View 2 Replies View RelatedI used HTC to bring it back to "stock." Now installing PC36IMG.zip doesn't do anything at all. I get no superuser privileges. I can't even install superuser from the market. Does reverting to stock via HTC Sync permanently disable root? I can still boot up into Recovery manually and go back to a nand backup and all that. But I can't get adb to do anything ("adb denied" error and "su denied" error). I also can't get Windows-Recovery.bat to recognize the stupid phone. Maybe I should return it and get a fresh phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Gmail and use the Gmail app as my mail app. Gmail notifies me when I have new mail. My Droid also came with the Email app, which is also hooked into my gmail account. By default, it also checks for new messages and notifies me about them. Naturally, I don't want the double-notifications, and the Email app is also crap at marking emails off as read if I've read them in Gmail. So I went into the Email app settings and unchecked "Send notification." That worked great. BUT... it keeps turning itself back on. If I ever restart my phone, it comes back again with the same stupid notifications. I think sometime it resets itself if it restarts itself after I kill it. how to turn off notifications PERMANENTLY?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo sometimes I'll go into my contacts and notice that some of them have the green ball lit up telling me that they are online in gtalk. Now I am not signed onto gtalk... but yet somehow I see that in my running services that GTalkService is running.
I can only assume that its eating away battery trying to see how is online and not. I certainly don't need this info unless I wish to go online myself... in which case I would actually go into the gtalk app.
ANyways, obviously i've been killing it in the running services, but it just comes back all on its own. ANy idea why or how to stop it?
I got a new Tmobile Vibrant. Used Samsung Kies to tether. Worked great until Tmobile sent an update to disable tehering so I got a new phone. Now the race is on. They are trying to push an OTA update that is trying to install which the vibrant to disable tehering again and the phone gives me 24 hours each time I delay the install. How do we stop the installation for good or can it be done on a non rooted phone at all?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Gmail. When I receive an e-mail, I get the same e-mail twice one in the HTC mail box and the other in the Google mail box. I have tried to delete the HTC mail but it will not allow me. If I go to manage applications and choose HTC mail, I can choose forced stop which temporarily stops the double e-mail. It will always revert back however to receving e-mails. Is there a way to permanently stop HTC mail or delete it permanently?

What I am asking is when I IM someone and they reply back, the persons reply goes on top of my reply. The IM's are out of order. I tried to reboot etc but it keeps happening. It just started maybe about 30 mins ago.

I signed out from hangouts from my phone, it does sign me out from gtalk, but after sometime i guess some application is running and changing it to "online" again.
Radio Shack had this phone on sale for $14 cash this weekend, I picked up a couple of them to setup to use for WiFi text/music/YouTube phones for my kids.
I have rooted them and now just want to get rid of the Virgin Mobile automatic profile update that attempts to happen when I power on the phone. If possible, I would like to permanently disable the cellular data/voice modem as well leaving WiFi enabled. What app I should disable/ remove through titanium backup to do this?
I have absolutely no intention of ever activating these phones for traditional cell service. They will strictly be used as WiFi android devices. Basically a cheapo alternative to an iPod.
I have set the phone for airplane mode and then enabled WiFi to prevent them from making calls, this is a reasonable solution but they could turn on the cell radio and start trying to activate, although they wouldn't get far as they don't have a way to provide payment anyway.
Problem is their mother isn't the brightest and when they are away at mom's, I would like to be able to text them and not be on the phone with her troubleshooting them constantly.
I installed Omnirom for n7000. I found the opendelta is always running. And it may make my screen cannot sleep. How can I stop or disable opendelta?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHere is the short version of the story:Stock EPE54B N1 -> Unlocked Bootloader -> Root -> Cyanogenmod 5.0.6 -> WTF?! STOP REBOOTING -> Stock EPE54B -> WTF!? STOP REBOOTING -> ?I have reinstalled the stock image, Froyo, Cyanogenmod, I've had to pull the battery numerous times because booting would often freeze at the X.There were points where it would just boot up, get to the lock screen, reboot, do this several times.I'm about ready to go back to the iPhone now. Unfortunately, I didn't stick around long enough in stock before installing Cyanogenmod to see if that is the cause of all my problems.another thing I thought about, is that I've had to pull the battery so many times that maybe I need to something equivalent to "fsck" on my phone.I haven't seen many people have so many issues with reboots as me, so maybe the phone itself is bad, but I have no idea how to check.

