Any way or an app to unlink the ringtone and notification volume? This is a real deal breaker for me. I need to find a way to be able to set the phone on a "phone only" mode at night so that only the ringer is on.
this is on the new Galaxy Nexus with ICS. It was available on older version of android.

Recently purchased the Virgin Mobile Supreme (Sprint Vital, ZTE N9810). The one thing that is bothering me is that there is only one volume setting for the combined ringtone and notifications. I would like to set these volumes separately.
I tried one volume control tool, but even though it had 'separate' controls changing ringtone changed notification and vice versa.
I have bought LG GT540 Optimus few days ago. Everything works fine except the volume of ringtone. I have set the volume on 100%, but the sound is still quietly. So I can't capture when somebody is calling.

I keep the volume all the way up, but when I'm in my car or just outside with other surrounding noises, I just cant really hear it. It's useless to even put the ringer volume halfway or less, you could barley hear it at all. Is it just me or does anybody else have this problem?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that when I have my headphones plugged in (but not in my ears) and the phone rings, the ring tone comes out of both (the phone and the headphones, which is fine) but it is not as loud out of the phone as when the headphones out not plugged in. If I pull the headphones out while its ringing the phone starts ringing almost twice as loud. Anyone know how I can make sure the phone will ring at full volume for those times when I forget to take my headphones out and put everything in pocket?

I downloaded AudioManager, and it looks like there are separate volume levels for alerts and ringer, but they seem to be linked. Right now, if I have my volume set high enough to hear incoming calls, I jump out of my seat every few minutes when I get an email or text.

Starting yesterday I noticed it had gotten quieter for some unknown reason. Now I can't hear it in the other room, and it just sounds quieter overall. Any ideas?

Tried the app " [URL]... " but it doen't work .
So I noticed that the ringtone volume is really really low and the headset earpiece volume is really low too. Its so low that I am thinking that i may have a faulty unit. The ringtone on max is about half as loud as a iphone and the earpiece volume is about half of any other phone that i have owned.
Has any other owners experienced the same?
I put some MP3s on my Inc and the audio player plays them fine and they're pretty loud coming out of the speaker.
Now, I took one of those MP3s and set it as my ring tone. I turned the ringtone volume all the way up and when I got a call, it's like half the volume as it played as an MP3.
Why do I lose so much volume? Is there any way to make that louder?
I've got a couple of questions about the volume rocker: if i've got an incoming call I hear my ringtone going off, but when I click the volume rocker the ringtone gets shut down. You can imagine that's pretty annoying when the rocker gets inadvertently pressed in your pocket (since it's so sensitive), you'll practically always miss the call. when the phone is locked, the rocker is used for media volume when listening to music. This combined with the sensitivity of the button is pretty annoying as the volume keeps getting adjusted when the phone is in my pocket. Is there a solution to these problems? Can the volume rocker be disabled completely? I must add i'm probably noticing these things more because I've purchased a rather tight glove (Puro) for the phone, and the buttons get pressed rather easily.

View 28 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased my X10 no more than a day ago and find that when talking to someone the ear piece volume is not very loud. I have set the volume setting to max and its still very faint and hard to hear.
I also find the Ring Tone Volume is not very loud, even after setting it to max. I have confirmed the Firmware is the latest version, just as a process of elimination.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or could be that I have a faulty handset?
I noticed that when i turn don't the volume with the rocker button on the side it says ringtone and only lowers the ringer volume. The system and notification volume stays loud. Is there and way to control them all at once?

I made a mp3 as my text message tone...its only 6 or 7 seconds long..but, the problem I am encountering is that when my phone is idle and my text message tone goes off upon receipt of a new text...I am finding myself using the unlock button to awaken the phone..swiping my finger on the screen to unlock the phone, and then going to the message icon to FINALLY disable the text message tone from continuing.
Is there a way for the phone to recognize that I am touching it, using the lock button on top of the phone or the volume keys..or SOMETHING other than having to actually wake, unlock, and enter the message area?
I did a search and all I have found is how to do this with a rooted phone. Can this be done on a non-rooted phone?

However, it only vibrates when I get a text message. Also, the sounds only happens at random times, when I have NO notifications. It really bothers me. I want my Droid to give off the notification ringtone only when I have notifications, not when I don't have them.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI wasn't sure where to post this so I figured I'd just throw it in the general forum and see how it went. Does anyone else get kind of irritated by the way you have to set the volume/vibrate setting for notifications? I want ONE control that will put the entire phone on either silent, vibrate or ring. For some reason I can't choose a master sound profile, I have choices for each individual messaging app.. I really just don't get it, I'm almost dumbfounded by how insanely involved it is to just get a vibrate notification or none at all. Granted I have had and INC since the week it launched and love this phone, I just don't get it. Am I missing something? I put my phone on VIBRATE and NOTHING VIBRATES unless in the program's settings I have vibrate checked, which means it will vibrate all the time, in vibrate mode, silent, doesn't matter. Is there any way to make it so whatever setting I have my phone volume set too or what i would consider to be the "master" volume is what my notifications will do? I realize this is a bit of a rant but I'm kind of flustered over this. I don't understand why the volume control doesn't just control everything collectively. A good example would be, if my phone is on vibrate and someone tries to TikL me... I don't want the sound to come through, which it did while I was in a meeting... not good. Are all android OS phones like this or just HTC? (I will try and explain myself better and maybe edit this post, i just needed to blow off some steam because I feel this is a rube golberg way of setting sound profiles..

It seems like many people are having trouble hearing their notifications. Is the volume problem really as bad as the poll suggests?
I'm literally on the verge of getting the Droid X but I have a few concerns regarding volume.
1) I use my phone as my alarm
2) I commute via train quite a bit, and not being able to hear the phone would suck
3) Is the volume for turn by turn navigation low also?
My volume just stops working for notifications and ringtones.After I take the battery out it starts to work again but then stops?I miss calls this way and dont know when im getting texted The phone also freezes alot and is slow whats the deal is there a fix? my phone came with the updated software 2.1.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm getting some errors I can't seem to get rid of. The application I'm working on installs alright but when it's started it stops the loading process telling me an error has occurred. Upon looking at the log there are ten apparent issues all revolving around the graphic files for the application.
DEBUG/(1724): unable to unlink '/data/data/com.blah.blah/files/ special_button.png': No such file or directory (errno=2)
That error happens 10 times..one for every image in the raw folder. The Manifest has multiple intents and activitys and is structured like this

It's the second activity that seems to be having the problem. The first activity is .MainActivity and the second one is .ThemeProvider and .Screen java files. Everything in the first activity runs perfectly only the second one has issues. I have tried everything I can think of to get rid of these errors so the images will load and stop causing the error and termination of that part of the application. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've been stuck for a few weeks on this.
