View 4 RepliesI am new to texting and wanted to know if it is possible to setup a group text on the android? I am a coach of a soccer team and would like to send out a text message to each member of the team but only do it once rather than send each person one. As I mentioned before I do not use texting often so I am not sure if I can do this.

Now theres some interesting groupchat apps out there. I was looking into using BrightKite... My classmates use it during boring lectures in gradschool. But the problem with BrightKite is that Empty (that is his nickname) does not have free texting to any carrier but verizon, and BrightKite's groupchat # is not verizon. I am in a similar situation, but since I have an android phone I can access the groupchat via that and I don't need to use up my texts.............
I am using the stock texting option and have a group set up. This weekend I sent out a group text and several of them went to the email addresses. I think this is because the ?primary? contact is the phone then the email address. Before the update all texts would go to the proper number so the people would get the texts. Does anybody know how to change the ?primary? contact? I hate to think this is just another thing that 2.1 added (or took away) to make this phone??.well less that I expect at this point.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the contacts set up in my starred groups already but can't figure out how to text the contacts in a specific group (e.g. Family, CoWorkers, Friends) from my stock messenger. I can do it using the handcent app and although I have the notification setting off on the stock messenger the message still makes its way to the stock messenger and handcent which I believe would take up twice as much memory on my phone causing it to lagg. if I am wrong in assuming this and what I can do to fix this whether it be the correct way in sending a message to a group or deleting the stock messaging app, etc...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a group that I text to, a sports team, but two of my contacts in the group don't get my messages. They bounce back to me because they are sending to their land phones! Obviously there are multiple phone numbers for these contacts, and the first time this happened I went into the contacts to set the mobile number as default - but that makes no difference. Google Android still tries to send them to the landlines! My phone uses ICS.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm finally going to make the jump over to android from winmo this week after years of loyalty but the one thing that could sway my decision is the ability to do t9 texting. yeah i know there are all these new fangled ways to text like swype but imo nothing beats the simplicity of a 9 button predictive layout I played with my brother's incredible which had it but i'm unsure if that was an HTC thing or not. So are all android keyboards the same with the same option and if not does anyone know if the X will have t9 text?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe vibrate feature for my text and email alerts no longer functions. It is just completely silent (ringer is off, but phone is set to vibrate, not silent). I have the setting for Also Vibrate on Notification checked so my setting are right, it seems. The vibration works for incoming calls, but not my alerts... I did have locale installed which is the only app I can imagine messing with it. I have uninstalled Locale but the problem persists.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have had a slider phone for years and could text super fast. Then I switched to an Eris where I had the option of using the qwerty keyboard on landscape OR I could hold it upright and use the numeric keyboard with T9 like I did on my slider. I always held it upright and was very happy. I was having reception issues with my eris so I traded it for a Moto Droid. Is there an option for the numeric type of keyboard becuase it takes me friggin forever to type a text.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i have my contacts in my phone, fine and dandy, when i first got my phone i accidently synched facebook contacts with my phone, meaning every person on my facebook with a phone # on their fb was imported into my phone, you know as well as i do, 90% of our fb friends arent phone contact friends, so i unsynched fb..now the issue im having is this. If i go into messaging, and in the To: feild i start to type a persons name in my contact to text them, for some people it doesnt show up, altho if u go into my contacts their name is clearly there. The other issue, is when i start to type names, it still brings up peoples names and numbers from FB altho their contact isnt saved in my phone..so everytime i wanna text someone i hasve to goto contacts, find them, clickhold and select text contact..kind of annoying for mass texts ect....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI think I read it on here a while back, but can't find the post, about setting up an autoreply for texting. Something along the lines of "I am currently driving and cannot read nor respond to your message," that you turn on and off like an email "Out of Office" reply. Anyone know if there is an app that does this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I first set up my phone, I synced my Google contacts (from 2 accounts). I have since cleaned up my contacts, no longer syncing the Google contacts ... I only have my phone contacts. After cleaning things up, I still have 2 empty "Google" contact groups. My question: Is it possible to remove a contact group? I haven't found a way to do it and I have had no luck searching here or on the rest of the internet. I just want to clear up the clutter. I think it's silly to have 2 empty contact groups.

i also have wifi and gps on all the time, settings for brightness is automatic. cpu set 550min to 880max. and have juicy defender free running. also tons of widgets "about 3 screens full of widgets. and lookout defender/set cpu/ nimbuzz/ battery status running in the notification bar. to me it looks like its fine, but what i noticed after really looking at the plot is the battery power drops 10% almost every 30 minutes during heavy use. and a hour between 10% drops and its almost on the dot to.
With low use - screen at almost 0, pandora for less an hour, browsing for less then an hour and some mild txting/emailing, my phones about to die. I rarely get 8 hours of use like this. Screen times out at 15 seconds, all GPS, WiFi and BT off......all the tricks and tips.
I am thinking of exchangin it, but i really dont want to have to re-install all my apps and widgets, input all my contacts and re-set everything up like I have it. ive had the phone since day 1, and have spent a ton of time tweaking it how i like it.
Is this info stored on the SD card so it can be easily swapped over to the new phone?
Any spell check apps for texting, email and Facebooking? I suck at spelling..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a group on gmail called coworkers. I added many of the employees in my company as contacts. I am now running Launcher Pro as well for what that is worth. I found the option to check coworkers as a group, but I can't figure out how to associate or move the employee contacts under that group. What am I missing? Or am I going about this the wrong way entirely?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to sync only one specific Google contact group rather than getting everyone that happens to have a phone number from the generic "All Contacts" section? If I go into the standalone Contacts app the only contacts I see on the "Contacts: Google" list are the ones I want but when I go into the contacts in the phone app everyone and their grandparents are listed.
