I am running into a weird issue with Ubuntu 10.0.4 and my Droid X. For some reason, I cannot get ADB to recognize the X. Can anyone tell me if there is a config file I need to edit? I have tried everything imaginable. And yes, I do have Win 7, but I want to be able to use Linux, it's personal preference. I have a laptop running Ubuntu that recognizes the X, is there a config file I need to copy?

~Windows XP SP2, 32bit
~The SDK is installed and working.
~The USB drivers have been downloaded through the SDK.
~The phone is in USB Debug mode.
~The USB drivers have been installed in windows.
~Windows device manager shows that everything is working fine.
~Windows recognizes the phone when it is plugged in.
The ONLY thing that does not work is that the phone won't show up in the list of devices adb sees. Everything else appears to be setup and working just fine!
Why does my computer only sometimes recognize and charge the droid? I put it in today and the droid lights up but it doesn't charge or say usb connected on it like it sometimes does. This has happened before and im on a desktop pc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running Bugless Beast V.04 on my Droid1. I just noticed that since I started running the Froyo 2.2 build on my phone that I've lost the ability to play any of my Mp4 movies that I have on my SD card. The movies are formatted for the Droid and worked fine on the stock 2.1 video/ media player. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm wondering if its the ROM or is just a different video player all together with the 2.2 builds so they can use the flash player. Flash works flawlessly and YouTube still works ( at least it loads quicker ) but when I try to play a movie it gives some kind of error code . When I switch to the movie player it says " video cannot be played" ( just like when you tried to play a flash video on 2.1 stock) . Does anyone know if its just because the build of Froyo is not complete and will be fixed when the official OTA is released? If its an oversight by Motorola /Verizon we better keep it quite or they might push the date up again!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI plugged my Droid X into my computer to try and transfer a video I took today. It came up with a Motorola "CD ROM" drive. I clicked the setup file, installed it, then switched my phone to USB Storage. Windows tried installing the drivers and said there was an error. Now when I connect my phone to the computer nothing happens besides windows saying theres an unknown device.

But the computer doesn't recognize the phone at all. View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug my Incredible into my PC with the USB cable, the phone charges. How do I use the Incredible as a drive so I can drag and drop music files? I downloaded HTC Sync program onto my pc but it always shows as "disconnected" even when the phone is plugged in with the USB cord. In the Incredible's Connect to PC settings, I have disk drive as the default connection type and I checked off Ask me... What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't the pc recognize the incredible as new hardware that is connected? Is there a customer service telephone number I can call for assistance?
View 26 Replies View RelatedI broke the screen on my droid mini. I bought a replacement digitizer/screen combo off ebay that doesn't seem to be working even though installation is correct. I can power on the phone, but it's really weird. There's no display and it just vibrates once. About every minute it vibrates 1 time again.
Secondly, my PC won't recognize the phone now. I was going to try to transfer my photos to the PC so I could call insurance as a last resort. I have around 800 photos on there that I want to get off. NOTE, MY SCREEN DOESN'T WORK so I can't change modes on the phone.
I'm temporarily using an old phone, at least need getting the photos off the phone.
I have free space on the internal memory of my phone that is not recognized for things like installing an app.
This is my phone:
Model: Motorola XT919
Android version: jelly bean 4.1.2
Internal memory: 4gb (really 2,2 gb free since the rest is used by the OS)
Rooted: Yes
I found out about this problem because I was running out of internal space so I inmediately checked the storage settings and I found this:
In the installed apps settings it shows 766 mb free of internal space But in the storage settings the things are different: As you can see, this time I only have 127 mb free of internal storage....
Just to be sure, I downloaded the app Storage Analyser and once again checked the internal storage free space: And this time shows 1,52 gb free...
Well the thing is that my phone considers as free space just the 127mb shown on storage settings, and I want the phone also uses the free space shown on the app settings or the one shown by storage analyser.
All of a sudden my phone doesn't recognize some of my contacts when I receive a call. Is it possible that I changed a setting of some sort?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince Android supports styles and it's good practice to use them (similar to CSS), I made a new style and applied it to 3 buttons.
The Layout builder in Eclipse did not register the changes and either broke (showed nothing) or didn't apply styles at all.
After running the app in the emulator, styles are correctly applied.
So is there something I'm missing or the Android plugin doesn't support styles?
I usually send out group emails on my computer so I thought id set it up on my razr. I got the group set up under contacts without any flaws. I go in to send an email to the group and it had them all set up for me nice and neatly. Then it asks me for an account and gmail isnt even an option.
I really dont want to have to add my gmail account under the email accounts section then id have two email apps if you know what i mean.
Do most people use The gmail app or just the email app?
Does anyone know if there is a way for either meridian or the regular android player to recognize audio tags on lossless audio files?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi tried on a win 7, vista, and xp machine to install the ADB drivers I install the latest SDK. download the latest drivers through SDK(pack 3 i believe). Restart the machine, restart phone. I try to search for the files in the "C:android-sdk-windows" folder where i unzipped this. I even went as far as to go to "C:android-sdk-windowsusb_driveri386" to search for the drivers but none of them ever find it. Because of this i cant root, use the new recovery, or use the RUU files to go back to the stock rom because they all look for ADB. I was originally trying to take the unrevoked root off so i could use toast's method by flashing the stock ROM. Both UU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6_Radio_1.39.00.05.31_rele ase_171253_signed AND RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_rele ase_171253 do not recognize it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

But when i do a "adb devices" i dont see any device. i did the usb_driver fresh installation guide, but it returned "windows could not find a better driver than currently installed" I havd pointed to sdpath/usb_driver. what's wrong and how to resolve this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy EVO is acting up. It was working fine one day, I could take pictures, listen to music on my SD card, etc, but then out of nowhere, the phone does not see the SD card. The phone says "Removed SD card. SD card removed. Insert a new one." I have tried removing the SD card, then starting the phone without the SD card, then putting the SD card back in, but it still doesn't recognize the card. I cannot mount the phone as disk drive in my computer (I do not even have the option). Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?

I've tried with both the 1.5 SDK and the 1.6 SDK. I have tried all the suggestions in the aforementioned thread. I can mount the device just fine, but adb does not work whether it is mounted or not. I've tried it both as root and as myself and with it in $PATH as well as using. In the dir. Adb appears to "work" as it tells me "List of devices attached". At some point right after I installed 1.5, I remember setting something up to make the USB connection easier, but I don't remember what that was. My hypothesis at this point is that is somehow interfering, but any help you can give either way would be much appreciated.

When I plug it in to the USB port, the computer doesn't recognize the device. I've tested the USB ports with various other devices and it recognizes all of them but the Hero. I did get it to sync briefly and begin the upgrade to 2.1, but then it disconnected again after only being synched for a minute or so. I've restarted everything, and I do have the USB debugging enabled. I've scoured the web and forums looking for a solution and just can't find one. I'm running XP, SP3.
