The Swype Keyboard on my wife's Captivate is not working correctly. The SYM button and the one to the left of it are blanked out - meaning they are just black boxes and clicking/pressing them does nothing. She has had to switch to the default keyboard and she hates it.Any idea what is going on and how to fix this?

Was holding my phone a weird way, hit some buttons by accident and there were weird keys on there. Arrows, cut, copy, paste buttons. Don't know how I got there, would like to know how to get back though.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe Captivate (and Galaxy S in general) all come with Swype, right? But Swype isn't a market app right now, right? As in, the HTC Aria can't get it unless it is rooted/worked around (not too hard, but a hassle)
So is the Captivate the only phone on AT&T that can officially have swype? We all know that Apple won't let Swype in their market

First off I know im in the wrong thread but the samsung captivate is not under a list in the root thread.Iv watched non stop videos on rooting my samsun captivate but none are on mac.I installed the android drivers correctly through terminal but I dont know how to put the update.zip folder in my internal sd correctly
I keep getting E:cant open /sdcard/update.zip.I dont know how to do this on mac..I know im close..Pleas someone help me..one again im on a mac!
Has anyone tested the GPS yet? It appears that a lot of people have complained about the GPS on the SGS. How is the GPS working on the captivate?
View 26 Replies View RelatedI tried to install Swype. It installed no problem, and I can select it as an input method. All is good, untill I try to swype a word. I get the little "swype mark" blue streak deal, and it makes the noise, but no word appears in the text box area. I've tried it on the internet, handcent, and normal messages.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSeems as though the accuracy of Swype has been going down for me over the last 2 weeks. I haven't messed with any of the settings. The main thing is that it will put in a word that I am clearly not spelling, even if I go so slow and make sure I'm touching the exact letters.
The biggest culprit for me is the word, "WANT". It keeps spelling it as "WASN'T". It is driving me crazy. I am making 100% sure I am not touching the apostrophe at all. And it will still spell "WASN'T". I have to manually type the word "WANT" everytime. There are other examples, but that is the biggest one.
Advice?
Is swype available on Captivate? I haven't been able to find it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got my phone up and running with sense-able 2.0 but for some reason swype is not working correctly. It never seems to make the line all the way to the letter I'm trying to type. Its like this for every letter. Its especially missing the last letter it usually ends up a couple letters away from where I end up. I was using it just fine when I wasn't rooted and on 1.5 but now its giving me problems. I've even tried playing with the settings and it doesn't seem to help. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I guess I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

However on the DroidX, the keyboard looks identical, but it does have the mic. Can we download a new version of swype that has this enabled. I like swype but want to be able to talk to my phone.

I am currently using the Android Keyboard but I want to use the Samsung Keyboard because it fixes common typed errors (although the Android Keyboard Settings says it does too, but it doesn't) However, when I switch to Samsung Keyboard, every letter I press it makes an awful clicking popping noise. I know there is no setting under Samsung Keyboard Settings for Sound on Keypress but there is one under Android Keyboard. I have turned it off but the Samsung Keyboard keeps making the clicking/popping noise.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf all you're trying to do is transfer files from/to your Captivate, and you're having trouble with the USB drivers, just download an app called SwiFTP. I got it and it took me half a minute to gain access to my files and MP3s on the phone, wirelessly, over WiFi, using Windows file explorer. Then just drag, drop, delete, copy, whatever.
No jailbreaking, rooting, sideloading or hacking required. I think this should be a sticky since so many people are having trouble with USB.
Anyone know why the Captivate doesn't have the microphone on the keyboard for texting or emailing like my old nexus one did? Thought all Android devices had this. Any idea how to get it?

I found out how to add stuff to the stock android dictionary, but I added stuff I meant as just a test and now I don't know how to delete them.I posted this on xda but haven't gotten an answer yet. Was wondering if anybody here had some insight.Keep in mind this is the STOCK ANDROID keyboard I'm talking about, not swype. For this phone there is no "Language and Keyboard" setting, which is the answer I came across when I tried to google for an answer.

Will you be able to use a bluetooth keyboard with the Captivate? mouse? It runs the 3.0 bluetooth, would that be an issue? Can 2.0 bluetooth devices work with 3.0?

But I noticed something odd today. I had to install the .apk of the android keyboard that's floating around the forums. And I noticed that haptic feedback on keypress doesn't work. Anybody else have this problem? Know a solution?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else finding that their keyboard lags when typing moderately quickly? I am using the Android keyboard and for the life of me I can not type "might" without it hiccuping and only getting "miht", "miht", "miht".
I've turned off the suggestion bar, auto-completion, and system sound...but still the keyboard is awful. It has been the same way with both of the Captivates that I've had.
For someone my keyboard on me Xperia X10 Mini doesn't seem to work as it should and by that i mean when i press some buttons like the . or a it. will print out more than one letter or even a whole string of numbers. Also when i press the back button all it does is close the app rather then going back. Which is what the middle button should be doing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI swear that WiFi seems to quit working half the time. I'll be browsing the web, it will quit working, and I can turn WiFi off and 3G works just fine. When I re enable Wifi, it works for a bit and then does it again. I'm on a 24MB/s Internet connection, and everything else wireless in the home works fine(my iPhone 4 works flawlessly).
