I want to back up all the free and paid apps in my Moto Droid, but can't seem to find where they're located using Astro. Are they in the phone memory? On the SD card? Regardless, I can't find any of them.

I just downloaded the Handcent SMS app and really like it. However now when I get an incoming message, I get two quick notification alerts back to back. is there a way to get it back to just one notification alert while keeping Handcent?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased some additional microUSB cables for use with my Droid at work and home so I'm not carrying one around all the time. I've found that the third party cables will not charge the Droid when plugged into the AC plug. The cable supplied by Motorola works fine, so I know it's not the AC plug. The cables do work as data connections when plugged into my laptop. Did I just buy crappy cables, or is there something special about the Moto cable?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've noticed some odd behavior when using a wall charger for an Amazon Kindle 2. The moment I plug in the charger it's as if there are fifty phantom fingers touching the screen repeatedly. I've heard others report similar behavior with various other non-moto chargers.the Kindle charger charges the Droid just fine, as does my Blackberry charger that I use at work. I just plug them in and immediately turn the screen off. I've been using those for 2 weeks and haven't noticed any ill effects as long as I turn the screen off immediately after plugging in the charger.At first I thought that any standard USB micro charger with the proper voltage should work without any issues. That is obviously not the case, but it leaves me wondering what causes the odd screen behavior. Are some chargers just not shielded properly? Is it EM interference activating the touchscreen? Or is the moto charger just special somehow? Maybe some EE type out there can figure out or explain what the deal is with this.

All my contacts have safely come down from Google and appear to all be there and fine, however my third-party apps aren't seeing them. If I start a text message in "Messaging", it reads the contacts and offers me choices. But if I do the same in "Handsent", my messaging app of choice, it does not. Likewise, "Gmail" sees the email addresses in my contacts fine, whereas my regular email app, K9, does not.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago when I booted my phone everything forced closed while the desktop loaded up (phone, gps, settings, etc...) and nothing worked except third party apps (thank god.) Well I rebooted and everything worked fine after that... Fast forward to today and it started happening again except this time no matter what I did nothing would work. I even dropped the phone off with a Sprint service center (my device is a Sprint Hero) and they just ordered me a new phone because nothing they did worked. After I left Sprint I went out to eat and while eating I kept messing with my phone more and more until I admitted defeat and started backing up all my apps with Astro . Welllll apparently somewhere along the way I got this effing awesome idea to uninstall via Astro all the applications I've downloaded in the last week and freaking bam; phone works again. Here's a list of applications I deleted and I've starred the ones.

The starred ones raise more flags as I downloaded them before any of the others but not knowing which did this I figured I'd put all that I uninstalled to fix my phone.
Yes, I did un-check auto-sync on setting, it works on gmail app, but not on mail app.
How can I set mail app to sync manually? I mean not notification, but actual email app. I want to check my emails when I actually open email app. I don't want mail app check my emails for me.
I did find to turn notifications off, but thats not what I want.
or are there any 3rd party apps that let me do that?
I had some apps on my htc tattoo that i installed to my htc through my computer (htc sync), but when i uninstalled them, i didnt have all of the memory i had before i installed it, so is there another way to uninstall these apps so i can get back the memory i had before the installation??

I have a Sprint HTC One. I recently flashed a new ROM. VENOM 5.0 which supports my PDA.
So, after installing it I downloaded all the required apps and they worked fine.
Later the next morning when I switched on my data connection, all the apps ran on data and everything went on well. Then I installed Root Firewall PRO and set all my required settings, after that none of the third party apps didn't receive any data connection. Neither Whatsapp nor Facebook Messenger received data. Even though they are only messaging apps, they also did not receive any Data Connection.
I've noticed something since I updated my phone to kitkat 4.4.2 (it's a Z1 compact).
Whenever I use another app than my default app to send SMS, eg. I'm using SMSPopup, Glowfly or event another "real" SMS app along with my default one (let's say hangouts or Handcent), I have duplicate sent SMS, that means I have twice my sent messages in my list. I didn't have this issue on JB.
I tried to tweak access/read/write permissions via AppOps but the result is still the same. I now have to use the same app for popups/Notifications and SMS. Other SMS apps are useless because they duplicate the text messages.
I've got an application, and I'd like to publish a way for third-party services to get data from it. Ideally I could expose this through intents, as in the following pseudocode:
