View 5 RepliesIs the alarm on the installed countdown timer really really low on everyone else's phone? I use the same style ringer for my alarm clock and timer. The clock is fine, but the timer alarm is so low it can barely be heard at the highest setting, 7. Is this normal?

It seems like many people are having trouble hearing their notifications. Is the volume problem really as bad as the poll suggests?
I'm literally on the verge of getting the Droid X but I have a few concerns regarding volume.
1) I use my phone as my alarm
2) I commute via train quite a bit, and not being able to hear the phone would suck
3) Is the volume for turn by turn navigation low also?
I have Android 4.2 on my mobile phone which I have bought recently.
Everything is running fine on my phone so far but with the exception of my clock's alarm volume.
For example:I set the alarm volume to max, I go and set my clock alarm to ring and when the alarm rings the volume is set to very low. When I check back to verify the volume, the volume is set to very low. I am very sure that I have set it to max though.
I have tried to reset my phone to factory settings, it didn't work..
why is it when i hit the volume rocker on the side, it only goes half way? i mean, its still loud as hell, but still. Even the Alarm volume only goes half way.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried several alarm clocks on my droid, and they all seem to have a problem. if I set alarms for 6:30, 6:41, and 6:52 am. Each with a different sound. If i snooze alarm 1, alarm 2/3 never goes off. i thought all 3 would be seperate, but it seems only 1 can be active at a time. unless im doing something wrong. this happens on the default alarm clock and, better alarm clock.
View 2 Replies View Relatedthis is getting very irritating... I have 3 alarm times set on my phone (stock clock), and the volume keeps resetting to whatever must be the default I guess. Here's what happens: I set the alarms as "on" (check box), then open the time itself, set the ringtone, and adjust the volume while doing so (I set it to max to make sure it wakes me up). The alarm clock goes off in the morning, very loudly, and wakes me up. I snooze, maybe a couple times or so (come on, it's the most comfortable time in the morning! haha). Eventually I dismiss it and get out of bed.
Next night, I check the alarm clock set to on, go to sleep. Alarm goes off in the morning, but it is very quiet. Just barely wakes me up, and not instantly. I check the alarm clock volume afterward, and it is only halfway up! This keeps happening, and I can't pinpoint why Of course, I can turn it up again, but it is very annoying to have to do this every single time I want to set my alarm. Just clicking one single checkbox to turn my alarm on is much easier than turning it on, opening it, opening the ringer chooser, adjusting the volume, and backing out of everything. My ringer volume stays where I put it, so why won't the alarm volume?!? I'd rather not install another app, since this one is fine other than the volume issue. But this little issue is driving me insane!
Is there any way to disable the volume control button as it works on the ringer volume? I use locale, but I bump those buttons often enough and turn the ringer off completely.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm after a simple alarm app with adjustable volume. I find the native app very loud and it shocks me awake.
Something which gets progresively louder would be ideal, also something with slightly milder alarm tones.
I'm writing a small application and having a bit of trouble setting the alarm volume. I've tried a couple of different methods, but neither actually seem to change the alarm volume.
My goal, is to mute all alarms under certain conditions. I have no issue checking the conditions, just actually changing the volume. I'm currently using the AudioManager class to make the changes .
setStreamVolume(int streamType, int index, int flags)
using STREAM_ALARM for the streamType. Using FLAG_SHOW_UI, it displays a toast showing that the volume was set properly, but if and alarm goes off, it still plays at full volume.I also tried
setStreamMute(int streamType, boolean state)
but again, the alarms go off as if nothing changed.
EDIT: I tested the same method with the media volume and it works perfectly. This leads me to believe the setting is being applied just as it should, but alarms simply aren't obeying the setting. This may have something to do with the fact that each alarm has it's own volume control. Still trying to find a way to mute them.
My device is a Motorola Moto G. I've updated it to the latest Android version available (4.4.2), however, I'm experiencing some serious problems; the most important atm is the alarm.
I am using the volume button to snooze the alarm, because imho it's more convenient. However, yesterday the volume button just didn't work for some reason. I had to unlock the screen for it to work, then it started working again with the screen locked. Today the same thing happened, I had to unlock the screen to snooze the alarm using the volume button, then I could snooze it again without unlocking, however, it just 'stopped' by itself, I don't know if the volume button somehow turned the alarm off. I didn't even touch the screen, so it's a bug or something. I've always been using a cell/smartphone to wake up and never had any problem.
Also, this device freezes a lot and I've never experienced that before in any cell/smartphone. It also seems the device must be turned on for the alarm to work; it's not that important for me, but still a 'downgrade' from my previous device. Another thing that really annoys me is that you can't even change the volume without playing the sounds... if you want to set a very loud volume in the middle of the night there's no way other than waking everybody up. Additionally, I would like to be able to somehow record a call, but none of the apps works with this device.
I don't think the alarm problem is a hardware fail or defective device, it seems to me the software is somehow bugged. There's no Cyanogenmod for this device yet (mine is dual chip) and even if it were available, It seems some apps doesn't work with it (like Sygic).
I don't know if I should try downgrading the OS to 4.3 or if there's something else I could try. I don't know if it's possible that the latest update was somehow 'badly flashed'. It doesn't seem very likely to me.
