Aug 6, 2010So what are tge top killers of the battery? I know the obvious one is the screen. What else drains a huge amount of energy? Do things like multiple news feed widgets drain a lot of energy? I heard leaving GPS on absolutely wrecks your battery life as well.

Mar 23, 2010This is kind of a detailed question, but basically, I have been reading through some threads and came across someone who wrote that keeping the wifi turned on to 'never sleep' optimizes your battery life by a lot (instead of using mobile connection). So I set this up, but I also have the app Advanced Task Killer and I am trying to figure out if I need to set the wifi to the ignore list (so that it doesn't get killed everytime) or if Advanced Task Killer doesn't effect this.I am just trying to optimize my battery so I can actually use the internet without it dying on me so quickly. I charged it all night and literally 5 minutes after I unplugged it, my phone was down to 90% life.

Sep 13, 2010So I am on my 2nd kernel now other than stock. I tried netarchy .18 and currently using kings 9 bfs. I am running stock rooted froyo. The stock kernel gave me the best battery,both netarchy and kings kernels have given better performance. Is there a best of both worlds, i.e. a kernel that gives better performance over stock AND better battery life? With the netarchy kernel I used 25 percent of my battery in 2 hours from a full charge. So far with kings I have used 10 percent in 30 minutes from full charge! This compared to stock which was 90 percent over 20 hours. Any ideas or suggestions?

Jul 27, 2010So I got the ADW.Launcher and I'm finding it to be FANTASTIC, much better than Sense and Launcher Pro IMO. I FINALLY got skype and it's amazing too. The big thing those it that I finally threw some widgets onto my desktop - namely You Tube, Google Search, and the Power Control thing. The power control is really nifty and makes it so easy to control blue tooth, wifi, gps. Are these going to kill my battery life? I don't' use live wallpapers and I make sure I don't have a ton of apps running in the background.

Jun 11, 2010The battery life is not too good.But it's tiny after all.I was looking at getting an extra battery.This one: "Seidio Innocell 1750mAh Extended Battery for Verizon HTC Droid Eris" at HTC Depot is $49.95.On eBay,I can get 2 batteries and a wall charger for around $11.But I have a case for the phone and it looks like opening it up every day to change batteries would wear it out very quickly.Does anyone know of an external battery with a (short) cord to the USB/charge port?That could be 4 times the size of an internal battery and still fit in my pocket.

Jul 19, 2010I have had this phone for a little over 4 days now and it is by far the best smart phone on battery life that I have ever owned. Yesterday was the best day yet, I pulled the phone off the charger at 7am yesterday and forgot to put it back on the charger before I crashed out last night. This morn I was woken up to its alarm clock, got ready, headed out to work and the last 20% warning ding'd at 6:45 this morning. My use through out the day consisted of a few short phone calls, the wifi was on all day, I played an hours worth of home run derby, I watched a few you tube videos, surfed a little net, and I have all my accounts synced up to the Motorola widgets (facebook, myspace, yahoo, hotmail, google, and twitter). I also have a live wallpaper running, lots of widgets on my home screens, and I am running the automatic battery profile ( default factory setting). Oh and my phone service is not that great at my house. In the end I my battery never hit the "red" and was a little over 24 hours of battery life before I put it on the charger. I have read threads about poor battery performance and I cant imagine why my battery performance is so good, and with such a huge screen. With that amount of use, I would only get about 12 hours of battery life from my Droid 1.

Two interesting things:
1. There are dock settings now (Audio settings greyed out & docking sound)
2. I'm not opposed to the new look - however, is there any way to keep it on screen? The stupid green screen saver appears after a while, and I can't read it at night (yes I'm blind - but that's why I like the old Motorola one so much)
Motorola Droid :: Phone Service / Battery Life
Dec 11, 2009like many of you I updated to 2.0.1 with promises of better battery life. After one full day of use I can see now that my battery life isn't improved as much as the phone allocates battery usage stats to different areas other than display. Yesterday my battery actually died BEFORE it usually does (this is post update mind you) and the usage stats told me that I used it mostly on Phone signal (keeping my phone service active when im in the subway). So it said to turn off the phone signal when you're in an area that can't get a signal to save battery life. Well..sounds like a plan, right? What about for those of us that use a bluetooth headset for music? I can't turn off my phone service without also turning off my bluetooth via "Airplane Mode." Does anyone know of a way to turn one off without the other. My motorola Q could do it...please tell me my big bad droid can do it too...

