My milestone doesn't recognize its being plugged in, i.e. i cant charge it. If it the screen is off and i plug in the usb it lights up but wont charge, ive tried two different usb cables and from mains adapter (with/without dock) and from the PC. Anyone else have the same problem?

I just got a milestone yesterday, and I was fascinated by it. The only thing that kills me, is that it doesn't take permission to connect to the internet. I used to have a Nokia, which always had to take my permission first to connect to 3G internet network.
But with the milestone, it doesn't, and I get charged for every single 1kb used I just lost what is equivalent to $10 USD in the last 5 mins for just trying to open Google and download the SlideME app. is there some kind of hidden tasks that uses the internet or something ?
One more thing, today morning, I opened facebook after recharging my credit balance with 20 USD. And guess what ? They're all gone too for just opening the home page! if I have an active internet connection, how can I close it ?
Anyone else have this issue? Was trying to use Double twist and the Mac wont even recognize it in any modes Mass storage or any other
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have my Droid connected to my computer via the USB that came in the box. The phone recognizes the cable, chimes, and has the USB icon on the screen. But the computer doesn't recognize the phone at all. It could be a problem with my computer, but I'm checking here in case I just can't find the option on the phone to "allow USB connection" or something.

This is my phone:
Model: Motorola XT919
Android version: jelly bean 4.1.2
Internal memory: 4gb (really 2,2 gb free since the rest is used by the OS)
Rooted: Yes
I found out about this problem because I was running out of internal space so I inmediately checked the storage settings and I found this:
In the installed apps settings it shows 766 mb free of internal space But in the storage settings the things are different: As you can see, this time I only have 127 mb free of internal storage....
Just to be sure, I downloaded the app Storage Analyser and once again checked the internal storage free space: And this time shows 1,52 gb free...
Well the thing is that my phone considers as free space just the 127mb shown on storage settings, and I want the phone also uses the free space shown on the app settings or the one shown by storage analyser.
I'm having this problem only on Motorola Milestone. Code:

I'm using my Milestone fine and everything, but there's a small problem. Sometimes when I'm using the Internet, it'll say say I have a 3G or H Connection but doesn't load anything? The same happens on the Android market, it'll stay loading a list of Apps for ages and will tell there's a trouble with the connection, but then 2 minutes later it'll be fine. Using a T Mobile sim in Motorola Milestone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my UK Milestone (rooted), long press on the search button only works when the hardware keyboard is shut, when the keyboard is open, long press works the same as a short press.
While looking for a fix for this, I found very little information on the net, so I'm wondering if it's a problem with only selected devices. Can anyone confirm for me if theirs works or not?
I have OpenSearch assigned to long press search, and since I always use the hardware keyboard, I need to close it, long press search, then open the keyboard. It's annoying.
I've looked at editing the qwerty.kl file in /system/user/keylayout, my idea was to try to redefine to search key on the keyboard (between left alt and @) to launch OpenSearch, but it apears that I can only redefine keys to other keys that way, not launch apps.
My EVO is acting up. It was working fine one day, I could take pictures, listen to music on my SD card, etc, but then out of nowhere, the phone does not see the SD card. The phone says "Removed SD card. SD card removed. Insert a new one." I have tried removing the SD card, then starting the phone without the SD card, then putting the SD card back in, but it still doesn't recognize the card. I cannot mount the phone as disk drive in my computer (I do not even have the option). Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy problem is my computer stopped recognizing my tablet as a removable device through the USB cable. I've tried every solution, like going into device manager uninstalling all the usb drives etc... I even downloaded a program to see all the usb connections. Still nothing. There is no problem with my USB ports because I can charge my tablet through USB but my PC just doesn't pick it up. I've changed the MTP and PTP settings as well.
I'm pretty sure it started after I paired my tablet to PC over bluetooth. I think that's what caused the problem. Maybe my PC want's bluetooth to trump the USB connection (even with bluetooth turned off on my device)? I tried google searching but I'm not having much luck.
I tried my wifes laptop and hers picks it up, so I've narrowed the problem to my PC.
So, this is what I did - fiddled around with the phone a bit before finally deciding to install HTC Sync.Downloaded the latest version (3.x) from HTC's website. The software and drivers installed without a problem.The device, however, was not recognized by Sync. Try as I might.Tinkered with the settings in the handset, too - eg. prompt to choose function (I don't even get a prompt when I connect the USB!), checked debugger mode, et al.The phone continues to charge; and that's the only thing that happens.I am running Windows XP (32 bit), SP3. (While downloading the software from HTC's website, I had chosen the option 'Asia no use.I went a step further - by trying to install the older version (2.0.28). Found it on the internet.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhile playing around with Titanium, I was prompted to enable USB Debugging. I remembered having turned this on pre-2.1 for PDANet. However, when I plugged my phone into my PC via USB, it didn't recognize it. So I thought maybe I'd reinstall PDANet to get whatever drivers it loaded to use the USB in Debug mode. I did that, and installed the Samsung USB driver it says to install, but it keeps telling me during PDANet install that it doesn't have the driver. Anyone have any advice here?

