HTC Droid Eris :: Removing Scratches In Camera Window Of Battery Cover
Nov 17, 2010
There are some minor scratches in the window that the camera lens uses to take pictures on the battery cover. Even if I don't get all of them (some MIGHT be too deep, its hard to tell whether my fingernail catches or not in that little area), it would still be better if I could get some of them out. Any way I can do this without harming the lens even more? The scratches are on the outside of the cover, btw, not the tiny circle opening on the inside.

Is it just me or does anyone else have trouble removing their battery cover?Sometimes it comes off really easily and sometimes it won't come off at all.I lost patience with it last week and tried to get it open with my car key and scratched it.I think the cover should have some kind of grip on it so that your finger/thumb doesn't slip when you try to open it.Now have a new cover on order from HTC,hopefully the new one might be easier to get off.

So I just got my Moment last night, and I cannot figure out how to remove the SD card. EVERYTHING I have found says it's under the battery (wtf), but I can't get the battery cover off to get to it, and I can't find any instructions on how to remove the battery cover.

I bought a extended battery and cover for my eris off ebay...Well the new cover did not have the wide camera hole in it like the factory one does, and when i turned my bar code scanner on it fried my camera. So now im looking for a extended battery cover for it that has the same type of camera eye as the factory.

The clear plastic on my battery cover (over the camera) has a crack going right through the line of sight for the camera. Anyone know of a good place to get a (hopefully cheap) replacement rear cover/battery cover/phone back?

I have had my eris for a week now and noticed that it has developed a clicking noise on the right side of the battery cover. Whenever i hold it in a vertical position, you can here it click. You can actually see the batt cover move just a little bit. Is anyone else having this issue. I know that it is a small thing to complain abt, but that clicking is annoying.

I've noticed that for the past few days I have been experiencing lower than normal battery performance with my Eris. I checked the battery sonsumption and it says that it is the camera that is doing it. OK. So I force kill everything (reinstalled a task killer) and opened the camera and closed it again. I always exit an app with the back button, not the home button. Still the problem persists. I noticed that while it was charging last night that the camera was using 100% of my battery. So my conclusion is that whenever I charge my Eris the camera runs in the background even after I take it off of the charger. Is anyone having this problem?

Basically I was messing around and decided to check my battery usage because it seemed to have run down pretty fast lately, and i see this. Whenever i run my camera once this seems to happen. I always use the back button to back out of the camera after i use it and i've gone as far as ending all tasks using the system app. Is there any way to stop the camera from using so much of my battery, or should I just stop using it?

Since receiving the 2.1 OTA it seems that the camera is not closing properly after exiting. I first noticed this after I received the OTA update and just assumed I needed to do a factory reset, which i did yesterday.I checked it again this morning, took a pic, waited an hour and a half, and voila it's still eating battery at a prodigious rate as compared to other apps and systems currently consuming battery. The only thing I've found that works to date is rebooting the phone.Any ideas? anyone else experiencing this? My 1.5 ran beautifully and 2.1 is too, (I'm in the Frisco camp) with the exception of this camera glitch.

Since the glass covering the lens for the camera is flush with the back of the phone, with my droid I constantly have fingerprints all over it just from holding the phone. With such a tiny lens, a tiny bit of grease from your fingerprints can completely ruin videos and pictures.Things like Phantomskinz intentionally leave the lens uncovered - probably because putting any kind of fingerprint resistant material over it would compromise its optical qualities.I was originally looking at the hard silicone snap on case because that would effectively inset the lens a few millimeters from the back of the phone, meaning my skin wouldn't be touching it when just holding the phone. However, I decided not to use this because it wouldn't fit in the car dock with that case.Aside from simply cleaning it off every time you want to take a picture or video, has anyone found an easy way to keep finger prints off the lens protector?

Is it just me, or does anyone else's battery cover come off way too easily? I'll accidentally slide it off when pulling my phone out of my pocket all the time... and sometimes it gets pulled off in my pocket so I take the phone out and the cover falls on the ground I really don't want to put a case on my phone just to hold the damn battery cover on.

Sorry to bother you guys, but I purchased a Motorola Droid about a month ago and since then the battery cover has fell off about 5 times. The last time it fell off while I was walking and talking in the street and I couldn't find it to put it back together. So now i have a droid without the battery cover. Is anyone else experiencing this problem as well? If yes, does anyone know a solution?

I'm onto my 2nd Droid. The first one had the same battery cover issue as everyone appears to be talking about.very loose, comes off in your pocket, etc.Now the new one has an entirely different battery cover issue.one of the door prongs doesn't appear to "catch" on one of the holes on the back (top right hole, closest to the USB connector). The net result is that the door stays on, but this corner of the battery cover sticks out/up.Anyone have the same issue?Fixes?

I currently have lost the Battery Cover to my Motorola Droid within the first two weeks of me having the phone.I have yet to take it off once, I must have gotten a lose one (Which I have read is quite a problem).I e-mailed Motorola and they linked me to purchase a new Cover for $10, plus $5 shipping (And that wouldn't even ship for another 5-6 days!).Am I entitled to a free replacement? Will Verizon (I know, "call them") replace one for me?

