Nexus :: 2.1 To 2.2 Manual Install From A Weird Build / Unable To Get Started?

Jul 26, 2010

I noticed that in order to update your nexus one you need to either use OTA updates or download that zip archive, drop into sd card and boot in recovery mode but they have not worked for me.

The thing is, i have a weird build number and i think thats why it wont let me update it.
passion-userdebug 2.1 ERD72 22132 test-keys
Thats what i got, and i cant update it normally. Anyone know where i cant get started?

inb4 use search function, used it, nothing related to updating from my build, ive searched other forums too, nada...

HTC Incredible :: Update After Manual 2.2 Install?

Sep 17, 2010

I promise i searched, but from my phone it's a bit limited. I manually updated to 2.2 at the end of August. However, earlier this week, I got the following message from Verizon. Should I pursue it, or will it brick my phone? If I don't do this, I'll likely hard reset my phone. I've been having a few hicups lately. Nothing to write home about, but still annoying. I've read that some suggest a hard reset after updating due to similar situations.

Motorola Droid :: Battery Only Lasts 6-7 Hours From Full Charge After Manual 2.2 Install

Aug 14, 2010

I manually installed the FRG01B update yesterday. And since doing so, I have noticed a ridiculously steep drop in battery life. Do I need to be running FRG22? Is that available to download manually, if so? I also know that I don't have the version of Facebook that was causing battery drainage. ATK didn't seem to help at all (it might have even made it worse). Is there anything I can do to vastly improve battery life? It would be great if I could get the phone's battery to last at least 24 hours. I already uninstalled ATK, by the way.

Can Build OS And Install It Without Android

I'm tired of Android's slow user interface. I'd like to eventually code something better and faster... possibly in C++ using X Windows..I just need to build and install Linux from sources... including the drivers.

I of course want to leave out anything Java related including the GUI.Is that even possible with the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer (TF101-A1?

Nexus :: Want To Flash To Newest Build Cause Of Stability

Jun 30, 2010

First of all i'm quite a n00b when it comes to rooting and everything, however back in feb when i got mt ATT n1 I decided to root cause of the cool apps that wouldnt run on non-rooted phones.I followed a step by step guide with success. Then the early 2.2 build came out and I loaded it with CM updater and it worked fine. However apps crash often and the phone seems sluggish. I want to flash to the newest release... thing is I don't know where to start.I don't mind loosing all the apps and contacts since I have everything backed up. I just want a completely clean 2.2 flash.Any idea of where to start? I saw the thread that talked about upgrading but since i'm already on 2.2 I dont know what to do.

General :: How To Use Nexus Binaries To Build From Source

Jan 2, 2013

I want to build AOSP from sources. Specifically on the Nexus 10.

I downloaded the proprietary binaries from the Nexus Binary Download page. [URL] .....

I followed instructions how to set up the source code and build it but i am not too sure how to correctly extract the proprietary binaries. [URL] .....

I used the self-extracting shell scripts to extract the binaries in the root of the directory i executed "repo sync" in. (in my case: WORKING_DIRECTORY)

The binaries were put to "WORKING_DIRECTORY/vendor"

My question is whether i did it correctly and whether the binaries will be included in the build when i hit "make".

General :: PMID10c - Unable To Build New Boot IMG File?

Oct 9, 2013

I am looking to compile a new kernel for this device. I have pulled off the boot.img file from /dev/block/nandc and used split_bootimg.pl to pull apart the kernel and the boot ramdisk. I have used extract-ikconfig to get the kernel config and built my new 3.4 kernel (with modules). So far so good...

I have tried to build the new boot.img file with no avail. My concern is with the original kernel as the new one should be build the same (I think). It looks like it is not compressed as I run the command

file boot.img-kernel

It returns

boot.img-kernel: data

So it is not a Linux kernel ARM boot executable zImage

Is this correct? Can Android boot with this or is the split_bootimg.pl tool not creating the file correctly (it does pull the ramdisk as I have uncompressed it fine! and the file does contain the kernel config)

Ok So assuming I can create a proper boot.img with my built zImage and the old ramdisk, what do I need to do with the modules? Do I update the boot.img on the tablet and copy the modules over to the existing /system/lib/modules? (this appears to not work)

Nexus :: Upgrading To Latest Froyo Build - Verification Failed

Jul 4, 2010

I just bought a rooted Nexus One with a FRF83 build preinstalled. It's been working great but I keep getting messages about installing OTA updates but they always fail (says E: No signature (575 files) E: Verification Failed) I tried manually downloading the FRF85 and FRF91 update, copying as update.zip to my SD updating from the recovery menu but it still gives the same error. From the little info I've found online it may be an issue with the ROM but I can't tell for sure. My ultimate goal would be to go back to stock Android with the latest official Froyo build.
