Aug 30, 2010Been using Handcent for a long time now and generally happy with it. However I get random "failed to send" error messages. Over time I've come to discover that most of the time the message is an error and the intended txt message was indeed sent. If I resend most say they get the same txt multiple times. Is anyone else seeing this? I was gonna post over on the Handcent forum but I'm not registered there so figured I'd try here first. This has been happening for months now over all the version upgrades. I'm actually not so sure this is a Handcent thing or a hardware thing. And again this is very random and doesn't happen all that often. Using Firmware 2.1 update 1.

Is that normal?

Jul 26, 2010I have a Samsung Moment, it's running the Radioactive Froyo rom(so it's rooted)...but I cant seem to download Launcherpro. I have tried to download it straight from the market...NO DICE! I went to the launcherpro website downloaded it straight to SD and used OI Installer AND Appinstaller to install...NO DICE! All I keep getting is an error message that says "install unsuccessful". Launcherpro's FAQ says that if this happens then you have an android OS that is not compatible, but says nothing on how to fix or what to do about it.
Searched high and low for help in other threads, but most of them focused on once the app was already downloaded (including the launcherpro website), I cant even get this one installed, I'm really stumped...and I dont want to be "that guy" who didnt do a search in order to find an answer to a simple problem, but honestly, I've been trying for two days to fix this.

So I finally was able to figure out upgrading to 2.1 required me to plug directly into my PC's motherboard instead of a USB HUB (My G15 Keyboard) And I was watching a few videos and saw a program called linpack. Now I wanted to get 2.1 because my moment felt incredibly sluggish. After the upgrade it does feel faster but I ran linpack to see what I got. It came back at 2.578 MFLOPS and took 35.52 seconds. In the videos it took like 1/4 of a second to finish, I am waiting over half a minute! What is going on here. Bad install of linpack or is my phone running with the snails.

May 16, 2010I am trying to install 2.1 on my wifes Moment and I ran into a problem. I got through the install to the point where you press "start upgrade". I got to 9 seconds elapsed, and it froze. I also had problems with connecting the phone after pressing the volumedown/camera/power button combo.
After having to restart the install I can't even get past the first time you plug the usb cable in. It just does not seem to see the phone plugged in.
I had these same exact problems when upgrading my phone a couple days ago, and must have got lucky. After a bout 2 hours of trying it over and over again, it finally went through and the update worked.
Any ideas?

Android :: Failed To Install SDK Update
Jul 30, 2010I'm trying to update my SDK but every time I get this same warning dialog:
-= Waning! =- A folder failed to be renamed or moved.
The folder is <ANDROID_SDK>/tools. I searched for help in this group about this error and found some answers. But none of them worked for me. Looking at Process Explorer tool I found that the problem is the "java.exe" that is keeping several JAR file handles opened in that directory. Closing the handles hangs the "java.exe". What can I do? I am stuck in this step.

Feb 17, 2009I follow the instruction to install my toy application, which ran well on my Mac.
1. Within Eclipse, I did "Android Tools-->Export Unsigned Application Package" to save MyApplication.apk into ~/workspace/MyApplication.apk.
2. Now Connect Your G1 Phone to your computer using USB cable. You need to install Drivers for this. Download Android USB drivers from here. This driver is required for adb to interface with an android G1 phone using USB cable.
3. Go to Android Settings/SD card & phone storage and disable Use for USB storage. You can enable it again later after you installed your third-party application.
4. Go to Settings/Application settings and enable Unknown sources.
5. adb install ~/workspace/MyApplication.apk
But this is the error I got: tools > ./adb install ~/Documents/workspace/MyApplication.apk 1644 KB/s (214695 bytes in 0.127s)

Oct 6, 2010Lately anytime I go to download a app from The Marketplace, the updated versioo of the app will download and but fail to install. I have plenty of room on my phones internal memory and I have full 3G service. Any sugestions on what could be causing this probelm.

Jun 6, 2013I am using htc Desire S and I have installed 4EXT Recovery 2.2.7 RC5.
My HBOOT Version is 2.00.002.
Just now I tried many times (even trying with different SD cards) but I failed to install Endymion V3.5 (Link below) [URL]
The problem is: When I installed, and reboot, it shows "htc" in green words with bright white background, then all black, then "htc" in green words with white background again, then it boots into 4EXT Recovery 2.2.7 RC5.
I used "wipe all partitions except SD card". Then install from SD card, choosing the correct zip file (And it also shows to me that I have successfully installed the ROM)
I then tried to use another ROM: [URL]
This one, it successfully does not boot me into Recovery, but it remains on the booting screen for more than 10 minutes, so I suspect it also failed...
I then continued to try this: [URL]
THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME AS INSTALLING ENDYMION!!
Finally, I reinstalled my old ROM: [URL]
AND IT SUCCEEDED.

Now I suspect it was the problem of Andriod version, those ROM which booted into recovery are all (though only 2) 2.3.5
Any other thing (except full wipe) I need to do or change or make sure, before installing Endymion V3.5?
(I even tried both EXT3 and EXT4. Also failed.......)

Logcat says: at.tomtasche.altitude requires unavailable shared library com.google.android.maps; failing! I developed an app with google maps before and there it works fine. And yes i have the uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" in the application tag of my manifest. It also works in the emulator, just my device dont install it.

Nov 24, 2010I have some problem installing my apk file in code. Wondering if anyone could find out what I did wrong.
What I was trying to do is put a Check Upgrade function in our program. When user clicks it, it will send request to our web server and find out what is the latest version. I use app versionName to stamp a version, something like 2010.11.23. I don't use the version code in Manifest.xml file. So our program sees the latest VersionName is later than itself, it will download the latest one, and then use the following code to install the new apk file:

Now looks like, everytime when I changed the VersionName, it will fail to install the apk file. It downloads the file fine. I don't know exactly why. Sometimes, in Eclips, when I hit debug, I got error saying "Re-installation failed due to different application signatures". I don't know if this is the same error caused the installation failed.
So, looks like my questions are:
Should that upgrade logic work? I am wondering if it has something to do with the VersoinName.
What could cause the application signature change? (I did sign our program before I put it on our server, but I always use the same key file for different versionName. )
Android :: After Failed Fennec Install Memory Full?
Sep 27, 2010Had about 30 megabytes open, and did not check on Fennec size. Install failed, due to lack of space. But, now I show 249 of 261 megs used. I not sure why, if the installed failed, how any space was used. And, did not find any apps installed under Fenenc or Mozilla. Also, when I try to update other apps, the update process starts, but never completes.How can I find what did install and delete it, or regain my free space.
