I use commas alot and hate having to press an Alt key or whatever. This is true in Swype, Android, Samsung, and even the BetterKeyboard app I installed.
Any way to customize the keyboards in the Captivate?

Is there an option while using swype to have a period after sentences? Like the iphone u just double tap the space bar and it appears.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn occasion, I'll be typing (either vertical or horizontal orientation) and I'll hit the punctuation button (not a long-press on the period) to type a dash and the damn keyboard removes the space I typed after the word. So if I wanted to write the following sentence I'd have to hit delete "I never type dashes -- only semicolons."
Why does the keyboard repeatedly remove the space between the s in dashes and the dash itself? Is there a setting to stop that? Nothing more irritating than speeding along and having to back up because I typed it properly and the device decided to intervene for my benefit.
Aside from switching keyboard applications -- which I don't want to do -- any way to get around this other than hitting delete and retyping it properly
I am using Galaxy for last couple days and if is a very good phone except couple things for me.
Is there a way to customize or add ringtones to the Notification Sounds?
This phone has lousy calendar which do not even sound notification at or before appt time
The Swype Keyboard on my wife's Captivate is not working correctly. The SYM button and the one to the left of it are blanked out - meaning they are just black boxes and clicking/pressing them does nothing. She has had to switch to the default keyboard and she hates it.Any idea what is going on and how to fix this?

I have an issue and my phone refuses to listen. I am currently using the Android Keyboard but I want to use the Samsung Keyboard because it fixes common typed errors (although the Android Keyboard Settings says it does too, but it doesn't) However, when I switch to Samsung Keyboard, every letter I press it makes an awful clicking popping noise. I know there is no setting under Samsung Keyboard Settings for Sound on Keypress but there is one under Android Keyboard. I have turned it off but the Samsung Keyboard keeps making the clicking/popping noise.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy in the world would they release the Samsung keyboard without the ability to distinguish between search textboxes and URL textboxes. I recently switched from my favorite keyboard, Swype, to the Samsung keyboard which I noticed did quite well with fixing any typing errors I made because of non-tactile buttons. Any way, every time I go to type in something to search for...I get the keyboard with the "www." and ".com" instead of the space bar. ie if I have an EditText with 12345 in it, how can I display this as 12,345?
I think I can do it using substring and chopping it up into x number of 3 number chunks then concatenating the answer with ',' between each 3 number chunk.
This would be pretty easy if length of number was constant, but as the number could be from one digit to, say 20, it makes it more complex.
Just curious if there is a simple and clean way to achieve this before I go about making my substring solution.
