How do I stop some of the symbols from automatically backspacing one space when I am typing?
For example when I type, "I'll be there @ 3:30" it auto corrects to, "I'll be there@ 3:30."
It does this with the @, &, ", - , and I am sure others. I end up having to delete the symbol, add the space again, then type the symbol.
HOW CAN I STOP THIS FROM BACKSPACING ON ITS OWN!

when i type something, say i misspell a word. if i wanna go edit that word. when i tap on the word, the flash cursor moves to the word, and any text behind the cursor is deleted one by one until all texts are gone. i have to retype everything behind the cursor. so annoying.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy EditText needs to accept input consisting of partial words, names, etc. At least on my HTC Desire, this is difficult since the keyboard wants to suggest and/or correct some entries (e.g., changes "gor" to "for"). I tried setting textNoSuggestions on the view, but that doesn't fix it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my old Blackberry I could programme the dictionary to change certain letter combos in to the correct words. Kind of like - "helo" > "hello".
As this was user programmable, it was also useful for including things like - "hl" > "hello mate".
On to my point. I write " I'll " a lot but get annoyed sticking the apostrophe in. If I write it without the apostrophe, it's just the word "ill" so it doesn't change it to "i'll". On my Blackberry I made "il" become "I'll".
Or, if I type " il " and keep selecting " I'll " from the suggested spellings, will the dictionary eventually change its default suggestion?
I am switching from a Droid to a Droid X, when I signed into the X for the first time it started downloading ALL my apps that I used to have on my droid. Is there a way to stop this? I want don't want to install everything I used to have.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my X it allowed me to manually choose to connect to wifi but lately it just auto connects and I cant turn it off if im in a wifi area. This puts a huge drain on my battery. I'd prefer to have the OPTION to connect to wifi if/when i want to and to use the 3G network otherwise. Any idea how I can address this issue? (I did recently install Launcher Pro. Not sure if that has anything to do w/ it but figured id mention it)

So i have that checked off for like 80+% of my 80+ apps (that took a while to do let me tell you). Now i have had three apps have updates available since i checked off the box, yet they never actually automatically updated. I waited, hours, still never updated. Is there a setting i need to modify? Do i need to tell it what time of day to do it? Anyone else noticing this? I only really want it in apps that i don't care about reading the new features. But it is annoying that i have it enabled and it does nothing.

of nearby keys. ...but the keyboard seems to me to function exactly the same with or without spell correction enabled.
I have a Droid Eris and have the spell correction turned on. I noticed that when I type a word that isn't already in the phone's memory, it says that it's saving it. Does anyone know how I can edit that list? It has accidentally saved a couple "words" that aren't really words and I wanted to clear it out.

View 5 Replies View RelatedGot a nexus one and on it is Android 2.1 I believe?I plug my car's headphone style cable into the phone all the time to listen to internet radio and even the internal mp3's on it every once in a while.The problem is the phone's music player starts all the time on its own and plays random music OVER whatever internet radio app I may be using.Its so annoying and I can't figure out how to make it stop.Out of no where listening to iHeartRadio, or DroidLive, the Mp3 native music players starts and plays.I've read people saying use the drop down (notification) to go into the app, and hit pause, then the phone's back button to get out and that that particular order will stop it.Even if its instructions on how to delete the native music app and a suggestion for another 3rd party music app anything just HAVE to get rid of this auto play thing.

This is my first post, after reading helpful posts for many months. I was wondering if anyone knows how to stop the Desire/android from automatically connecting to specific wifi networks. I have a wifi network at home which I want the phone to always connect to when in range. I also have a wifi network at work, that I only want to connect to from time to time to update the calendar and download emails. Currently I have to turn off wifi when at work until I need it, but I've had this working before. I'm on my second Desire as the Orange 2.2 update fubar'd the first , my first phone would always ask me if I wanted to connect to the works wifi, the new one just connects straight away, and it will only be a matter of time before my twitter app gets me into trouble.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSometimes, well actually a lot of the time, when I flash a new ROM after wiping down the entire phone I find that after signing into Google in the beginning stages of the activation that suddenly apps begin appearing.
I've found that if I skip the Google integration setup until after the initial process is completed the apps don't auto restore.
But where can I find this cache that google is pulling this stuff from and completely delete this?
Say, here's a lame question. How do I stop my display from auto-dimming? Running DamageControl 2.07.2 if that helps... I remember finding the setting in 1.5, but can't locate it in 2.1.