View 2 Replies View Relatedso i have an n1 for at&t and i just got the ota update for froyo last night. today i'm trying out the default web browser to see what kinds of flash videos i can see. i already downloaded the flash player from the market. plus i went into the setting for the browser with regards to "about:debug" then changed the UAString to desktop. but for some reason when i go to a website like nbc.com to try and go watch a full episode of the office, it only loads the mobile version of the site. also when i check out the facebook page it always automatically loads the "touch" version of the site. how can i get it to default to the desktop regular full site version? can anyone tell me a way around this or a setting change other than try a different browser?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to permanently disable anti-aliasing? I find anti-aliasing a little irritating. It simply smooths out images which essentially strips out details. I've never liked it.
I find myself slowly scrolling back and forth in the browser to disable the anti-aliasing so that the images I view are more defined.
It seems most poeple complained that the anti-aliasing slowed down performance but that isn't my issues. I simply don't like how it degrades an image.
I'm using nexus 7 2013 version and use a cover from nikkin. This my cover is able to lock screen when I close the cover. But I don't like this feature and want to disable that. How can I do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAnyone know a way (or app) to stop the scrolling wallpaper? Even if I put a photo on my phone at the right resolution for the screen, it makes me crop it to fit the phone for home screen scrolling. Sometimes I like that, but sometimes I just want the apps/widgets to pull over without the picture moving.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot a nexus one and on it is Android 2.1 I believe?I plug my car's headphone style cable into the phone all the time to listen to internet radio and even the internal mp3's on it every once in a while. The problem is the phone's music player starts all the time on its own and plays random music OVER whatever internet radio app I may be using. Its so annoying and I can't figure out how to make it stop.Out of no where listening to iHeartRadio, or DroidLive, the Mp3 native music players starts and plays.I've read people saying use the drop down (notification) to go into the app, and hit pause, then the phone's back button to get out and that that particular order will stop it.Even if its instructions on how to delete the native music app and a suggestion for another 3rd party music app anything just HAVE to get rid of this auto play thing.

I'm probably being really stupid but I can't find the setting anywhere!
My Nexus 5 has been great but many of the widgets freeze regularly especially any with a clock or weather. I've did re-installs on them and it continues to happen. The clock and/or weather will update for a while and then after a few hours will freeze in time. I have everything stock still but did try a few custom launchers including nova & apex to see if it occurred with them as well and it did so I went back to stock. I did a hard reset and they began working for a few days then back to the same issue today. I've tried everything I can think of. The problem is consistent and with every widget no matter the developer. Those for sure affected are HD Widgets, Beautiful Widgets, PolyClock (a world clock), and RetroClock. I'm assuming this is a kitkat compatibility issue but do not know for sure.
I also have a Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10. The 7 hasn't been affected at all but the 10 has it intermittently. All 3 devices have updated to 4.4.2
This is very annoying as widgets are one of the primary thing that sets Android apart from iOS for me.
As Nexus One is the only model which has already "partly" updated to Froyo,Before Froyo, if I wanna enable/disable mobile data usage, I used a passive way, changing the APN server setting, to fool the system so it couldn't connect. In Froyo, there is a new option under Setings -> Wireless & Network Settings -> Mobile Networks called Data enabled/disabled, which is a much direct approach than changing the APN.But up to today, I've yet to see a widget which targets at this option. Currently I hv made a 3G shortcut to that setting page on to my home screen. Really hope there will be a toggle widget instead! So how do u guys enable/disable data usage at the moment without a handy widget on Froyo?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm just being stupid and overlooking a simple setting, but I'm pretty sure on my old HTC Hero there was an option in the settings to always load web pages in either mobile form, or the full web page (classic). Is this something that I can do in the settings on the Nexus one, because I do find it a little annoying having to regularly reload pages in "classic" view?

What I really want to do is use the Pandora app, but I can't because the music player (no matter which is loaded) wants to start, and no matter how many times I shut it down with app killer, it fires back up again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo the phone was working fine for a few days. All calls were clear, however today when I got home and made a call the call was not clear and had a background noise that sounds like a shower or white nose. All subsequent calls I make have this background noise and I tried rebooting the phone, putting my sim card in another phone (call was clear on other phone), and tried factory resetting the nexus. The noise still persists.
I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem and what you would suggest I do.
I just got my phone and the battery might still be stabilizing, and of course I'm fiddling with it a lot and I've installed heaps of apps, but I can't quite work out something. I unplugged my phone at midnight and this morning found my phone at 70% charge. I also got a message from my provider that I'd used up all my data. I checked and found that my phone had used up (sent+received) 30MB overnight. Google Maps was the biggest culprit - it received 700K but it sent almost 8MB. This is while the phone was sitting on my bedside table! And of course, as I'm driving to work (not using the phone at all), Google Maps was transmitting my location information back to it's servers so that the traffic flow is updated on their systems.
That's cool, but there doesn't appear to be any way to disable or turn off this in GM's configuration, or even exit the app. It seems that having My Location services enabled gives Google Maps (and I'm sure other apps like weather, gmail, Contacts, etc.) free reign to send and transmit data all the time. I don't want to have to disable My Location services completely; I want finer control over things on a per-app basis. Having Google Maps transmit 8MB overnight might not seem like a lot, but when the phone is idle, it disables wireless (to save battery) and thus all data is going through 2G/3G and I'm incurring data charges.
Wouldn't it be cool if I could tell my phone to switch wifi on and switch 3g reception off when it senses that I am at work or home based on my gps coordinates and then reverse that when I'm on the road i.e. not at those coordinates I set. Is there an app that does this?