I've had an issue where my alarm volume mysteriously get set so low that I don't hear it go off. Is there a way I can freeze the volume or change something that will disable the volume control for the alarm?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro. When I set an alarm, the volume is quite high. I would like to lower this volume, however, I can't. There is no volume function in the alarm menu; I also tried to lower or switch off the other volumes, but the alarm volume remains the same...
Does anyone know how to change the alarm volume? It would make me wake up happy.
How do I adjust the volume on the alarm clock? For some reason, it only vibrates and I get no sound...luckily I'm a light sleeper.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a droid eris and i like to keep the notifications volume all the way down so it only vibrates. I've noticed that when I turn the ringer volume to vibrate and then back up or turn the phone off it resets my notification volume.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a new owner of the HTC Hero and I tried to customize the ring tones and alarm sounds by using the directions provided by leaky on the tread "HTC Hero: Tips, Tricks & Useful Apps" but unfortunately this did not work out for my Hero. My SD card appeared as DCIM and I had to rename it to SD card and then on the MEDIA folder I added an AUDIO folder in which I added three separate files. One named ring tones, one named alarms and on named notifications as directions provided by thread. Then I added the appropriate .mp3 files to each folder while having the Hero plugged in with my PC.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI wasn't sure where to post this so I figured I'd just throw it in the general forum and see how it went. Does anyone else get kind of irritated by the way you have to set the volume/vibrate setting for notifications? I want ONE control that will put the entire phone on either silent, vibrate or ring. For some reason I can't choose a master sound profile, I have choices for each individual messaging app.. I really just don't get it, I'm almost dumbfounded by how insanely involved it is to just get a vibrate notification or none at all. Granted I have had and INC since the week it launched and love this phone, I just don't get it. Am I missing something? I put my phone on VIBRATE and NOTHING VIBRATES unless in the program's settings I have vibrate checked, which means it will vibrate all the time, in vibrate mode, silent, doesn't matter. Is there any way to make it so whatever setting I have my phone volume set too or what i would consider to be the "master" volume is what my notifications will do? I realize this is a bit of a rant but I'm kind of flustered over this. I don't understand why the volume control doesn't just control everything collectively. A good example would be, if my phone is on vibrate and someone tries to TikL me... I don't want the sound to come through, which it did while I was in a meeting... not good. Are all android OS phones like this or just HTC? (I will try and explain myself better and maybe edit this post, i just needed to blow off some steam because I feel this is a rube golberg way of setting sound profiles..
View 5 Replies View RelatedAny way or an app to unlink the ringtone and notification volume? This is a real deal breaker for me. I need to find a way to be able to set the phone on a "phone only" mode at night so that only the ringer is on.
this is on the new Galaxy Nexus with ICS. It was available on older version of android.
I installed Timeriffic & it's effective at silencing notifications at night. Unfortunately, my alarm didn't go off this morning. Alternatively, is there another way to silence emails at night & still be able to use the built in alarm (razr).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgrade from a blackberry storm to the eris and I'm looking for an alarm app that could turn the phone on when its time to get up. My blackberry had the capability of being turned off but would turn back on when the alarm went off. Does the eris have this capability or is there an app out there for this.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I never used the alarm before (in 2.1 or 2.2) I was using the stock alarm clock in 2.2 for the first time this morning. But when the alarm went off, there was no sound, only vibration (fortunately the sound of the vibration on the table was enough to wake me up!). The first issue is that there was no ringtone sound even though the volume was on and a ringtone was set. Then next issue is that when I went to slide the slider to dismiss the alarm, it didn't do anything. The phone kept vibrating madly and the phone was fully functional. When I went to open the alarm panel again (through the app drawer, cause it was no longer a status icon), it said the alarm was off, even though the phone kept vibrating. The only way I could get the darn thing to stop vibrating was to turn the phone completely off then back on.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI first tested the alarm out and set it to go off in 2 minutes. it worked. so I set it for my morning alarm and to play an mp3. it said that it will go off in 6 hours. morning rolls by and it never goes off. i check it and its still set, but never went off. another problem that happened was my music player would not work after this incident. i would click load play list and it would take my to a blank screen. the previous song wouldn't play either. i had to reset my device to fix it.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI know that a lot of you have been having issues with this app. I thought that I'd try to make some suggestions that could or could not solve things.
- Make sure that you press the "Turn on alarm" check box at the very top of an alarm. I've missed it once before (my first time) and thought it was on because I pressed "Done" and even though it said that it was set for "6 hours and 53 minutes from now", it wasn't activated.
- Turn on "Vibrate" and have it rest on a wooden surface, like a night stand for example.
- Have "Repeat" set to the day that you want it on, even if its just for that day. This has helped some people.
- Have the "Backup alarm" on just in case.
- Have the volume turned all the way up. This definitely wakes me up every time because it can get really loud, especially when you're sleepy.
- Instead of playing one of the stock alarm ringtones, play an MP3 file. Play a song that can get loud, but I recommend to turn on "Volume" (which increases the volume gradually) so it doesn't startle you.
- Make sure that the speaker on the back isn't at risk of any muffling by fabric.
- Turn your phone over on its front to completely expose the speaker.
Go ahead and try a test alarm with all of these in mind (like set it to go off in 2 minutes) and see how it works out. I've made my mistakes by accidentally leaving it on a T-shirt (which definitely muffled the sound), forgetting to turn up the volume loud enough, and by forgetting to actually press "Turn on alarm" (as previously stated). If any of those suggestions do not work out for you, then you're on your own with a 3rd party app.
