Motorola Droid :: Browsing For Less Then An Hour And Mild Texting/emailing Phones About To Die
Nov 23, 2009
With low use - screen at almost 0, pandora for less an hour, browsing for less then an hour and some mild txting/emailing, my phones about to die. I rarely get 8 hours of use like this. Screen times out at 15 seconds, all GPS, WiFi and BT off......all the tricks and tips.
I am thinking of exchangin it, but i really dont want to have to re-install all my apps and widgets, input all my contacts and re-set everything up like I have it. ive had the phone since day 1, and have spent a ton of time tweaking it how i like it.
Is this info stored on the SD card so it can be easily swapped over to the new phone?

After owning every model of the iPhone, I bought an HTC One several weeks ago. There are *so* many things I love about this phone and I don't see going back to an iPhone until such time as Apply starts innovating again.
Anyway, there is one thing that I am having issues with. Maybe it's an HTC thing. Maybe it's a Gmail thing. Maybe it's an Android thing. I was able to email and text good quality videos from my iPhone. When I emailed them, the videos were HD quality; just as they were taken. When I texted them, the phone compressed them before sending but the quality was still excellent after compression. On my HTC One, I always get an error message saying the file size is too big when I attempt to attach a video file. The only way to text videos is to change video quality to MMS (176 x 144) which, as you can imagine, looks like shiznit.

Every time I upload a pic, text, or email from my Droid Razr the pic is stretched horizontally. The pics look fine on my phone, but when I look at them on any other device it's as if the vertical dimensions are reduced by about 25% (or horizontally increased)
I've changed all the normal settings for the default camera and played with them all, nothing works. Only thing I can do is upload pics to my desktop and use an image editor to increase the vertical size about 25%, which is very tedious and frustrating.

I'm planning on buying a sony ericcson xperia x10 mini pro but I don't like the blueish UI I saw video of it running ADW Launcher and that looked great but, Does using a different launcher also change the UI in the texting/emailing screens? , I want to have homescreens like ADW Launcher and the texting/emailing UI should look like pure android or ADW style.
When I think about the word "launcher" it isn't clear, does it modify only the home screens or the entire UI of the android operating system

I manually updated my Eris the other night and I must say I am happy with the update, it has really helped with my battery. What I have done is installed Battery Indicator by Darshan Computing. This puts a battery percentage indicator in the notifications area. I have set the built in timer for an hour and when it goes off I make a note of the battery in form of a percentage. Here is what I have so far.
Hour/Percentage of Battery Remaining
1/98
2/85
3/82
4/80
5/77
6-70

My phone is opening in my jacket pocket. Anyone else have this problem? I can hold the back and give the phone a MILD shake and the slider completely opens. Also if I push on the Magnifying Glass while the phone is closed, the phone has quite a bit of downward travel, but the other three corners dont...this happening to anyone else?

So I recently got a Droid X which I love, but I am having a really tough time emailing photos and videos. I'm looking for something that will automatically shrink photo's when I want to email them. The iPhone does this automatically. I am constantly sending pics of my kids to my parents but at 2.5 MB per pic it take WAY too long to send (if the email client even allows it). I am aware that I can resize each and every photo and THEN send them, but that seems very time consuming and unnecessary. Is there anything that will automatically shrink photo's when I attempt to email multiple pics?

and I can't figure out what the hell it is? Unplug everyday @ 6:30am, it is now 12:00 noon. Usually battery is around 70 to 80%, but today is @ 50%. I can't figure out what's going on. I don't believe I've done anything much different today than any other day. ETA...I downloaded and installed 2 apps last night from the market...GPS Status (but it and GPS is off) and Microsoft Tag Reader (also is not running).

Bought a shiny new Android phone (HTC Desire) today, everything going ticketyboo up to now and only a few small questions:
1) How do you know when your not using the internet? It's not a problem at home connected to wi-fi, but going to take phone to work tomorrow and not sure if normal internet will continue running in the background?
2) Is it correct that BBC iPlayer etc are not yet compatible with Android phones? Tried to get tvcatchup, but appears it's only available for iPhones?

