Motorola Droid X :: Low Volume - Trouble Hearing Their Notifications?

Jul 30, 2010

Thursday Poll: Experiencing Volume Issues With Your DROID X? | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

It seems like many people are having trouble hearing their notifications. Is the volume problem really as bad as the poll suggests?

I'm literally on the verge of getting the Droid X but I have a few concerns regarding volume.

1) I use my phone as my alarm
2) I commute via train quite a bit, and not being able to hear the phone would suck
3) Is the volume for turn by turn navigation low also?

Motorola Droid :: Trouble About Calendar On Droid And Notifications.

Jan 5, 2010

I'm having trouble figuring something out about the calendar on the Droid, and notifications. If I set a meeting for 10:30 and have NO notifications, when 10:30 comes nothing happens. No alarm or anything. If I set a meeting for 10:30 and set a 5-minute notification, it rings at 10:25 and I hit "snooze," but at 10:30 nothing happens and the alarm never rings again, even though I haven't dismissed it.

If I set a meeting for 10:30 and set a 10-minute notification, it rings at 10:20 and I hit "snooze," and it rings again at 10:25, and I hit "snooze" again, but when 10:30 comes nothing happens and no alarm ever rings again. What am I missing here? What am I doing wrong? Why isn't there an alarm for the actual time of the meeting (10:30), and why don't the alarms continue to sound until they're dismissed?

HTC Droid Eris :: Sound Amplifier / Hearing Aid App?

Feb 4, 2010

I have searched for an app that would allow a hard of hearing person to use earbuds and have the phone amplify the ambient sound to act as a poor man's hearing aid or souns amplifier. Not even sure if this is possible but it seems it might work in theory. Any developers out there know if this is realistic?

Motorola Droid :: Trouble Installing Baseband 43.01 Update

Jul 20, 2010

I was running NexFro 1.01 but due to alot of buggyness on my phone I had to abandon it and go back to NextBeastvs 1.1 on firmware 2.1.

After which my reception went to hell even after I did a *228,2. So I tried to install the baseband update .43.01 from the link located here:

http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/121527-what-baseband-everyone.html

However it just error's out when I try to install from the SD card using lockwork, says Installation aborted.

Does this baseband only work for 2.2? If so what is the best one for firmware 2.1?

Motorola Droid : Trouble Playing My Own Music Files On 2.2

Aug 23, 2010

first the M4A file issues: Since i have been upgraded to 2.2, I can no longer play m4a files NOR files imported into iTunes from my own cd and then put on my phone. I get an error saying, this file type is not supported. Obviously the error is self describing by why did Android stop supporting these file. What am I supposed to do now? if these files are DRM free why would Android have a problem playing them. do they want to push their own music service. If so, thats fine, but thats not even out yet. Most of my searches on this topic come up unanswered. ALSO, when I go to play a song in mSpot, it starts to download and then it says "There was an error during song playback" I can play the song on the mspot website, but not through the app. Anyone else a little peeved by this update for these reasons?

Motorola Droid X :: Contact Photo Trouble / Copy Paste Failed

Jul 16, 2010

I'll make this short and sweet. My social network widget uploaded photos for my contacts. My girlfriends contact; I would prefer to have a photo that I took as contact pic; everytime I edit the photo, it reconfigures to the facebook pic. What can I do about this? And the second thing, is anyone else completely disappointed with how difficult it is to copy and paste text from a browser page? I goto settings to select text and no magnifying feature comes up, not to mention that it immediately selects whatever is highlighted once I remove my finger from the screen.

Motorola Droid X :: New Froyo Voice Commands Having Trouble Non-English Sounding Names

Aug 20, 2010

I've been playing around with the new voice commands in Froyo (Sending Txts, Calls, etc.), and I've noticed that while the feature is cool in theory, it seems to fail in practice. To be more specific, the Voice software can't seem to recognize any name that isn't John Smith, David Samuels, etc.

As an example, I have repeated tried to use it to text a friend of mine who's name is Ryanna (pronounced like the singer). I have tried using "Ree-ahna", "Ree-anna", "Rye-anna", "Rye-ahna", and other methods of pronouncing it, but all of them fail. The software doesn't even bother to take a guess!

Is there any way to "train" the software to better recognize names?

HTC Incredible :: Set Volume/vibrate Setting For Notifications?

Jul 16, 2010

I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured I'd just throw it in the general forum and see how it went. Does anyone else get kind of irritated by the way you have to set the volume/vibrate setting for notifications? I want ONE control that will put the entire phone on either silent, vibrate or ring. For some reason I can't choose a master sound profile, I have choices for each individual messaging app.. I really just don't get it, I'm almost dumbfounded by how insanely involved it is to just get a vibrate notification or none at all. Granted I have had and INC since the week it launched and love this phone, I just don't get it. Am I missing something? I put my phone on VIBRATE and NOTHING VIBRATES unless in the program's settings I have vibrate checked, which means it will vibrate all the time, in vibrate mode, silent, doesn't matter. Is there any way to make it so whatever setting I have my phone volume set too or what i would consider to be the "master" volume is what my notifications will do? I realize this is a bit of a rant but I'm kind of flustered over this. I don't understand why the volume control doesn't just control everything collectively. A good example would be, if my phone is on vibrate and someone tries to TikL me... I don't want the sound to come through, which it did while I was in a meeting... not good. Are all android OS phones like this or just HTC? (I will try and explain myself better and maybe edit this post, i just needed to blow off some steam because I feel this is a rube golberg way of setting sound profiles..

Motorola Droid :: Volume Keeps Turning Down / What Could Cause This?

Nov 9, 2009

For some odd reason, I will miss a call or a text and wonder why I didn't hear the ring. So, I go into the settings and see that the ring setting is turned nearly all the way down, so I crank it back up again. Then, later it is back down again.

What could cause this? Is there some action which will cause it to automatically turn down the volume, not just silence it for a while, but actually adjust the setting down?

Android :: Need Setting For "Use Incoming Call Volume For Notifications"

Does anyone know where the value for "Use incoming call volume for notifications" is stored? This is a checkbox found in the Ringer Volume settings that allows you to set a separate notification volume and incoming call volume. I would like to programatically toggle the value, but I can't figure out where it's stored. I looked at Context.AudioManager, I see methods for controlling the notification volume, but I can't find a setting for separating notification volume from incoming call volume.

Motorola Droid X :: My Phone Does Not Ring - Volume Is Up

Sep 23, 2010

I have all my volume controls turned up, all the way. Yet, when someone calls it just vibarates. I don't even have the vibe turned on, but still it vibes, and does NOT ring. I'd like the vibe & ring (both) option. But would be happy with just the ring too.or have the choice to change when I want.I used to have a very old MOTO Razr, which have PROFILE setting for: Meeting, Outdoor, Silent, Vibe, Normal, etc. I'm surprised The Hi-tech Droid X has nothing like that.