First droid had an imperfection on the glass screen that caused a black spot (prolly 3-4 pixels big) on a white background in which I could not fix because it was part of the glass. Second droid had dust infiltrating on the sides leading to a distraction when viewing the screen. Now, my third droid has such a loose battery cover that it comes off in my pocket a lot. Am I too picky or do I just have bad luck? Really don't want to go to the verizon store again for a loose battery cover but I think that is a legitmate problem, and btw I have tried a different battery cover and that isn't the problem, it must be what the cover hooks onto inside the phone that is causing it to be loose.

I bought an ADP1 from Brightstar Corp in November 2008 and everything was great until about a month ago when the camera window shattered in my pocket. I've called Brightstar who told me to call HTC, I did and they only sold the T-Mobile G1 backplates. My Android Market homepage only allows me to buy the ADP1. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this replacement part without buying a new phone?

I've been reading a lot on protecting the camera lense on the back cover. My question is: is that the actual camera lense? On my Hero it is part of the back cover and just a cover for the actual camera lense. I have several backs for me and my wifes Hero's so I don't worry about it that much. We purchased several factory packs off ebay with backs, batteries, usb cords, etc. for just $16.00 a piece. Maybe this can be done with the EVO when we get them.

So my virgin mobile phone that I had a while ago had this same problem, but less severe. I had fluctuations in the signal strength. Cover the side of the phone and the signal will go down, uncover, signal goes up.
Basically what I found, or in this case hypothesize, is that the internal antenna may be somewhere on one of the sides of the phone. When you cover the side the signal bars seem to go down. Hold the phone on the top corner and they may go back up. I've done this in a few places around my usual usage areas and all seem to follow this trend. Im not saying that correlation leads to causation, but im just saying maybe we're overlooking something here. This usually happens on the right side. However, I am puzzled that this would mean flesh interferes with radio waves...Also, I'm not complaining or questioning why as I've read several other threads on this issue and side with those who think the bars mean nothing. I've been able to make perfectly good phone calls with 0 bars, no dropped calls, and perfect sound quality.

I have asked this on the bloatware thread, and I've only seen one person mention that they have seen an improvement (BringTheRain403). I know a lot of you have removed most of the bloatware by now.
Do you see a noticeable increase in performance or battery life after removing the bloatware? By removing, I mean freezing the apk's in Titanium Backup. I don't really have a problem with this stuff being on the phone, but if it will noticeably help to remove it, then I definitely will.

I've had my Desire for just over 2 months now and like to think I look after it - i.e. it doesn't get dropped or thrown about etc. However I've noticed that the rear camera lens cover is already badly scratched which is having a detrimental effect on any photos I take - they have a slightly 'misty' look to them. Quite disappointed by all of this as I owned a SE W880i for 3 years and the lens is still as good as the first day it left the box Just wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem and if there is a fix? I could pop out and buy another cover but I fear it would only last another 2 months and using a protective case isn't that appealing!

Ok first off, let me just say I absolutely love my phone. Pretty much everything about it makes me smile. I got it the first week it came out (got it at Best Buy - only place in Tucson with it in stock) and have loved every minute of it. I surf these forums (just registered today though) and noticed people with battery issues or stuff like that. I have none of that and usually get a day and a half of battery life if I dont use lots of apps or play games. I have one issue though! My first question is with the camera cover... the little plastic/glass cover over it really. My phone was getting a lot of dust under the cover of it and it was bugging me. So I took it to a Verizon store and they did a warranty replacement for me. The lady told me "Im not supposed to do this but I'll do it this one time." so I said thank you and was fine with it, but then she told me to go get a case to prevent it happening again. Well.... first off there I havent really seen a case that covers the camera part, and if there was one, I wouldnt want it as I use the camera a lot. Anyways, my replacement phone was fine for about 3 weeks and then I noticed the red ring was a bit loose on it. The sticky tape kinda came off a bit and now there is dust starting to get under this one. Should I be bothered by this or am I overreacting?
Also, a question for the future. I know my dad wants to cancel with Verizon and get a cheaper plan with a different company. Problem is, we're on a family plan so if he switches my bill will skyrocket. Im currently 21 and have a shitty job. so Im wondering if there is anyone who knows of a guide to flash the Incredible to Cricket service (I know its not that good of service, but it'd be 1/2 the price of me on Verizon alone). I know it can be done, but I dont feel like paying a guy $50 to do it for me.

Originally I kind of dug the red accents on the phone. But the more I've played around with it (different themes, etc.), I've kind of gotten over the red ear piece and camera lens cover. I've been kicking around the idea of dying/changing the color of the ear piece black for starters. Not sure what I would do with the lens cover, maybe just wet sand and polish although I understand it fairly delicate and thin.
My HTC letters have already been removed since the H removed itself, so I decided to finish the job. So maybe I am just looking for a more stealthy look. Anyone else or am I just insane?

Any bright ideas for keeping the phone off of the camera lens? I wish I could add feet on the four corners that would raise it above the lens on flat surfaces.
Do silicon covers raise it enough that the lens does not touch?
Even a small screen protector for the camera lens? Though I don't see that staying on as I slide the phone into my pocket.

On my DI the glass/plastic that covers the camera lens pushes a little at the bottom. The top feels solid. I have a bodyglove case and have never dropped it or anything.I'm concerned that it will eventually push all the way in or moisture will get under the glass.Does the glass push in at all for anyone else?
