Both my wife and I have the droid, no matter what we set our status to (available, DND) in the gtalk app we appear away to everyone. The status messages seem to update fine though. Is their a setting we're missing, or is there a bug in the gtalk app?

Does the gtalk use sms? am I getting charged for text messages? verizonwireless.com has a 3 day day on my current usage, so it's hard to test.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I did a rename to the file gtalkservice.apk to *.bak. I never use the app because I have eBuddy. But since I did it I am getta the error that com.google.process.gapps is force closing when I reboot the phone. Is this caused because gtalk is gone? And why?
Now the weirdest thing is that GTalk is still there, but I've previously been successful on Visual Voicemail, and others.
For some reason it can't stay logged in, Gtalk logs in and out like every 5 seconds. I have deleted the app, factory rest, battery pulls but no luck. The factory reset was for multiple reasons.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo sometimes I'll go into my contacts and notice that some of them have the green ball lit up telling me that they are online in gtalk. Now I am not signed onto gtalk... but yet somehow I see that in my running services that GTalkService is running.
I can only assume that its eating away battery trying to see how is online and not. I certainly don't need this info unless I wish to go online myself... in which case I would actually go into the gtalk app.
ANyways, obviously i've been killing it in the running services, but it just comes back all on its own. ANy idea why or how to stop it?
Why when I kill GTalk with my task killer, does it make my notifications not come through for GMail?

Is there a setting or app that would allow me to add a "gtalk" icon to a contact so that when I select a contact I would get the option to directly "talk/chat" with them via "Gtalk"?
Currently, when I select a contact I get the following icons:
"phone or call", "edit info", and "Instant Message"
I'd like to add to that list the "Gtalk" option.
I have just recently gotten a Samsung Vibrant and am loving it so far but. But I do have one question since GTalk "alwyas online" I would like to use it as my main instant message app, but is there a way to add AIM buddies to the app on android?

View 6 Replies View RelatedInstead, they are replaced by a generic green "Droid" icon. These are apps that are newly downloaded, and some that I've had for a long time. It's only a few of them, and it isn't a random thing- They stay that way, and the others still show up. I don't know if this is a Sweeter Home II issue, or a Sholes 2.0.1 ROM issue, or something that's up with these particular apps. In SWII, I do have the icons resized to about 75% of their original size. But even in the "Manage Applications" list, where they are all stock sized icons, they behave the same way. I've unloaded & reloaded apps to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the Handcent SMS and the LED color (blue) and it worked perfectly fine. I set the color to a custom color now and when I get a text, the LED for SMS doesn't show up. I also have the custom color off now too. I also have Missed Call. I used it to set a color for the SMS LED, but it still does not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am unable to use Gtalk, gmail, Maps, Market, Email (all pre installed) using GPRS/EDGE (Vodafone Live) on my Milestone. But All of these works with Wi-Fi connection. I installed Meeboo Messanger, this is also not working with GPRS/EDGE.
I called Motorola Customer care, they are saying that I have to take a DataPlan from Vodafone and should ask Vodafone to activate all GPRS/EDGE settings on my mobile. So I took a DataPlan (200 Rs. 100 MB), Vodafone People are saying that all available setting are already activated on my cell. But I am still unable to use any of them above. Every time no network connection found error is coming.
When hitting battery usage, would the LWP show up under display? I loaded in a new LWP from the market and checked battery usage and display was off the chart % wise compared to my normal use. And that was with some pretty decent phone activity. I disabled the LWP to check, but does anyone know if it will show here? Or anywhere?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIm streaming my radio show of choice (lex & terry app)...about 10 min goes by and it stops. I go to the phone which is hooked up to my radio and a wall charger and the 3g symbol has no activity and the program that streams my show says connection lost. Any reason why it is shutting off. I never had this problem with the eris. Just got my droid yesterday.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent SMS and when I try to change the notification ringtone, the only one's that show up are the defualt/sock ones. All of the one's on my SD card don't show up. At all. Under any of the notification setting panels (Handcent's and the main one). They do show up under ringtones though.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of custom ringtones, some mad in Ringdroid, some that I have had...all MP3. The ones I had are in a Ringtones folder on the SD card, those by Ringdroid..well I haven't checked yet.
My question is seeing that the music app scans the whole SD card, will I end up playing my ringtones with the rest of the music I play?

Now none of them are showing up. yet i can play them from AStro.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my DROID X with 2.1, I was successful at transferring my Contacts after uploading a csv file to GMAIL made from my old phone (Samsung Omnia). What I have ended up with on my Droid X is only being able to see the contacts in "All Contacts" and none of them show up in "Phone Contacts". Also, even in "All Contacts" , all it gives is the name of the person, and no other attached information like phone number, address, etc. When I go to check the contacts online on the PC on GMAIL, when I click on an individual contact, all the missing information on the DROID is there and perfectly intact. Losing my mind over this and hoping and praying I will not have to pull up "Edit" on all 210 entries and enter the numbers and adresses by hand.

So I go into Messaging and I'd like to type in the "to" field a contacts name, like facebook does it and it starts to list matches and then you just pick the one you want. Like it searches your contacts, but I can't figure out how to do this. Like I can only type in a number but I don't have anyones number memorized that's the point of having a saved phone book so am I missing something here?

View 6 Replies View Relatedso I'm using launcher pro which shows me that theres 43 emails in my inbox but when I open the gmail app, there are NO new emails.
I have the unread gmail app and when I open that one it says "no connection"
finally after 3 hours of not receiving emails as I'm typing this I get a new email alert, then they all start piling in.
Why is this.
We shouldn't have to use the "unread gmail" app in the first place but I have had to ever since I got my D1 and it's the same on the D2.
