When I finally got home to check the thread they were asking why I wasn't responding. Any tips on how to resolve long email threads not being retrievable?

The long-running step is, for example, the first call to Cursor.moveToFirst(). This can sometimes take up to 30 seconds so I would like the user to be able to cancel.
However, how should this be done? I've tried closing the Cursor (in another thread) but all that happens is that the close() call takes as long as moveToFirst() and then terminates with the exception:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: attempt to acquire a reference on a close SQLiteClosable

Here is the short version of the story:Stock EPE54B N1 -> Unlocked Bootloader -> Root -> Cyanogenmod 5.0.6 -> WTF?! STOP REBOOTING -> Stock EPE54B -> WTF!? STOP REBOOTING -> ?I have reinstalled the stock image, Froyo, Cyanogenmod, I've had to pull the battery numerous times because booting would often freeze at the X.There were points where it would just boot up, get to the lock screen, reboot, do this several times.I'm about ready to go back to the iPhone now. Unfortunately, I didn't stick around long enough in stock before installing Cyanogenmod to see if that is the cause of all my problems.another thing I thought about, is that I've had to pull the battery so many times that maybe I need to something equivalent to "fsck" on my phone.I haven't seen many people have so many issues with reboots as me, so maybe the phone itself is bad, but I have no idea how to check.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 5 has been great but many of the widgets freeze regularly especially any with a clock or weather. I've did re-installs on them and it continues to happen. The clock and/or weather will update for a while and then after a few hours will freeze in time. I have everything stock still but did try a few custom launchers including nova & apex to see if it occurred with them as well and it did so I went back to stock. I did a hard reset and they began working for a few days then back to the same issue today. I've tried everything I can think of. The problem is consistent and with every widget no matter the developer. Those for sure affected are HD Widgets, Beautiful Widgets, PolyClock (a world clock), and RetroClock. I'm assuming this is a kitkat compatibility issue but do not know for sure.
I also have a Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10. The 7 hasn't been affected at all but the 10 has it intermittently. All 3 devices have updated to 4.4.2
This is very annoying as widgets are one of the primary thing that sets Android apart from iOS for me.
I'm just being stupid and overlooking a simple setting, but I'm pretty sure on my old HTC Hero there was an option in the settings to always load web pages in either mobile form, or the full web page (classic). Is this something that I can do in the settings on the Nexus one, because I do find it a little annoying having to regularly reload pages in "classic" view?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with android on my nexus one. The music player starts automatically when I plug it into my home receiver to play thru the aux input. What I really want to do is use the Pandora app, but I can't because the music player (no matter which is loaded) wants to start, and no matter how many times I shut it down with app killer, it fires back up again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo the phone was working fine for a few days. All calls were clear, however today when I got home and made a call the call was not clear and had a background noise that sounds like a shower or white nose. All subsequent calls I make have this background noise and I tried rebooting the phone, putting my sim card in another phone (call was clear on other phone), and tried factory resetting the nexus. The noise still persists.
I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem and what you would suggest I do.
I'm sure it's something simple, but my mobile Google browser home page has stopped working, I just get a white screen now. I've tried clearing my cache, but it didn't help.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android and have the Nexus 4. I have a question about a music timer. I'm playing/streaming my music through Google Play Music. Is there a way to make it stop playing after a set amount of time, say 1 hour? I can't find a way to make it do that. I bought automate it pro but setting up the rules didn't quite work like I thought.

I bought the car dock and I do not like it. I wish you could just set the phone in the car dock and have it charge without plugging in the charging cable separately. Would it be possible to use the multimedia dock as a car dock? It seems like the only difference is the polarity of the magnet. Can that easily be reversed (cut out and turned around)? I already have an adapter to plug the USB cable into. 3M makes a great double-sided automobile tape that would hold the dock to the dashboard. Anyone with a multimedia dock willing to try it out and report back?

I love the multimedia dock except for one thing, it's too bright at night. The light bulb icon does make dimmer and more relaxed, but the buttons on the bottom of the phone are lit up to full brightness. Anyone know of any apps or options within the phone's software that allows me to turn off the buttons?
Also, anyone have any app recommendations for setting notifications? I'd like my phone to ring at night only when it's in its cradle. Right now, to keep it from chirping with every email, I have to set it to silent, which also turns the phone ringer off.
I have not seen anyone mention anything about this.... What I am looking for is another way to add new widgets to the multimedia dock. Specifically, I have "Beautiful Widgets" installed, with the nice "Silent Widget" on my home, but I would like that to be a widget on my "Multimedia Home". Is there a way around this, or does someone actually have to create widgets specifically for that screen?

I am guessing I might somehow have a bad version of the multimedia dock widget.. but cant seem to find a way to locate it to perhaps reinstall?
I got my Droid at the beginning of July and I really liked the idea behind the multimedia dock, but I thought $30 was a lot for something that did so little. Once I found out that media mode could be accessed with a magnet, I started looking at other people's designs for home-made docks. I used Crayola Air-Dry clay to hold the plug in place as well as make the phone fit perfectly. I wanted to be able to drop my phone into the dock quickly, it looked like other designs require you to plug in the phone, then set it in the dock.
