Sep 25, 2010I have a desire from The Carphone warehouse. unbranded. but it has preloaded apps on it. stock, facebook and some other crap. is there anyway at all of uninstalling them plz. I'm pretty anal about having things running in the backgroud and fed up of FC them.

HTC Droid Eris :: Market Not Showing Updates For Astro Loaded Apps
Jun 1, 2010Not sure if anyone has noticed or if its just my phone.Im running the OTA2.1 rooted with the Aloysius Rom(has happened with other roms also) and it seems like every app that i have installed through Astro Manager doesnt show/update in the market.is anyone else having this problem whether your phone is stock or rooted?

Jun 26, 2010I see a few "uninstall apps" on the market and I am wondering why there are such applications. Uninstalling an app from the phone is not that complicated and it is quite fast. Maybe my question is silly but I am very new to Android. I know that Windows for example does not uninstall programs properly, and one needs often a third party program to really make a clean uninstall. Is that the same with Android, or do these apps just make it faster to uninstall an app (with the same result that one will get with a "uninstall" process through the apps manager)?

2. The phone came with handcent messaging app which is cool but what is not cool and semi annoying is every time I get a text message it alerts me with the original app and that one. and if i check one the other one does not always clear the alert.

Nov 23, 2009I have an HTC Droid Eris with Verizon. It came installed with several apps that not only do I not use, but that in some cases start automatically. These include Amazon MP3, Footprints, Google Talk, Teeter, and YouTube. I would like to uninstall them, but I am not given that option (like I am for third-party apps) when I go into "Manage applications" in Settings. Is there another way of removing them from my phone?

There are a bunch of pre-loaded apps on my phone (Facebook, twitter, stocks, my verizon) and they are always running in the background according to my task killer app. I want to get rid of them, and I have read that you cannot unless you "root" your phone. What exactly does rooting do? I know that it can permanently mess up your phone, so, is it worth it? Do you think that htc will update android to enable you to delete these pre-loaded apps?
