View 7 RepliesJust got a Droid X... coming from 3 years of horrible T-Mobile, so I'm excited to be on verizon finally! One problem though, and big because I text a lot - I notice my text messages are being delayed. They often come maybe 5 minutes later in groups of 3 or however many on in queue. It looks as if my phone is only checking periodically... how can I troubleshoot this? Perhaps it's a signal issue but I can still send texts and also receive calls.
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow do I set up a group to be used in a text message scenario? I tried adding people to organization and that wasn't it. I don't see any options to do so in the contacts properties, I do have 2 groups I just don't recall how they got there

Note: I did search before posting and came up empty handed so dont bash me if this has been asked before.
I'm looking to upgrade my phone. Aside from normal phone use my main goal is to get a phone that will send a text message to a very large group of people all at once. My current phone Samsung Epic 4g Touch will do this but i have to create the message and then from the address box go to the group and one by one touch in each member (almost 200 in the group). I have my groups already but i would like to just add the whole group all at once. I don't care about the responses being in the same thread or anything else, I just want to add the group all at once to the address box.
View 5 Replies View Relatedis there a way to mass text to people without people knowing its a mass text (aka see that isent to multiple contacts, etc)?
im on a galaxy s3 but i have heard that iphones can see multiple contacts if they receive a mass text and can even reply all. ouch!??
also, how do i make it so the mass text sends to each person individually in its own separate thread? ive sent to a few people at oncei n the past and all it did was create a single thread on my phone with all the contacts on it.
Any e-mail address in the world can send a text message. So why pay for a text plan when you already probably have data plan on your phone? Not sure how much unlimited texts is now but I have an old plan which is $10 dollars a month for unlimited Verizon to Verizon; with 500 texts out of network. So, if I cancel texts on my cell phone plan I can just use the "mail" application that comes with the phone. Use my gmail account and send out texts to numbers and tell my friends when sending me a text just type "username@gmail.com". This way I receive texts from other people through my e-mail and I can also reply back with an e-mail which would really be like a text. You can text from your computer and cell phone.Very useful encase you want to save money. I am thinking about canceling texts on my plan. Maybe you all already knew this. I knew I could send pictures to my phone years ago before I even had a smart phone but I just realized this again and thought about canceling my text plan. What do you guys think?
View 33 Replies View RelatedI updated my Nextheme 2.1 droid to the new Froyo (gonna check out Fabs newest in a few minutes here) but one thing I have noticed is that for some reason whenever my droid is connected to a computer it auto starts USB Mass storage. I cannot for the life of me find out where I go to stop this from auto connecting, sometimes I just plug my droid into the computer to charge while I am working. Normally when I want the USB storage enabled I use SD share widget.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was able to move a few files to my X from my computer earlier tonight, but I unplugged it from my computer to do something on the phone, and when I plugged it in later, the computer showed the phone storage (drive F) and SD card (drive G). However, I can't open the SD card, and when I go into the SD Card settings on the phone, it keeps going back and forth between Mount and Unmount. The stuff on the card is there and everything works fine when I'm not connected to the computer. But I can't move anything to my phone via USB since I can't get the computer to recognize the SD card. I also noticed that there's no option to format the SD card (well, it's there, but grayed out).
View 5 Replies View RelatedComing from a Blackberry, I was able to create a "Group" and add people to that group so that I could send SMS Text messages to those in that group rather than having to add each one individually each time. I haven't found a way to do this on the new Droid. Is there some software/trick that I'm missing? I used this for work when multiple people need to get the same message at the same time.
View 13 Replies View RelatedWhenever I click "contacts", it shows "All Groups", not "Phone Contacts". After I switch the display group to "Phone Contacts", it'll stay that way for an hour or so, but later, it'll switch right back to "All contacts". (I have "facebook" and "twitter" groups in contacts as well). Is anyone else having this problem?
