Is there a way to have a pic. show up in place of the android dude when texting?
Like it shows the other person's pic next to their text when msging but when you reply it shows only a cartoon image of the android dude for you. Is there a way to change that picture? I can't seem to locate it.

Is there any way to change the priority in what picture gets displayed for the contacts? I have most of my contacts in Outlook via. Exchange, G-mail and facebook. I would like the picture to change along with their facebook picture but it seems to stay the pict i have in gmail or outlook. Is there a way to have it always show the facebook picture first and then if they arent a facebook contact fall back to the g-mail or outlook picture?

I've been creaping on here for a while..but i haven't seen anything about changing the icon's on the programs (such as facebook gmail gtalk)..i know its possible because droid's can do anything..so how's it done?

When I take a picture and share it in messages it says picture is too large and starts compressing it. It compresses it down to 14kb. It says picture can be as large as 1000kb but every time it compresses it to 14kb and don't know how to change it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm a noob to the whole smartphone with data thing. Is it normal for my phone to switch in and out of 3G in an area that the verizon map shows as being a 3G area? At home I seem to stay on the 3G fairly constantly, but at work (which is at the edge of coverage) and especially while driving I seem to drop 3G quite a bit. It makes playing Slacker in the car not worth while. Just wondering if this is "just the way it is" or if I may have an issue.
View 15 Replies View RelatedThe GPS icon is now always on my notification area. This has only been happening for the past couple of days. Previously, it would come on when in use (e.g. using Google Maps or some other application that was using the GPS) and then would disappear when the application terminated.
I used Taskiller to terminate all running applications, but the GPS icon was still on after I killed ALL of the running applications. So, I'm assuming that it's not because of a new, or updated, application I installed.
It doesn't appear to be causing any problems, but wonder if it's really on and draining the battery more than necessary. Also, it was a reminder to me that I'd left an application running that was using the GPS.
Is anyone else seeing this?
The xml files that contains the Activity layouts can be rendered by Eclipse.
How do I get that Eclipse screen area to have vertical orientation, not horizontal (inside Eclipse - it correctly shows as vertical in the emulator)?
I am using micromax a116.. I want to know if there any mod or tweak, that can be used to change the appearance of notification area.. Its not so attarctive as in samsungz galaxy phones.. So I just want to change its looks..

Is there any way to change your own profile picture so I don't have to look at an old picture all the time?
Anyone know of a 3g toggle widget on the market like the one on the incredible? I live in a horrible reception area and my dx gets hot and gets a lot of battery drain searching for 3g. I noticed my incredibles battery life improved vast amounts when I turned the 3g off when I'm not using data.

I love hearing the actual street names and running it in "satellite" mode, so I can see the actual buildings and scenery. However, over time, I've seen that it gets me to about 6 out of 10 destinations perfectly. The ones it misses are usually at least pretty close, but sometimes I really have to search and sometimes find that it overshot the location by a mile or so, or that the big loop that took ten minutes to complete could have been eliminated by just turning right at "x" and left at "y"...

It still autofocuses, but does not show the bracket at all. Any ideas on why this is?

I see others are having the same problem though.I have the Droid X I am using the messaging that the phone came with not an added app (I am on Verizon). When I try to reply to a text from my husband I get a message saying "unable to deliver. Please re-send with area code". He is in my address book with an area code and the callback number has the area code. But next to his name it does not have the area code (again, it is entered in my phone with an area code). I have tried to delete his phone number, text my phone with his phone, and reply, but that still does not work. It is so frustrating and weird. Even when I do not have him in the address book the call back number (shown as cb#) has the area code, but up higher when his name would be does not have the area code.

I thought it would be cool to tap the screen once, and have the batter/time/date/notification area drop down from the top like how it is right now with the stock version, then tap the screen again and it hides the notification area. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm finally going to make the jump over to android from winmo this week after years of loyalty but the one thing that could sway my decision is the ability to do t9 texting. yeah i know there are all these new fangled ways to text like swype but imo nothing beats the simplicity of a 9 button predictive layout I played with my brother's incredible which had it but i'm unsure if that was an HTC thing or not. So are all android keyboards the same with the same option and if not does anyone know if the X will have t9 text?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe vibrate feature for my text and email alerts no longer functions. It is just completely silent (ringer is off, but phone is set to vibrate, not silent). I have the setting for Also Vibrate on Notification checked so my setting are right, it seems. The vibration works for incoming calls, but not my alerts... I did have locale installed which is the only app I can imagine messing with it. I have uninstalled Locale but the problem persists.
View 18 Replies View RelatedWorks nicely for my X. I just downloaded about 8 gigs of my music. It sync'd my videos also. Works well, but you have to select what you want to sync in the settings. Took me a while to figure it out. Also, if you try to sync a DRM protected MP3, the X gets cranky and kind of freezes up and displays a get license in the notification area.

Then I switched to an Eris where I had the option of using the qwerty keyboard on landscape OR I could hold it upright and use the numeric keyboard with T9 like I did on my slider. I always held it upright and was very happy. I was having reception issues with my eris so I traded it for a Moto Droid. Is there an option for the numeric type of keyboard becuase it takes me friggin forever to type a text.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i have my contacts in my phone, fine and dandy, when i first got my phone i accidently synched facebook contacts with my phone, meaning every person on my facebook with a phone # on their fb was imported into my phone, you know as well as i do, 90% of our fb friends arent phone contact friends, so i unsynched fb..now the issue im having is this. If i go into messaging, and in the To: feild i start to type a persons name in my contact to text them, for some people it doesnt show up, altho if u go into my contacts their name is clearly there. The other issue, is when i start to type names, it still brings up peoples names and numbers from FB altho their contact isnt saved in my phone..so everytime i wanna text someone i hasve to goto contacts, find them, clickhold and select text contact..kind of annoying for mass texts ect....

Something along the lines of "I am currently driving and cannot read nor respond to your message," that you turn on and off like an email "Out of Office" reply.
