When in text msg mode, I want to select and use the Android Keypad. However, the only keypad types available from the list are:Qwerty, 3x4, Handwriting Box 1, & Handwriting Box 2.How can I select the Android keypad so I can do voice texting?

I put my phone in my pocket, and forgot to lock it.Something setting wise got changed and now it clicks/beeps every time i type. I went to settings>sound and display>audible selection.its unchecked.ive toggled it, powercycled the phone and even yelled at it.

Is there a way to specify it should only be using the android IME?Can I specify resources for specific phones similar to how I can control resources for versions of android?

The SYM button and the one to the left of it are blanked out - meaning they are just black boxes and clicking/pressing them does nothing. But I noticed something odd today. I had to install the .apk of the android keyboard that's floating around the forums. And I noticed that haptic feedback on keypress doesn't work. Anybody else have this problem? Know a solution?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use Spinner as a button with selection pop-up. Basically I want an icon and when user clicks it - the popup list is displayed and user can make a selection. The Spinner happily accepts icon image as drawable background. Unfortunately when I select a value the text overlays the background. Is it possible to set selection text color as a transparent? Or maybe there's a better way?

I am currently using the Android Keyboard but I want to use the Samsung Keyboard because it fixes common typed errors (although the Android Keyboard Settings says it does too, but it doesn't) However, when I switch to Samsung Keyboard, every letter I press it makes an awful clicking popping noise. I know there is no setting under Samsung Keyboard Settings for Sound on Keypress but there is one under Android Keyboard. I have turned it off but the Samsung Keyboard keeps making the clicking/popping noise.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy in the world would they release the Samsung keyboard without the ability to distinguish between search textboxes and URL textboxes. I recently switched from my favorite keyboard, Swype, to the Samsung keyboard which I noticed did quite well with fixing any typing errors I made because of non-tactile buttons. Any way, every time I go to type in something to search for...I get the keyboard with the "www." and ".com" instead of the space bar. Do I have to switch to the Android keyboard or is there a way to get past this problem?

I found out how to add stuff to the stock android dictionary, but I added stuff I meant as just a test and now I don't know how to delete them.I posted this on xda but haven't gotten an answer yet. Was wondering if anybody here had some insight.Keep in mind this is the STOCK ANDROID keyboard I'm talking about, not swype. For this phone there is no "Language and Keyboard" setting, which is the answer I came across when I tried to google for an answer.

I've turned off the suggestion bar, auto-completion, and system sound...but still the keyboard is awful. It has been the same way with both of the Captivates that I've had.
I use commas alot and hate having to press an Alt key or whatever. This is true in Swype, Android, Samsung, and even the BetterKeyboard app I installed.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with my M3U playlists.
I use the default Samsung media player, Isyncr and Itunes. Although I have also used the Doubletwist Player (not the desktop software) and had the same issue, I just prefer the Samsung default player mainly because of the lock screen app.
Here is the issue.
First, I sync my playlists with Itunes using Isyncr, all of the songs come over great, art and tags, everything is perfect. It also creates M3U playlists on my phone. I double checked that everything is there.
Then when I unmount, media scanner scans my SD card (which takes way longer than it should) and it deletes all of my playlists. Now a little research on XDA forums tells me that this is because anytime the media scanner scans a playlist and can't find all of the songs from that playlist, it assumes it is an old playlist and deletes it. The problem is that when I look through the M3U files, every song referenced in the list is on the card...they are all there, yet it keeps deleting them.
Does anyone know of a solution to make it stop deleting my playlists?
I rooted my captivate thinking that i could install apps that are blocked on my phone, like Sirius XM, WiFI tethering.....even after rooting the programs are still being blocked and i cant install them. am i missing something? im new to android and had an iphone that i jail broke. im confused on what rooting actually.
