Nexus :: Bad For Battery To Leave N1 In Desktop Dock All Day?
Apr 15, 2010
Is it bad for my battery to leave my N1 in the desktop dock throughout the work day? I leave the dock next to my monitors in the office and basically just leave the N1 in the dock while I'm at work (8:30am to about 6:30pm M-F). Is this bad for the battery or no big deal?

Is it safe to leave my phone plugged in to the dock all night? While I'm at it, is it cool to leave the aux cable from my speakers in too?

Looking for a motoDROID protective case that is compatible with the multimedia desktop dock / charging station. Some reviews I've read indicate that the DROID won't seat properly in the dock with case XYZ installed.

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this. I have the car dock which is nice rotates 360 but the phone home screen does not rotate, only certain screens rotate. It would be nice if the contacts screen would rotate also when the phone does. Also would be nice if it would rotate 360 not just one way 90 degrees.

Figuring out how to have tasks sync between the N1 and my desktop is one of my main barriers to replacing my BlackBerry with the N1. gTasks seems good, but as far as I can tell, Google Tasks (and, presumably, gTasks) doesn't allow due dates with time and reminders. Am I missing something?

I have the N1's dock connected to a pair of M-AUDIO AV-20 speakers and the sound quality is less than enjoyable. The question is, does the phone get connect to the dock through bluetooth? I would expect a much better audio quality from ANY Dock.

I just got my N1 car dock and i want to put it on my dashboard. Problem is its not smooth enough for the suction - so i "need" to use the included adhesive pad/disc to properly secure it..
I'm worried about this because: It's a brand new EVO that i paid a lot for - i do not want to mess up my dash.. So:
1) Is the adhesive disc removable?
2) Can it be removed and not leave and residue?
3) If it does leave residue can it be removed easy?
4) What is the possibility of it stripping off any paint on the dash?

Recently I got my Nexus S water damaged and they refused to accept warranty repair due to the water damage they found. Now it works partially, it boots, but the screen image does not show. The touch works, for example I am able to go blindly to the camera and take some photos and I know it works because it makes the shutter sound.
Due to the water damage the phone originally got into download mode only, the internal ROM was wiped out and I had to flash a new ROM and Recovery etc. with Odin. Now the phone is running stock factory image of ICS, and I need to figure out how to flash there something with debugging enabled, because the recovery doesn't work too.
The question is, is there a way to get some kind of remote desktop working over USB without doing anything on the screen? I'd like to be able to set up the phone as an AirPlay receiver at least.

When my phone is on the dock and I receive an incoming call there is no sound, either through the stereo speakers or from the phone. The only notification there's an incoming call is the trackball lighting up. Obviously this could lead to missed calls. Is there a setting i'm missing so that I can actually get an audio notification of incoming calls when on the dock?

Looking forward to finally getting an Android phone. My wife and I have been waiting for this or the Nexus to come to VZW.
I was wondering if there is a nightstand/alarm clock dock available for this like there is on the Nexus. My wife really wants that since she saw it for the Nexus, but I haven't seen one anywhere for the Incredible.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been covered already. I didn't see any mention of it.

I have a G1, love it, but it has a wimpy battery as many of us know. I have been wondering if widgets, desktop icons and even the choice of wallpaper, or picture that is used for the desktop background make any real difference in battery life. No matter how I use the phone, the display is always the main or at least major component of battery usage.
I read on an android website that desktop widgets do tax the battery and it was also suggested that having all three desktops full of icons also does so. Lastly, I was thinking that a black desktop ( I took a picture of a piece of black paper ) would use the least battery because the screen is not producing any light. Any input on these things ? If it would give appreciably better battery life, I would black out the desktops as I have done and not have any icons or widgets.

Just noticed in this pic: http://www.softsailor.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/HTC-Desire-Silver-04.jpg
That the Desire seems to have dock connectors on the bottom like the N1. Anyone now anything about this for sure? Will it fit the N1 dock?

Anyone know what could be the cause of my battery dying while I'm asleep at night? I don't put it on the charger at night if the battery is above 20% and the last couple nights my battery will be near 30% and when I wake up in the morning it's dead?! My feeds are set to update 12 hours apart which is usually around 7am, and I thought it was the auto task killer but I shut that off. The only thing I can think of is my alarm?! But really?

Hope this hasn't been asked already, but here goes. When I had my G1 occasionally i would find a few apps running in the background needlessly, and would close them down. With the Nexus One every time i check, there is at least 15-20 apps running that dont need to be. Is there a way to minimize this to conserve battery?

Just got my Nexus One yesterday, and I'm loving it! My only concern is the battery life meter is telling CELL STANDBY 67%?? When you click on it, it says time without signal 50% and then it says thats whats causing battery consumption.
Before I go on, I have no issues with 3G, been getting a solid signal since I got the phone yesterday, just a little confused on what to do? Shouldn't standby SAVE battery?

Just switched over to a Nexus One from my iPhone 3GS (been an iPhone faithful since they came out,but wanted to see what was happening with Android).I love my Nexus One, but the battery life is horrible. From a full charge, hours later, I'll be at 75% having barely used the phone at all. If I leave it for a day, it's almost dead entirely.I've gone through settings, turned off the automatic syncs, don't have push turned on, brightness is down, location is off, wifi is off.can't figure out what's going on.Sometimes when I pick the phone up after leaving it for a while, it feels warm, as if it's doing something.I've re-started many times,I have a task manager, and I kill every task often.still, awful battery. For what it's worth, the phone takes forever to charge as well. It charges about 10% every hour.Seems like something is wrong, no?

I hope you can help me out by chiming in on this. I've been using my phone a bit, and it looks like my battery goes down by about 10-12% for every 15 minutes I'm on a call. Is this normal? It seems like my battery isn't lasting anywhere near as long as it should. Extrapolating those figures out, you'd be looking at 150 minutes (2h 30m) of call time per charge - way below the quoted time (7h on 3G). Additionally, I seem to be able to lose about 10% of my battery just browsing the web for 10 minutes over 3G. I have GPS off, but WiFi and sync on.Are you all getting significantly better than this?

if HTC Incredible/Nexus batteries are compatible with the Desire? I think i've seen some mention of people using Nexus batteries and as long as it's the standard capacity it should fit right? Whilst I doubt the capacity is as good as the official HTC ones you can get a charger and two 1400mah batteries on eBay for the price of a single Desire battery here..