Some of you are probably already searching for drivers. Ya I already went through that freak out when I got my Vibrant. Okay, to mount your phone, and have your computer recognize the internal/external memory, do this:Connect your phone to your computer via USB. Give it a few seconds.Next, PULL DOWN your notification bar. Next, tap your finger on "USB CONNECTED"You then get a message asking if you would like to mount. Tap "mount" confirming you would like to do so.Enjoy, your computer should now recognize the internal/external memory.BTW, reverse this process before pulling the usb cable out. Always remove a cable safely, otherwise the data can get corrupt. Don't just yank your cable out.Edit: some of you may also find the following useful. Hopefully the Epic is similar to the Vibrant in these setting
View 41 Replies View RelatedI just updated my S3 to 4.3 (my network is 3 - UK) and the phone is so slow! All programs crash after a few minutes of going onto them. I keep getting messages like "unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped".
Also I have no mobile network!! Everytime I click on mobile data is tells me to "insert an active sim to access network" but when I put the sim in my brothers phone the sim works.
I really don't want to do a factory reset as I have a lot of internal things saved such as pics and whatsapp conversations that I really need!
Is it possible to go back to 4.2?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm using a UK O2 samsung galaxy and i'm trying to upgrade the firmware on it (hopefully to improve battery life).However when i plug the phone into my laptop the NPS software doesn't recognise that there is a phone attached and instead tells me i have 2 mass storage devices connected (an F and an E drive).Does anyone know why this might be? and more importantly how to fix it so i can do the upgrade?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince Android supports styles and it's good practice to use them (similar to CSS), I made a new style and applied it to 3 buttons.
The Layout builder in Eclipse did not register the changes and either broke (showed nothing) or didn't apply styles at all.
After running the app in the emulator, styles are correctly applied.
So is there something I'm missing or the Android plugin doesn't support styles?
I hope some one will be able to help me. I just got my x10 mini pro today. The SD card delivered with the phone works, but is not large enough for map data. So I wanted to use a bigger card 8 gb. It's a new card, but the x10 mini doesn't recognize it. What can I do? How can I solve this problem? The card is not broken, I can use it in my nokia and read it on the computer.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI usually send out group emails on my computer so I thought id set it up on my razr. I got the group set up under contacts without any flaws. I go in to send an email to the group and it had them all set up for me nice and neatly. Then it asks me for an account and gmail isnt even an option.
I really dont want to have to add my gmail account under the email accounts section then id have two email apps if you know what i mean.
Do most people use The gmail app or just the email app?
I am using Motorola Milestone UK version with AT & T. G Mail and Yahoo etc work fine. Data plan also work perfect wih At&T 2G. AT&T 3 G can not use with Milestone because 3 G band of AT & T is not supoerted by Milestone.
However, real problem is that when I call anybody, he always finds my voice breaks on Milestone. When I switch to speaker they find my voice perfect. I can hear their voice clearly. Any body has same problem.
Secondly, I would like to dowload "Car Home" app which is available with Droid. It is not available in Market place. When I try to see how it is intsalled in my friend's droid, it shows 0 KB. Does this app is part of Android for Verizon. When I dock the phone in Car dock, as I dont have Car home app so phone does not pop up Navigation window which is part of Car Home. I can use Google Map manually. This is not big problem.
Here is something interesting about the Milestone. Enable Airplane mode, put it on the charger over night. Wake up to find your Milestone drained. This happens with my Blackberry Curve as well. Airplane mode drains the battery faster than its being charged. Has anyone else seen this? Or am i just getting lucky twice?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola has begun to behave strangely. I think they lost the battery too quickly, so I have yesterday installed Netcounter and a Task Manager to see what it may be due.
Since yesterday, it downloaded 53 MB of data, including 28 MB today. It's too much, because I have hardly used it for anything but standby. There obviously mail pops up on it, but I read them on my PC. I have not used Google Maps, Web browsing or other things.
WiFi is off, but my battery is at 50% (this morning at 7:30 am, it was at 100% - now 4 hours later it's 50%).
Last night the Milestone was warm on the backside, but not where the battery is placed, but closer to where the sender/radio is placed.
Conclusion: Some programs must be running all the time,
1 hour ago I closed all programs using Task Manager.

Why does all my programs start? And which are using the Internet?
I looked at settings -> about phone -> battery usage:
android.process.acore: 71%
Facebook: 6%
display 5%
Android system 5%
Phone idle 4%
Cell standby 3%
Google 3%
Android os 2%
Cell Standby should be >90% since I've not using the phone today.
Any ideas? Should I erase all and restart? Or is it because I have not updated yet (still running the 2.0 version from out of the box)