View 2 Replies View Relatedso I created a group and misspelled the name in the silly "Contacts" application. So, I deleted the group and created a new one with the name properly spelled. Yes, I could have renamed the misspelled group, but I was in an unusually stupid frame of mind. The group doesn't show in "Contacts" on the phone, but it does in Handcent and elsewhere.I know how to NOT screw up again, and that's to NOT use the "Contacts" app every again, but how do I truly delete the group that I already created?I went into Handcent and went to send a message to a group, and the deleted group appeared there. I also went to to the application that I downloaded called "Group Ringtones" and it appeared there as well. It doesn't appear in GMail though. I didn't expect it to appear in GMail, but it wouldn't have surprised me if it did.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you are wondering How to make "Groups" emailing work in Gmail on the Droid and a pain in the ass it is.Create a Contact with the name of your group Copy & Paste each persons email address that you would like in this group-Put each one in the SAME EMAIL BOX-Seperating each one with <emailaddresshere>, <emailaddresshere>,
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo...I am currently using a custom sound for my notifications. Since we aren't allowed to access the internal storage, the sound file is stored on the sd card by default. Today when I plugged my phone in (which is defaulted to USB Mass Storage) it started to play the sound from the card, but Mass Storage mode steals the SD and blocks it from the phone, so halfway through the sound, the phone rebooted. When the phone was almost restarted, it recognized being plugged in (still) and tried to play the sound again...reboot. I unplugged it and changed the default notification to one of the pre-installed ones and tried again. Notification played and everything was fine....wtf? So.....can I either disable the sound when I connect to USB mode or is there a way to put the sound file in the folder with the factory installed ones? (I am rooted)
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Google contacts sync up with the Droid X just fine, except that the groups on Google don't show up on the Droid. Also, groups on the Droid don't show up on Google. Also, Google tasks are not downloading to the Droid.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHandcent syncs with google but the stock contact app does not. Is there an app or way to get my groups in the contacts
View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore 2.2 upgrade, under contacts/menu "display groups" would present me with a list of contact groups (all, phone, google) with a header of "show".Now I just get the "show" header and no list of groups.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI thought the groups were a good idea, but when I select sms or email, it doesn't work. Does it work for anyone else? When I click on send email to group, my gmail opens up with no contacts in the send to field.
View 1 Replies View RelatedQuestion is, is there a way to show contacts in their "Groups"? They're all neatly organized into groups on gmail, but on the phone they just all populate the "all contacts" or "google contacts" in the stock contact manager. Is there a way to filter by group? I'm using an incredible and this functionality is build into HTC's "people". Am I missing something similar that Motorola has set up? Seems like theres gotta be a way to group contacts on here too.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have searched but I wanted to ask specific to DX to make sure I wasn't missing something simple. Google Contact Groups don't appear in my contacts on the DX regardless of sync. One of the group names I created did transfer over and Organization name.
I cannot sort the contracts by group on my phone. I either have all or none. Did I do something wrong (most likely yes, this was much easier in the BB world)? Am I missing a step, this appears to be a problem on all Android OS. So do I need an app to fix this?
I have an issue with using contacts on my droid. From within 'contacts' i hit the 'display options' then selecting the email account I see the drop down for system contact groups-friends, family, coworkers. I am wondering if there is any way to create additional contact types or groups? As in I have a specific group of contacts from one website I want to add to a group--can you create a contact type or contact group?? I can't find the option when adding a new contact or when within the display options as mentioned before.
View 1 Replies View RelatedQuick question: do text messages come through to the phone on either wi-fi or G3? Or is it just G3?
View 8 Replies View RelatedA while ago I found an app that would text phone numbers of your choice with "X" amount of texts. You would just fill in the text box, specify how many texts, and the frequency of the texts....... and voila! Instant gratification of seeing my friends phone blow up because he couldn't delete them as quickly as they were coming in.
I would prefer to find the original free version, but paid version is fine too. As long as you can personalize the text field, and set the number of texts, I'd be happy. The one I had you could set an almost unlimited number of texts, so I'd usually do them 75 texts at a time. As long as it'll let you do more than 50, it would be perfect.
Does anyone know how to set up a Group for texting so that you can text a specific group of people all at one time instead of having to do each one idividual? Thanks
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm finally going to make the jump over to android from winmo this week after years of loyalty but the one thing that could sway my decision is the ability to do t9 texting. yeah i know there are all these new fangled ways to text like swype but imo nothing beats the simplicity of a 9 button predictive layout I played with my brother's incredible which had it but i'm unsure if that was an HTC thing or not. So are all android keyboards the same with the same option and if not does anyone know if the X will have t9 text?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe vibrate feature for my text and email alerts no longer functions. It is just completely silent (ringer is off, but phone is set to vibrate, not silent). I have the setting for Also Vibrate on Notification checked so my setting are right, it seems. The vibration works for incoming calls, but not my alerts... I did have locale installed which is the only app I can imagine messing with it. I have uninstalled Locale but the problem persists.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have had a slider phone for years and could text super fast. Then I switched to an Eris where I had the option of using the qwerty keyboard on landscape OR I could hold it upright and use the numeric keyboard with T9 like I did on my slider. I always held it upright and was very happy. I was having reception issues with my eris so I traded it for a Moto Droid. Is there an option for the numeric type of keyboard becuase it takes me friggin forever to type a text.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i have my contacts in my phone, fine and dandy, when i first got my phone i accidently synched facebook contacts with my phone, meaning every person on my facebook with a phone # on their fb was imported into my phone, you know as well as i do, 90% of our fb friends arent phone contact friends, so i unsynched fb..now the issue im having is this. If i go into messaging, and in the To: feild i start to type a persons name in my contact to text them, for some people it doesnt show up, altho if u go into my contacts their name is clearly there. The other issue, is when i start to type names, it still brings up peoples names and numbers from FB altho their contact isnt saved in my phone..so everytime i wanna text someone i hasve to goto contacts, find them, clickhold and select text contact..kind of annoying for mass texts ect....
