyone know what the right configurations are?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI just got a BOGO with my wife for the Facinate. I switch from a fully rooted/ROMed Incredible. On both our phones, the Market loads and searches VERY slow on WiFi and 3G. My Incrediable loads/searches almost instantly while the Fasinate takes...3, 4, 5,..., 10secs at times. Downloads are slow too.

View 27 Replies View RelatedI got the update that Yahoo Mail 1.2.1 is available but it specifically says that Galaxy S phones aren't supported. Has anyone installed it to a rooted Capitivate? Experiences? I haven't yet installed it because I can't get side-loading enabled and I don't want to upgrade if I can't roll back to the prior version. That said, I hate the prior versions of Yahoo Mail because I find them extraordinarily slow. It routinely takes me >30 seconds for email body text to appear when I open a message.

I tried the following settings and it miraculously worked! I've been getting my Yahoo email on my Moment flawlessly for the past month: Go to manual setup > IMAP account and change to these settings....
INCOMING
Imap server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
port - 143
security type - TLS (if available)
OUTGOING
SMTP Server- smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
port - 25
security type - TLS (if available)

However, my Yahoo email just stopped working on my Moment yesterday (it won't load new emails into my inbox on my phone)! It keeps telling me "username or password incorrect".. WTH!
Is anyone else having this issue recently? Could this be a new change that Yahoo made?
Does anyone else have any ideas of what the next step could be to resolve this? I'll bet my turkey that if I called Sprint Tech Support they would refer me to Yahoo, and if I called Yahoo, they'd refer me to Sprint!
Also, if you are using the same settings that I've been using and it is still working okay for you, please be so kind as to advise- so I know that that setting above is still working, and it is more likely just an issue with my Sprint Account.
I've tried to do this and it won't sync up... any thoughts?

With the iphone when I hung up a call it instantly goes back to whatever screen I was on and I can instantly lock the screen. With the captivate it flashes call ended...wait...then call time...wait...then finally out of the call and I can lock the screen.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that if I ever turn my captivate off and then reboot it; it will take anywhere from 3-5 minutes for the Captivate to fully boot and become usable. Prior to then it is unbelievably laggy and if I even try to dial out it freezes.
I moved my 4gb of music from the internal SD card to the external SD card thinking that may make a difference but that did not solve the problem.
I'm a newbie to this forum, and hope someone can help. Have had the Captivate for almost a month now and am plagued by an annoying problem. I have set up email accounts connecting to a google-hosted email account via IMAP. I am finding that when replying to a received email, my reply goes out with redundant repetitions of the email address on the "to" line. Example: Email from soandso@gmail.com arrives. I click "reply" on the phone and the reply goes out to soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com etc etc *10 times*, instead of just once. It also copies me about 10 times! Is anybody else seeing this? I use this for work emails, so it looks very unprofessional like I am trying to spam my clients! I have another couple of days before my 30-day return period is up, so hopefully someone else know how to fix this. Is there some setting I am overlooking?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have set up the Email app on the phone to connect to my Yahoo! Mail account. However, the Email app always regards incoming messages as unread even if they have already been marked as read on the Yahoo! Mail account itself. This makes the unread messages count in the Email app inaccurate and unhelpful.
The Email app does not appear to possess a facility to mark several messages as read, the only way to bring the unread count down is to open each message in turn. Sometimes a message has to be opened twice in the app before it is regarded as read. I can delete more than one message on the phone, but this also deletes the messages on the Yahoo! Mail account, which is not what I want.
I have tried deleting the email account from the Email app and then reinstating it, but I now have an unread message count of 50 on the phone when all of these messages have, in fact, already been read on the Yahoo! Mail account.
I can also access the Yahoo! Mail account by means of the Yahoo! Mail app on the phone, but one of the disadvantages of this is that the icon for Yahoo! Mail does not possess an unread messages count at all.
Anyone here have facebook on their phone? If so is it super laggy cause it's making my phone slow.

When I use the default email client from captivate, even when I set the checking period as every 10mins, I won't get new emails unless I open the app and manually refresh, well, except the one of gmail. This happens on my yahoo email, hotmail and my school email, which all worked fine on my old iphone. People have talked about yahoo mails won't be accessible through wifi from Android, which happens on mine too. But even when I was at 3G, the email client won't auto check it either. I have tried K9 email client, it doesn't work either. The only thing I find work is the MailDriod, but the function of this app is very limited, it won't even open attachments by default. Does anyone else here have the same problem, or maybe an idea to fix the default email client?Also, I find when I use the ear set make calls, when I try to click the button on the ear set, it won't hang up the call as my iphone would. Is this a bug or just something Andriod can't do? The button on the ear set seems quite useless with Captivate, it can only control to play or pause by single click when play music, won't do song change when doule click it.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI just pulled the battery to do a reset last night after a lockup and today I'm getting notifications everytime I get a new email. it never used to do this and i figured it was just cause I didn't use the gmail. now I'm thinking that it just might be one of the background tasks that I was always killing. I recently switched to home++ and I didn't use the built in task killer all day. so I guess my question is, does anyone know which background task would control this so I don't kill it? also, is there a place to go in the settings to change the led color for email alerts?

I am a Yahoo PLUS member, so I set it up as the yahoo mail site said to (plus.pop.mail.yahoo.mail etc). When I do a manual mail check, it takes FOREVER to download the emails! What is going on here? gmail is super fast to download, but the yahoo takes 5 minutes sometimes. i dont understand. I dont want to use the IMAP either.

I am really digging this phone and have no intentions of going back ever. I see the little indicator at the top of the phone but I wanted something more noticeable or annoying.is there anything better?Figured I would ask you folks what you use or recommend for this phone.
