I'm just being stupid and overlooking a simple setting, but I'm pretty sure on my old HTC Hero there was an option in the settings to always load web pages in either mobile form, or the full web page (classic). Is this something that I can do in the settings on the Nexus one, because I do find it a little annoying having to regularly reload pages in "classic" view?

Has anyone figured out a way to have the Captivate default browser not load mobile pages? I didn't fork out all this extra money to load websites in the same format as my old flip phone.

An example gizmodo.com, it only happens with the full version of the site not the mobile version. It appears to be javascript related, because when I disable javascript the page will load without crashing. This happens both in the standard browser and in DolphinHD. Also, sometimes before crashing DolphinHD will show a page saying: "The Web page at file:///android_asset/webkit could not be loaded as: The requested file was not found. webkit/"
View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm had a really strange bug/problem in Android for months and I still haven't been able to find the roou cause of it in order to fix it. For some reason the browser is not rendering correctly webpages - the fonts are extremely small and the page is off centered. This is happening only while on 3G/Edge connection - if using WiFi this issue doesn't occur.
This happens with every single browser: Stock Browser, Firefox, Chrome, Dolphin, etc.
I thought this was a ROM specific issue, but I have tried flashing more than 3 ROMs now (every time I've flashed i've done a wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and wipe data/factory reset) with no luck. I also tried formatting the internal SD.
I am running a droid x currently unrooted (but have been rooted since 2.1).
I have rooted every install of 2.2 except for my current one (for testing purposes).
The problem is that every two or so weeks ever since installing the 2.2 OTA I have to do a factory reset in order for my 3G internet to work on the phone.
Let me explain the symptoms. Randomly the phone will refuse to finish loading webpages or market items over 3G. Sometimes after waiting a real long time or clicking a lot it will load the pages... but sometimes it will not. The internet still functions fine on the phone over wifi connection, and here's the real surprise: I can tether my laptop via both wireless tether and barnacle I get full speed on the computer even though on the phone it won't load. It always ends up taking a factory reset before it will work again.
I have 3G and my signal bars are fine.
I have been trying to figure this out for weeks. Here are the things I've tried so far:
-Cycle phone off and on multiple times.
-Cycle wifi and airplane mode multiple times.
-Multiple battery pulls.
-Clear cache and force close every application and service known to man.
-Uninstall various applications to see if they are causing problems.
-Remove SU privileges from different/all root apps.
-Try different browsers.
-*228 both options 1 and 2
-Repair privileges.
I have done a facory reset with froyo 4 times now. Each time within 2-12 days the problem returns and I can't fix it without a reset. The last three times I've reset I have gone through the whole process skipping every option to install accounts etc. as recommended to many guides.
My work is setting up a secure webpage and we are expected to be able to access it 24/7 to log alerts received when there are server errors at work. To access this secure webpage we were given two certificates, one for windows (home use) and one for mobile ( a .p12 file which I've read is compatible). I cannot access the webpage via Android browser or chrome browser (or any other 3rd party browser). I've imported the certificate using the import feature in Settings->Security and it showed a brief notification that the import was successful. However, the certificate isn't listed in the "User" section of the trusted credentials list. Now, I would suspect that the certificate wasn't made correctly, but the same exact one works on a co-workers iPhone (pains me to say that). I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, rooted, but otherwise stock.

Sometimes when trying to load a page the green loading bar goes about halfway and stops (the page is already loaded), if I try to stop the action and hit the X button it says 'Stopping' but the bar stays stuck on halfway, and when I try to enter text like in google, nothing happens when I hit the search button. Its not my internet as this happens both on WiFi and 3G. I would take the phone back but I am a bit scared as my phone so far has no light leakage, 30+ hours of battery life, hardware 003, and a nice novatec screen.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have read quite a bit on task killers and decided that I didn't want to use them, but a friend of mine who has a G1 brought up an interesting point. He told me to look at the programs that are currently running. So I did and saw that there were about 7 that were running in the background that I NEVER use. I understand that you don't want to be constantly shutting down programs you use because it will make your phone run slower (can't access them as quickly). But what about programs I never use? I only use the GMAIL ap, so I don't need the email or the corporate email running. I don't have virtual voice mail, so I don't need that... and so on. Right now, rooting is beyond me, so I'm not going to do that. Are there any other options other than rooting to keep these from loading?

Which, as already happened to me once on a rom for the old model (solved by changing rom) that the 'application youtube, when playing HD video upload of videos about 50sec and then stops charging, obviously causing blockage of the video.
I installed the 'latest version of youtube from the market (that I added because the series is not present) and in any case if I look at the videos from the site you can see ... like this? (obviously not a problem with the network or wifi)
if I disable the 'HQ and reactivated the video start again for another 50sec and then stops.
I find myself pressing the wrong link quite frequently and I was wondering if anyone has discovered a faster way than pres menu>stop or the X next to the URL? Preferably on the keyboard.

I've done the "Hello World" tutorial which it worked fine the first time I tried it. Now every time I run it I get the emulator's main screen showing up instead of the "Hello World" text. With main screen I mean a background image with the current time and a battery charging icon.
I'm using Log.i in the activity and it seems it's loading fine, because I can see the logs in the LogCat's view.
Is there any known issue about it?
Recently I have found when I open the Auto Back up file in the Gallery app, it loads all the thumbnails up to a point and then nothing. The screen shot below shows where the loading stops:

The photos appear in the new Photos app and on G+.
Ok not sure if this is a bug in test froyo but everytime i go into 'settings' then 'manage applications' I view an apps details, but when pressing back button to go back to list it says loading and it never ends. I have to go back, back twice then re-enter the list. Has anyone heard of this or anyone know how i can somehow reset this ? I know i can use an uninstaller but i want to be able to move to sd etc etc without headache..

Today I tried to restore my phone back to stock ROM and as I was trying to get into recovery mode and complete a nand restore but it wouldn't let me get in. It would just reboot me back into bootloader. I tried updating my superboot and recovery image to 1.7 and it's just stuck at the loading screen now. Is there anyway to restore it?

Even if I put a photo on my phone at the right resolution for the screen, it makes me crop it to fit the phone for home screen scrolling.