I noticed that about after 15 minutes the phone would no longer be actively charging (the lightning bolt icon in the battery was not displaying). Within two hours the battery was depleted. I am pretty efficient on my X not really used to the HTC sense (last HTC phone i had was the Eris). Any tips to help him get better battery life? I normally get a day and a half, as much as two days between charges. Where he has to keep a charger at work?

May 1, 2010Three Droids in the family, had for approx 1 month, with no real battery problems other than drain with GPS use. Battery usage extremely predictable. Until yesterday. Day before yesterday, wife's phone reported battery charge of ~30% after being on media dock charger all night. Figured it was a connection glitch of some kind. Happened again today, then while I was looking at the phone, battery went from ~20% to 100%. Now seemed more like a status reading problem. Picked up my phone from its media dock - a different one - and surprise surprise, it too was reading ~30% after being on dock charging all night.
(Yes, we have power and the docks are plugged in.) Powering down phone doesn't reset status, still reads ~30%.

Don't worry, I'll still be getting another My battery life hasn't been as great as everybody mentioned, my phone suffers from random reboots (nothing helped, i tried it all), and now I noticed my camera has 4 stuck pixels. Not so bad in Camera mode, but a lot more prominent in Camcorder mode. So how should I do it? I purchased it in store at a VZW. So am I restricted just to that, or can I call VZW? Which route would be better? Anything I should know about beforehand?

May 29, 2010I always see people on this forum talking about having their phones rooted with the processor overclocked to 1+ ghz. The droid battery already has trouble lasting a day, how does overclocking not kill the battery extremely quickly?

Motorola Droid X :: Weather Can Kill Battery?
Jul 29, 2010Was doing fine until rain was coming, then battery dropped big time. Charged last night before bedtime, didn't use my phone all day and checked a little bit ago and was down to 50%. Normally I'd be at 80-90% under similar circumstances.
Here's the confusing part (Battery use):
42m 36s since unplugged.
Display: 67%
Cell standby: 26%
Phone idle: 8%
EDIT: BTW, this is LIVE weather.

Aug 22, 2010So Im using Chevy's SS 4.7 with his .8 ULV kernel and im getting like 5 hour battery life... I checked Usage and number one is Drroid OS with like 28% and then display with 18%. Can the kernel kill battery that much or should i just do a wipe and start all over?

- I'm running the "Battery Left" widget and I have it displaying "estimated percentage left", "system percentage", and "estimated time left until dead".
- I listen to A LOT of Slacker Radio.
My issues:
- I was previously getting about 19+ hours out of a fully charged battery. 2-3 days ago I started having issues with the widget (I think it may have started when I installed an update to the widget) so I recalibrated it to no avail. Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Within a few hours it claimed that it was getting accurate readings (when I first installed the widget weeks ago, it took days to get accurate) and now says that I should be getting 9 hours out of a fully charged battery. I know that can't be right so I'll see how the widget adjusts itself over the next few days, but, any thoughts? (I know a lot of you guys use the same widget and know how it works...)
- Also, In the first two hours of my phone being unplugged this morning, it went from 100% to 70%. I did run Slacker for about an hour and a half of that time, but could it really drain the battery that much that quickly? And I noticed that when I close Slacker, if I go into phone settings, applications, running services - there's still a Slacker update thing running in there. Could that be draining the battery too, even if it's only checking for updates?
- I really don't run a lot of stuff on this phone. I keep wifi and gps turned off. I use bluetooth only a few hours each night. Minimal web browsing. Although, my POP email gets checked every 5 mins (but I just changed it to every 10) and I do use gchat and text a decent amount, but I'd say overall, it's "light" use (except for Slacker which could be a huge drain, right?)

Sep 27, 2010I have a Motorola Droid, the original.I got this phone back in May or June, my battery life has always been normal, i.e. 12+ hours on normal use throughout the day.I have a non-OEM charger, I have since I got the phone, and it has never affected the phone or the battery life. Recently in the past few weeks I've noticed that my phone's battery has been draining much more frequently, i'm now getting 8+ hours on normal use. Also I have noticed when I plug my phone in to the charger it says it's charging, but when I wake up it's only at 50-60% and I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to go to full 100%. I've been trying to research why it is doing this, but i'm coming up with no answers.