Ever since the update scrolling through pages in the browser has been embarrassingly laggy. Pages that used to scroll smooth as butter from top to bottom now chug along as if you're asking it to load uncompressed hi-def images on the fly.

I've had my DroidX for about 2 weeks now. Last night while browsing it just locked up....no response to any screen or button presses. It did shut off when I pushed the power button, but then would not come back on. I removed the battery for a bit and then it seemed to come back on normally. Has this happened to others? Is this "normal?" Normal like how windows sometimes just locks up?

I am thinking of switching over to the DroidX from the iphone 3gs (ATT).I was wondering if I will be able to browse the web via 3G while I am on a call. I read that due to CDMA tech, I will not be able to do this on Verizon.

This is my first touchscreen phone and I am having trouble getting use to it and was wondering if there were any tricks to it. While scrolling a page with my finger I often find I am inadvertently clicking a link I didn't intend or two links are close together and my finger makes contact with the wrong one first and in both cases I have to stop loading the page I dont want, hit menu and back to reload the page I did want and start scrolling over again.I also find it unnatural that the phone can scroll in both the x and y directions at the same time. It makes sense to scroll in whatever direction is more predominant.

One thing I like about the iPhone is the pinch to zoom feature, the droid does not have this yet...I don't think. Is there a 3rd party web browser that supports this in the app store? Or is there any hint of one coming soon? It's not that big of a deal really, I'm just curious.

Long story short: on my way to vegas my girlfriend was browsing the web on my droid x and the led turned a solid blue. The only app I have that turns the led blue is blink but I have it set to flash blue for incoming and missed calls, however, I didn't have any missed calls and there were no notifications in the tray.

Ever since I flashed a stock 2.2 rooted ROM from ROM Manager, I have been having some big time browsing issues.
Both my stock browser and Dolphin Browser HD are now terribly slow most of the time, despite being OC'ed to 1gHz and having plenty of signal. Both also have a hell of a time with scroll and pinch zoom gestures, often clicking links instead. Dolphin seems more troublesome in that regard though. Text entry is also terribly slow, again seemingly worse in Dolphin. And anytime I attempt to select text from a webpage to be copied to the clipboard, the stock browser crashes.
I've checked all my other apps, and none of them seem to have these problems. Text entry and scrolling are quick and responsive, and I've even FC'ed my other running programs to try to weed out a conflict.

I'm not sure if this is just me, but it's kind of strange. My web browsing goes 10X faster if I'm not tonnected to my Wifi at home. I have a wireless G setup, and the phone is connected to it with full signal strength. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

I'm finally going to make the jump over to android from winmo this week after years of loyalty but the one thing that could sway my decision is the ability to do t9 texting. yeah i know there are all these new fangled ways to text like swype but imo nothing beats the simplicity of a 9 button predictive layout I played with my brother's incredible which had it but i'm unsure if that was an HTC thing or not. So are all android keyboards the same with the same option and if not does anyone know if the X will have t9 text?

The vibrate feature for my text and email alerts no longer functions. It is just completely silent (ringer is off, but phone is set to vibrate, not silent). I have the setting for Also Vibrate on Notification checked so my setting are right, it seems. The vibration works for incoming calls, but not my alerts... I did have locale installed which is the only app I can imagine messing with it. I have uninstalled Locale but the problem persists.

I have had a slider phone for years and could text super fast. Then I switched to an Eris where I had the option of using the qwerty keyboard on landscape OR I could hold it upright and use the numeric keyboard with T9 like I did on my slider. I always held it upright and was very happy. I was having reception issues with my eris so I traded it for a Moto Droid. Is there an option for the numeric type of keyboard becuase it takes me friggin forever to type a text.
