Samsung Captivate :: Simplest Way To Side Load Apps
Jul 21, 2010I don't know if this was already posted and I am sorry if it was, but I would just like to show people how to sideload apps NOT using root and in very simple words.
1. Download Droid Explorer for your system. (de - Release: Droid Explorer 0.8.7.0 Beta)
2. Now, go to your phone. Settings> Applications> Development > USB Debugging.
3. Make sure you downloaded the drivers for the captivate then plug in your phone and select PC connect and mount the phone.
4. Now open Droid Explorer and connect the device. Right click and select batch install.
5. Now a screen should pop up and you should select the APKs you would like to install and it is self explanatory from there on out.
That should do it, sorry if this was posted somewhere else or something but I kind of figured this out on my own even though I am not a very techy guy.
Samsung Moment :: Get Side Loaded Music To Work As SMS Ringer?
Dec 23, 2009I have loaded some of my own music to use as ringers, and they show up when selecting phone ringers and via contacts to select unique ringers for specific contacts, but they do NOT show up when I am trying to select the ringer to use for SMS messaging. Only the factory ringers show up for SMS. Any idea how to get my side loaded music to work as the SMS ringer?! I can't stand the factory ringers. This was so easy to do on my BB Curve and Palm Pixi, so I am baffled why I can't figure it out on my Moment.

Aug 27, 2010Download and use a program called Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine. It's a one click solution, works amazingly on the Captivate and requires no hassle. The program claims to work on un-rooted phones (though mine is rooted).My girlfriend's Captivate is not rooted though so I will test this out on her phone as well to confirm it. Check it out though. I've already gone to town with this and it works great.

Then Root access no biggie
Busy box no biggie.
Then it goes into the CMD language for PC on how to edit the database file using CMD prompts to enable the sideloading of APKs directly on the phone.......................
Samsung Captivate :: Get Pre-loaded App From Market?
Aug 10, 2010Is there an app either pre-loaded on the Captivate, or one I can get from the Market, that will just show you where you are right away, without you having to enter a destination, and as you move around it will update your location, maybe with Street view or 3D or something? Maybe Navigation does this and I don't know how, but when I start Navigation it wants me to enter a destination.

Aug 6, 2010I've seen many threads on the crappy side asking how to side load apps (installing non market apps) well you can root (look for the sticky in our forum) or you just use the Side loading Wonder Machine with no need to root. I use it all the time (just got me an Oregon Trail apk anyway, just follow the instructions and you'll be happy. I would make two minor corrections though. I downloaded the samsung drivers from samsung them selfs. Also make sure you have the apk in the same folder as the wonder machine heres a video.

Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. Jul 31, 2009I'm developing an app and i need to detect when the user shakes the phone from side to side , that means just along one axis (in this case X).I want to know when the user shakes the phone to the left and when to the right, the problem is that my code does not detect shaking but tilt, i have tested this code and it works when i tilt the phone to left or to the right, but not when a shake it from side to side (no matter the orientation of the phone).
