I am new to texting and wanted to know if it is possible to setup a group text on the android? I am a coach of a soccer team and would like to send out a text message to each member of the team but only do it once rather than send each person one. As I mentioned before I do not use texting often so I am not sure if I can do this.

I have a group of 5 friends whom are trying to stay in contact with each other. Heres the situation:

Android
Free Texting to Verizon
Carrier: Verizon
Dara
Android
Unlimited Texting
Carrier: Verizon
Spader.................
Now theres some interesting groupchat apps out there. I was looking into using BrightKite... My classmates use it during boring lectures in gradschool. But the problem with BrightKite is that Empty (that is his nickname) does not have free texting to any carrier but verizon, and BrightKite's groupchat # is not verizon. I am in a similar situation, but since I have an android phone I can access the groupchat via that and I don't need to use up my texts.............
I have a group that I text to, a sports team, but two of my contacts in the group don't get my messages. They bounce back to me because they are sending to their land phones! Obviously there are multiple phone numbers for these contacts, and the first time this happened I went into the contacts to set the mobile number as default - but that makes no difference. Google Android still tries to send them to the landlines! My phone uses ICS.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using the stock texting option and have a group set up. This weekend I sent out a group text and several of them went to the email addresses. I think this is because the ?primary? contact is the phone then the email address. Before the update all texts would go to the proper number so the people would get the texts. Does anybody know how to change the ?primary? contact? I hate to think this is just another thing that 2.1 added (or took away) to make this phone??.well less that I expect at this point.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the contacts set up in my starred groups already but can't figure out how to text the contacts in a specific group (e.g. Family, CoWorkers, Friends) from my stock messenger. I can do it using the handcent app and although I have the notification setting off on the stock messenger the message still makes its way to the stock messenger and handcent which I believe would take up twice as much memory on my phone causing it to lagg. if I am wrong in assuming this and what I can do to fix this whether it be the correct way in sending a message to a group or deleting the stock messaging app, etc...

I just got the phone 3 days ago. I installed juice defender and task killer, I'm not sure if it has any thing to do with that.

Has anyone been able to do this? i can setup indivdual short cuts but not a shortcut for a contact group. Am i doing something wrong? Also, is there a way to change the label on the direct message shortcut?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Gmail account works great, and I have my aol and yahoo acounts set up no problem (well the yahoo was a little problem but got it to work so thats all that matters). I have 2 other email accounts that no matter what I do I can not get them to work. One is my works email which is handled by a company called network solutions. I can get the incoming server setup fine but I can not get the outgoing to work. The other is my school email which is some sort of msn email account variation (username@email.itt-tech.edu which i log into through msn.com). I cant get anything to work for this accuont.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was able to successfully setup a POP account through the Setup Screen...in fact when I go back through Setup, I still see the account. The problem is I can't DO anything with it in setup (including deleting it to start over) and it doesn't show up in my Apps window with an icon! I see it on the setup screen labeled "Setup Accounts" but no matter if I tap it or hold it or swipe it or try to hit the menu key, it just sits there. There is a green button with the checkmark in it. I guess what I would think i ought to be able to do is to assign it an icon (or even get a generic one) and find the account listed on my app screen...I'm willing to reset it, but I can't even delete it to start!

I ask because a friend of mine just called from their work number saying their baby daddy just sent her a text message, she sent to someone else followed by a text asking how long she has been talking to him. LOLL I'm not on that type of stuff but dang that is funny to me. She said he hasn't installed anything on her phone cause she has her phone pattern locked (however you can see the pattern when you look at her phone). But I was wonder does anyone know of a program you can put on and Evo phone that would allow you to do this.

Verizon makes me buy a data plan, and if I want unlimited texting, its a different plan. So I end up paying for unlimited texting, AND data. If I can get away without spending the extra 20 a month and just using an app, I'd do that. Anyways, sorry if this question has been answered, I searched and didn't see anything.

I would love to be able to text from the phone dial screen using intutive text. This would make one handed texting possible like on my Krazer. I love this feature. Having to open the keyboard is a complete bummer. Even an onscreen keyboard wouldn't be as good in my opinion for texting.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running froyo (frf91) on a rooted N1 and am looking for an app that restricts who I can text when I'm drunk or drinking. I've done a fruitless search of the Market to no luck. If possible the specifics I'm looking for would be something like this:
Have a set list of people who I can text when the app is active.
Not allow other texts to people not on the list.
And I know this last one is a long shot, but a randomly generated password to take the app off that gets sent to my e-mail at a certain time.
Does anyone know of an app like this or one that sounds familiar?
Is there a texting app like Google Voice that allows you to receive unlimited texts with your current phone number? I essentially want to use only a data plan for texting and do not want to change my number.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a weird one. If I send a text on my Motorola Cliq XT, within my preset Advance Task Killer timeout (3 minutes I believe) the phone disconnects from the network and then the SIM needs to be unlocked.
Is there an App that should be running that I need to Add to the Ignore list? It only happens after texting.
