Is there a way to sync only one specific Google contact group rather than getting everyone that happens to have a phone number from the generic "All Contacts" section? If I go into the standalone Contacts app the only contacts I see on the "Contacts: Google" list are the ones I want but when I go into the contacts in the phone app everyone and their grandparents are listed.

I'm sure I could create duplicate groups, but that seems silly. Can anyone confirm the same behavior and/or suggest something to get these groups syncing properly?

I only have my phone contacts. After cleaning things up, I still have 2 empty "Google" contact groups.My question: Is it possible to remove a contact group? I haven't found a way to do it and I have had no luck searching here or on the rest of the internet. I just want to clear up the clutter. I think it's silly to have 2 empty contact groups.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have them filtered on the Handset so that only those marked as Friends or Family under Gmail contacts are shown. I can't help this as otherwise I'd have well over 1000 contacts to scroll through on my phone.
My issue is that should I add a contact on my phone it doesn't appear. This is obviously because when it's created it has no group membership. It still resolves against SMS etc but is not displayed in the Contacts list. I can (when near a computer) quickly jump onto gmail, manage contacts and put the person into the right group but ideally I'd like to be able to do this on the handset.
Is there any way at all of editing Google Contact Group membership on the handset? I certainly can't find the option if it exists. Alternatively is it possible to change it so when the contact is create on the handset that it automatically saves as a 'Friend'.
I want to add a contact and have it sync with google. Only problem is when I create a contact I go into 'people' - 'add contact' and then select the drop down box my only option is 'phone'. am I missing something here? I have google sync turned on.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter installing Facebook 1.3 and 1.3.1 on my Eris with 2.1 my Google Contacts are stuck in a sync loop and draining my battery. It tries to sync, gets an error about contact sync not being available, tries to sync, gets error, etc over and over. Since I'm not able to uninstall Facebook, only uninstall upgrades, going back to an older version causes the non-stop syncing to stop. WOO HOO! Has anyone else experienced this? I want the new Facebook 1.3.1, but the I can't live without contact sync.

Am I weird for wanting my phone JUST to have peoples numbers in my contacts? I don't need people's phone numbers who live in England, because I'll just e-mail them if i need to ask them anything. Maybe I'm just old school and so used to my non-smart phone.

I have several contact groups setup in google Voice/Gmail. I cannot seem to access/send to these groups via my Droid Gmail/Voice application. Handcent is the only application I have that seems to be able to send a single message to one of my google groups. Anyone have an idea on how I can send an email to a group via google?

I went into contacts -> menu -> more -> settings. I am UNABLE to check/unchecked the "Phone Contacts" (it is always checked). The goggle one i am able to check/unchecked. WHY and HOW can i toggle the phone contact? Also, backup assistant only takes PHONE contacts and not GOOGLE contacts...while g mail contact sync only takes goggle contacts and NOT PHONE contacts. How can one change phone contact to goggle contact? (i have seen posts all over but no answers...and just replies saying "i have the same problem") I am trying NOT to have two (2) different types of contacts. PHONE and GOOGLE. I came from a Blackberry connected to my company's BES Server. I had started taking pictures of my contacts with my Blackberry and the pictures synced with the contacts in my Outlook.When I setup the Incredible to sync with the exchange server all of the pictures I had for my contacts instantly showed up as the contacts picture on the phone (just like on the Blackberry). I just figured that is how it is across all of the Android phones.Got my X last friday and found out that it apparently doesn't pull the contacts pictures from Exchange when i gets the rest of the data. Neither does it push pictures taken from the phone up to Exchange.My question is: is the Droid X's software lacking this feature normal for Android phones?Do Nexus One's and Samsung android phones sync contact photo's with Exchange?Trying to figure out if syncing contact photo's is just one of the extra niceties that come with the Incredible's Sense UI?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving issues with gmail contact sync. I was using the blackberry tour which I synced regularly with outlook. When I switched to the Droid i exported the vcard into gmail and the gmail synced with my droid. The problem is some of my contacts have been merged with other contacts. For example, Nick with no last name was merged with Nick H that does have a last name. They should be two different Nicks and I dont understand why the droid is combining them. I have checked the gmail account and the two Nicks are NOT merged together, but the two Nicks ARE merged on the actual phone. My phone was syncing with facebook and gmail but i disabled the auto sync and just manually synced the gmail on its own but i still have the same problem. I also have another friend with the same problem on her droid.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed the latest Facebook app on my Droid today and found that it synced most of my contact photos beautifully. (I chose the second option: only to sync photos with my current contacts) However, one minor issue and two less minor issues:
- For one of my contacts, the picture didn't sync. Dunno why but I guess I can just add the photo manually.
- Another thing is weird. After making a call I've noticed that in my dialer's "favorites" tab, there is a contact who I am friends with on Facebook but whom I do not have the number for, nor whom I have ever called at all! This person keeps reappearing (with FB profile pic and email address) in my dialer app, but the person is not in my actual Google / Android contacts.
Any ideas on how to fix that latter issue? Whenever I delete this person's listing from the Favorites tab, they keep reappearing after I make calls (to other people) O_o
Oh, and since we're talking about the Facebook app..
- Is there any way for Facebook to use the Android notification system to let me know about any new FB notifications? As it is, I'll be on the computer and see some new notifications, but on my Droid I have to manually refresh notifications in the app before it knows about them. Kinda weird.

If I go to people I am the only one there. If I search or dial they are there but if I just look at people it does not show them. I reset contact storage but that did not help. I added a contact on my phone to the google contacts and the count went to 466 and the one I added shows up on the phone.

Have a great day fellow Droidians.Sync from Blackberry to CSV to GMail / G1 without Outlook.Here's a procedure to export contacts from a Blackberry and import into the G1 / Android using a CSV file and GMail Import, without using Outlook or Google Sync (I don't use Outlook, and had read about limitations/problems with Google Sync for Blackberry). This initially works best when you have a GMail account with maybe some but not all of the same contacts as are in your Blackberry, and with your G1 phone contacts relatively empty (or cleared) to avoid duplicating contacts.
Basically, you create a CSV file using Blackberry Manager (free download from T-mobile, etc.,), edit it using Excel or other spreadsheet program to change the heading names, import the resulting CSV file into the Gmail, then sync it directly into the G1. There are a few tricks, but the result is your contacts will be displayed exactly as you want them.The Export to CSV from Blackberry Manager (BBM) and the import of CSVs into GMail were not intuitive (at least not to me ;-), nor well documented anywhere I found. Here is how I did it using a T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8120, BBM vers 4.6 for Win XP, GMail as of 17-Nov-09, and T-Mobile G1 (Android 1.6)

just a minor inconvenience: I used to have my phone set to sync with google, which alerted me every time I received an email. I then found out that google sync was causing an issue with my contact pictures, taking them from facebook and resizing them. it caused them to looked pixelated or "zoomed in" in hilli billy terms. So now I have it set to never sync with google. So now I never receive a notification when I receive an email. Anyone know a way I can set it to sync only to gmail and not sync the contacts? I don't really need to sync them anyway, as I have backup assistant for that purpose.
